Have You Gotten A Passport While Hairless?

I'd like to go to Canada this fall, but I need to get a passport. They will require a photo representing "my current appearance", which is about an inch of hair. By the time I receive my passport, I will look substantially different. The passport lasts ten years.

Has anyone done this? I'm wondering if you are questioned or delayed due to the discrepancy of appearance when you travel.

I did. My hair was super short in the picture but when you need a passport, you need a passport!

Only when your appearence changes ie. new head of hair will you be required to update it.

I renewed my passport in March and thank goodness had my curls. Still waiting to get it. Big trip in October.

    Have fun in Canada!

Not a passport - but one of the few times I wore my wig was to get my driver's license renewed. I was totally bald at the time. They didn't tug on it or ask me anything

Just had a thought - do you have a wig that looks sort of like you own hair? You could wear that... then when your hair grows in you'll look sort of the same.

I just want to mention - it is taking twelve weeks (3 months!) to get a passport - It took about a month for me to receive the card from the gov that I had applied. If you want to fly to Canada in the fall, you need to get your application in as soon as possible. I know supposedly you can go on line and get the proof that you applied, but it will take about a month for you to be able to do that.

I look NOTHING like my passport photo. It's 4 years old. I traveled on it twice this year, and my hair growth was about an inch and black. In my passport photo, it's about the length it is in my av and auburn. I'm also 25 pounds heavier now. Nobody questioned it. You're good to go. Have fun!

I went for my passport photo wearing a baseball cap but they made me take it off.

I looked like Uncle Fester from The Addams Family.

So do I have to get a new photo now that my hair is back in full force?

    Towanda, hello,
I asked about this - passport office, friends working atCDG airport - my local doctor. Answers were vague so had (hideous, hairless) passport-size photo done and carried it LOOSE in my passport on several trips to England. No-one ever took much notice of it and finally I lost it somewhere at Heathrow. I now look unlike either of my pp photos - a full head of white curly hair so am wondering ...

Funny story. Travelling, is my 2nd love.(have to put dh 1st )Ended up having to cancel a trip to Hawaii, and one to Aruba because of treatment. So of course I couldnt wait to get outta here once treatment was over. The one thing I wanted to do was Disney in Florida so we combined a trip to Harbour Island in the Bahamas, along with Disney 1 mth post treatment. I had a very rough time with treatment and quite frankly I looked like s--- when I went for my photos with what I now consider to be a horrid wig....lol. Now that my hair has grown back and I look like me again I barely recognize the person in the photo. I was however too lazy to bother doing a new one. Well, dh and I just got back from a trip last week and I guess I have no choice. Got pulled into secondary going into the US to verify my identity with other ID since the U.S immigration officer wasnt "comfortable" with the resmblence....lol...neither am I ...anyway there were a few embarassed faces when I explained why the photo looked so different.
