How old were you?

55 after 15 yrs of waste of time mammograms on dense breast which did nothing but give me false reassurances.
-
I was dx on 4/20/07, I'm 48. I'll be finishing up chemo around my 49th birthday in September.
-
Initially dx July 04 at age 32, triple -, stage 2, found lump while talking on the pnone. Very supportive husband of 15 years! 11 nodes removed. Bi-lat mast and ovaries removed. BRCA 1 pos. 4 rounds af chemo, AC. Re-dx at age 35 in April 07. Stage 4 now. Very supportive husband of 18 years! Sntl. node pos. In 4th month of Taxol and Avastin. As of last Wednesday's PTscan it is totally irradicated and I am in remission. Ptscan in April showed 6 "hotspots" between armpits and chestwall. No bone, brain or major organ. Clean now. I am in the process of determining if I want to "overtreat" per Johns Hopkins opinion or stop treatment so I have something to fall back on if it comes back. I was told that this chemo is like an antibiotic. Sooner or later your system and the cancer cells become immune/non-responsive. I don't think I want to take a chance on not finding a combo that works so I may stop this treatment at 6 months, (they say it will work for around 15-18 months).

44 in 1999. 52, now. I had annual mammograms from the time I was 35. All were clear. It was 15 months from my last mammogram when I felt the 5.2 cm tumor.
-
I was dx on April, 13, 2007 and I was 38. I turned 39 on May 17, 2 days after my first chemo tx.
-
I was dx'd at 50 and hope to be done with treatment at least before I'm 51!
-
I was dx'd with ILC in June 2007, two weeks before my 39th birthday. Just had my lumpectomy and am waiting on final path. Will be doing chemo and rads.
-
I'm 56. I had a 2cm. tumor IDC removed April 4th/07. Axillary node disection June 29th./07. Nodes were all clear, thank God. Clear margins and Nottingham score =2. I don't know what's next... waiting to talk to Doc. this Fri.

I was just diagnosed a week and a half ago - I'm 35. I started seeing the surgeon in April, but he gave me a 98% reassurance that it was breast-feeding related. Now 2 1/2 months later a less-than-one-centimeter lump is two 2-3 centimeter lumps and I'm scheduled for surgery August 16th. I'm not sure how I'm going to make it until then. I've been a panicker all my life!!!
-
Lets hear it for the old babes!! I am 70 years old and just had bilateral mastectomy for ILC. See oncologist this week to review treatment options. Your women made me appreciate all those healthy, carefree years. Hugs.

I was diagnosed in June of 07. 55 years old. Stage1/grade1 9mm tumor/ IDC/hormone postiive/lupectomy/negative nodes
-
Hi I'm 23 yrs old I was diagnosed on 2 Aug 07. I'm still in shock!
-
I was diagnosed in Feb 07 - 1 month after my 50th birthday, DCIS, stage 0, grade 3 - had mastectomy & SNB in April. Had a mammogram 12 months earlier - clear - probably didn't show up due to dense breasts.
-
49 though the lesion was present on my mammogram when I was 26.
Stage 1, Grade 1. -
I was 49, that's why it is in my avatar..... I'm now 4 months from 52 OMG! Getting older, and happy I am still here for my birthdays!
My very special day just for me -
I can't believe how many of us were 49 when diagnosed. Mine was 3 weeks before my 50th birthday. I don't know about the rest of you but I had mammograms every year since I was 40.
-
I was dx on 6/5/07 at the age of 51. Had lumpectomy, sentinel node removal. Presently undergoing chemo which will be followed by radiation. No family history, mammograms always normal. Found lump during SBE. 1 1/2 yrs. since last mammogram.
-
I was diagnosed the first time at age 32. Had a lumpectomy, 28 lymnodes removed, radiation, chemo-5FU. Diagnosed again at age 44. This time I had bi-lateral mastectomy with tram flap reconstruction, 4 dose dense of adrimyacin and cytoxin and I'm currently on my 8th of 12 weekly taxotere treatments. I'll be done on September 5. I'm triple negative and BRCA1 positive. I also had an oopherectomy at age 38 due to the link of ovarian cancer with the BRCA1 gene. Found both lumps myself as they did not show on my anual mamogram. I had the mamogram in October of 06 and I found my lump in Jan of 07. It was painful and you could feel it.

I was 66 when diagnosed. I feel lucky, if you can call it that, that my children are grown now and that I've had a full life. I hope to have at least 20 more years.

-
I am 42...diagnosed a week ago DCIS...will undergo mastectomy in Sept. some time.

KLynn, I'm sorry about your mom. My mom is Stage IV, five years now, and I'm dreading the day she can't go on anymore. I was diagnosed a month before my 39th birthday, too--never thought I'd sign up for mother/daughter chemo sessions. Also sorry to hear about your mets.
-
I was 41 when diagnosed, 43 now. Had a 4 cm tumour and 3 positive nodes. Mamogram 13 months prior to diagnosis missed the tumour!
Life is good now!!

100,000 years older than the oldest rock one can dig...I think it began at 42, not diagnosed until 5l. Dense breast. Dense mammogram...numerous tests, no time to know, think, or experience what I had until well after diagnosis. Triple negative what?
What is this new site?
Not liking it....................
