2005 ROCK-TOBER CHEMO GIRLS

Hi everyone,
I hope everyone is doing well......Just now getting to skim over some of the recent post's. I had my ENT appointment last week and it wasn't pleasant. The doctor thinks I have the start of vertigo. He tried to trigger a dizzy spell in his office but of course I didn't have one. He had me lay back on a table and move my head back and forth. The next morning I woke up dizzy and with a stiff neck. I was mad at him since I was just starting to feel better. This week he wants me to go for some test's and I am scared because I am afraid they are going to try and make me get dizzy so they can figure out what is causing them. He said it is up to me if I want too have them. Do you think I should? I still think sinuses have something to do with it but I could be wrong. My sinuses have finally started to drain and my eye's haven't stopped running since I woke up this morning.
Laura, you will make a great model. Do you get to keep the clothes you model or are they hoping you will buy them?
Debbie, I think I would get a sleeve too since that is such a long flight. You may be fine but why take the risk. I had a tooth extracted the other day and they put the blood pressure cuff on that arm. I totally forgot because I was gabbing so much until they blew it up and then I almost had a fit and had them take it off. I think I scared them, lol. My arm is fine though....
.
TracyNY, I didn't know that about the glove. Thanks for the info just in case.
Kelly, I haven't read back far enough on the post's to know what is going on but don't ever doubt yourself as to being a good mom. I think you are doing a great job and I am sure Teryn does too.
Cindy, you won't be the only one crying at our meeting. I get real emotional myself. I cry at the drop of a hat. I am still crying over the bridge collapse. Those poor people. My dh is doing construction work on a bridge here and it is also rated like the one in Minneapolis.
Brenda, My sister has the Wii and she said it is a lot of fun. Wow, new furniture, you are lucky..I always love to buy furniture but unfortunately I am out of room in my house. I am waiting for the couch in the family room to wear out so I can buy a new one...lol
Ravdeb, I hope you get it all figured out what you can bring on the plane. I have no clue what is allowed. We are driving. At least I think so, we are starting to rethink our decision but I have no sleeve and now that you girl's have got me thinking about that I am kind of afraid to fly without one.
OK, my dh want's to go out to breakfast. I am telling you I never get a break around here......lol.....it is always something.
I hope you are all having a beautiful day, it is gorgeous here....... -
Graycie...maybe you should get a medical alert bracelet to remind you next time about the arm and blood pressure. I almost forgot WHICH arm I was supposed to tell them not to put the blood pressure on! Talk about spacey!
Get a sleeve AND glove if you are flying. If you don't have lymphedema you can buy a preventative one off the shelf if they have your size. But you MUST be fitted by an LE therapist.
I'm on a roll here with this and hope to discuss this with my onc when I see her when I return from my trip.
and yes..it's all figured out what I'll bring on the plane..basically nothing! I hope to travel light this time and see how it works. I will put my carry on with the baggage going there but most likely returning home I'll need to buy another suitcase and take my carry on with me! -
Kelly -
I hope your work situation gets better. There's nothing worse than having to go to a job you hate! I am really happy you're going to join us! E-mail a photo of your new "do", I bet it looks great.
Graycie -
I hope the dizziness doesn't come back. Have you tried taking a Benadryl at night...for a few nights in a row as a test to see if maybe it works? Yes, I get to keep EVERYTHING - I model and I get to choose which outfits to model! OMG - this is so cool!
WHAT the heck is a Wii? Am I the only one here that doesn't know this?

ravdeb -
I couldn't find info pertaining to travel to and from Israel - other than this (they listed almost every country, but yours!):
"Check with local airport personnel for current policies regarding carriage of liquids, gels, or aerosols through the security checkpoints."
---------------------------------
For US and Canada here's what you can bring on the plane:
Liquids must be carried in individual containers no larger than 3.4 ounces/100 ml.
All liquid containers must be carried in a separate clear plastic, zip-top bag (see example at right) that does not exceed 8 inches x 8 inches (20 cm x 20 cm) or is quart size. Items must fit in the bag comfortably and the bag must be completely closed.
At the security checkpoint, the plastic bag must be removed from the cabin bag and x-ray screened separately.
Customers carrying liquids in their cabin bags may be subject to secondary searches before boarding.
----------------------------
FOR OUR LOVELY BRITISH FAMILY:
Customers traveling to the United Kingdom and whose journeys terminate at the first point of arrival in the U.K. may take one bag whose total dimensions (length +width + height) may not exceed 45 inches/ 114 cm, with each dimension no larger 22 in/56cm long, 18 in/45cm wide, and 10 in/25cm height. Customers may also bring one laptop sized bag, briefcase or equivalent.
Customers transferring onto a flight through the UK (domestic and international) must comply with UK Department for Transport restrictions, which are ONE cabin bag, whose total dimensions (length +width + height) may not exceed 45 inches/ 114 cm, with each dimension no larger 22 in/56cm long, 18 in/45cm wide, and 10 in/25cm height.
Customers traveling FROM the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, Italy or Spain must comply with UK Department for Transport restrictions, which are ONE cabin bag, whose total dimensions (length +width + height) may not exceed 45 inches/ 114 cm, with each dimension no larger 22 in/56cm long, 18 in/45cm wide, and 10 in/25cm height.
Liquid Duty Free items purchased in the United States or onboard non-European Union (EU)** airlines that exceed 3.4 oz./100 ml and are not in a quart-size plastic bag may be confiscated at the security checkpoint when connecting in Norway, Iceland, Switzerland or any EU country. All non-liquid/gel duty free items will be allowed when connecting.

Wii is the new thing for video gamers. Think Sega, Nintendo, etc.
-
Why do I get a funny feeling that everyone will be able to identify me from my baby pictures with ease?!
What else are we supposed to be bringing? I never got the list of questions that I accidentally deleted from Tracy. Can someone send them again? Thanks. -
Tracy you crack me up, you always make me laugh!
We also need to bring something for show and tell, you wont have enough room if you bring all your new furniture, haa ha:)
Seriously though I think if I can remember correctly we have to bring something that is unique to where we live, havent got anything yet...I better hurry up and find something soon!
Gonna watch a movie I rented will catch up with everyone tomorrow before we head off up North for the week.
I sent you a pm with the questions that Tracy wanted for the game that she is setting up.
Love you all
Michele -
OMG -
TaDah...YOU ARE TOO FUNNY! LOL
--------------------------
I'm still hoping Mary-Anne brings her Dragon Boat! LOL -
Checking in with you all . . .
Have had a lazy weekend knitting, reading, watching movies, doing laundry, cleaning the bathroom, . . . .
All is well. I am thinking of our meeting more and more each day and already planning my packing, etc. Usually I'm more "last minute" but not for this one.
Hope everyone has a good week.
Mary -
Laura - speaking of Dragon boats..... Maybe there is some type of boat ride that we can go on while we are there? Doesn't that sound nice and relaxing?
I have the questions & answers all collected up but I am running out of time, I hope I have time to do what I had planned with them....
Nice weekend here... We met with Denali's trainer yesterday - I think she is a Dog Wisperer. She told us all about body language and how to communicate with dogs.... She also taught us how to establish ourselves as the "Alpha" dogs. Dave is all puffed up because she told him that he is the Alpha dog of the family.... Now he keeps telling Denali and me to go to our crates.... LOL!
Hope you all had a good weekend, they all go way too fast for me!
Love you! -

My dd had her end of the school year "open house" ... the children had to draw a picture of themselves, color it and even affix yarn for their hair. Then they had to write a description of themselves. She asked me to guess which was her!! She is the ONLY red head in the class, from across the room I could see which was her but I played dumb and picked the girls and read several descriptions before 'guessing' the right one!!
Her self description that she wrote (yes wrote it all by herself):
I am a girl.
I like to rid skootrs.
I like litest pet shop.
Tracy, if I get to come, I can pretend I don't recognize you! -
Kelly -
That is soooooo adorable! You should frame it and hang it in her room.
Tracy -
OMG LOL - I hope your crate is padded! That is too funny....
---------------------------
Last night me and dh were walking through the house pretending to be models on a runway - practicing for my fashion show. dh was soooooooooooo funny...he kept saying, "no. no. no. - you need to walk like this" and then he did a really funny walk, shaking his butt, with his chin high up in the air - trying to do as a model would. OMG I wish I had a video of it. Instead of pivoting, he twirled around 2 full times. I could not stop laughing. Ya kinda had to be here...I could not stop laughing. -
That's funny Laura. Your dh sounds like alot of fun. Somehow I don't think you have to worry. I have a feeling you will be a natural at it and will look great.
-
Hi October Gals- I just wanted to say hi. I am from the November 2006 group and have been reading your posts from "afar". I just want you to know that your group has been such a real inspiration. It is so wonderful that you have such a support system. Especially during chemo, it was good to see that light at the end of the tunnel and to see that there was a good end to all of this!
Thanks for being here!!
-Carrie -
Hi Carrie!
Thanks for stopping in to say Hi! You can hang out with us anytime you would like! Please feel free to join in with us. Hope all is going well for you, we are here if you need us!
(((hugs))) -
Hi Carrie! Great to see you here. Join in anytime. Things do get better with time. Just hang in there.
Tracy NY...I was rofl. I suppose you meant that even as a baby you were shopping for furniture and your parents got a good pic of that?
Not sure I have a show and tell item to bring.
Tracy in Seattle...rofl at your post too. How is crate life? Are you trained yet???
So, Laura..practicing strutting your stuff?
Okay..so I tried on my sleeve again. In my mind I could not remember how she told me to put it on. I got so nervous! I did it but only with the picture in the booklet. I have this directional defect and as soon as somebody instructs me to turn something inside out but not really...I get directionally dysfunctional. This is why I must put this thing on in private! -
Oh no , show and tell. I dont know what to bring (or what i can fit in!!!) I am still looking at the suitcases and trying to see if i can fit family christmas presents in !
-
Carrie - (((more hugs))) Do join us anytime!!!!!
ok...what are the specifics for Friday night's pj party??? The reason I'm asking is we are now staying at the Westin 2 miles away as there were only rooms with 1 king bed available at the Marriott. So I'll be commuting
I couldn't remember details.
I CAN'T WAIT!!!! Sooo excited!! May have to ask my mom to scan and send a baby photo as I'm sure I don't have one here. And something for show-and-tell??? Hmmmmm....I think I'm the most unimaginative/noncreative person on the planet... -
Okay..let's see what the schedule is like on Friday...
Lunch
Happy hour
Dinner
Slumber party in the hospitality room where we can camp out there or go back to our rooms.
Sat morning..
Breakfast
Field trip to Navy Pier for those who want to go.
Return to the hotel to freshen up.
Evening Dinner/Entertainment at Laura's
Sunday...
Breakfast and check-out for many and then hugs, tears and goodbyes.
Please add or subtract or change where needed.
RoseMarie... don't fret about the show and tell. it is supposed to be something that is special to the place you are from so for example, Laura is from the Chicago area and would need to bring something that is rep of Chicago like bringing some cute CUBS player. -
Hi Ladies,
I haven't posted in eons...I'm trying to give myself a little break from breast cancer in general. Between the dog and my foot, it's been hectic on this end, and I've just wanted to put breast cancer on the backburner for a while.
I'm excited for your get-together! I'm definitely not coming....it's too tricky with the puppy...we're putting her in the kennel at the end of August when we go to a wedding, so it's not fair to do that to her 2 weekends in a row when she's still too little. BUt, I'll be there in spirit and thinking of you all and waiting for pictures!!!
Love,
Amy -
Time until Friday, August 24, 2007 at 6:00:00 PM (Chicago time)

---------------------------------
It is 18 days, 8 hours, 10 minutes and 53 seconds until Friday, August 24, 2007 at 6:00PM
-----------------------------------
ravdeb - girls -
Thanks for the schedule! everything looks good...I am also working on one - just tightening up the times a little and will post it later (I'm waiting for some phone calls back re: Saturday's Pier events). Yes, ravdeb...I'll try to have the WHOLE CUBS team here...love it! LOL RoseMarie...maybe you can bring the Indiana Football team!
I am walking 3 miles this morning...gotta go and get dressed! More later... -
Tadah: They may not be able to distinguish between you and me, unless yours is in color (which just means that you were born much later!).
Laura a.k.a. Ms. Fashion Model: OMG! You have to get a Wii! It is the only video game system you can have at home (that's affordable) that has remote controllers! You can play sports and actually ache the next day from not having used those muscles! Right now Sean is playing tennis in his boxer shorts. LOL! -
How do you play sports on the wii?
-
I'm not exactly sure Kelly but I have seen it demonstrated on TV. You play with a wand so you actually think you are there participating in the sport and you really do get a work out. For bowling you pretend you have a ball in your hand (the wand) and aim for the TV. You just have to be careful not to really let go of the wand or there could be trouble for your TV set.....lol...I think they have tennis too. Not sure what else. I heard it is alot of fun.
-
Hey Carrie, we are practically neighbor's. I live in a suburb of Buffalo as you can see, lol. Feel free to PM me anytime if you want to talk.
Laura, It's funny you suggested Benadryl. Great minds think alike, lol. I have been using it but it is making me feel like a walking Zombie. Today I woke up a mess so I took Claritin. How can you outgrow allergies and then suddenly they reappear? -
OOOhhh yeah, I'll bring Peyton Manning!
Take care of yourself Amy!!!! We will miss you!
Victoria - good luck with your show! -
At the PJ party...after a few LD Martinis...can you girls help me practice walking down the runway! LOL
Graycie -
Gotta be careful with the meds...we're ditzy enough! -
Kelly: Actually Graycie did a good job of describing it. The system attaches to your T.V. and comes with 2 controllers, the wiimote is for your right hand and the nunchuk is for your left hand. If boxing is the sport that you choose you can actually fight with both hands! On the T.V. you see "yourself" punching while you move your hands as long as you are holding the controllers. It has motion sensor technology. The sporting disk that came with it is just the tip of the iceberg. You can buy or rent hundreds of other games.
-
Brenda -
If I work out any more...I'll look like this: -
Laura, You are TOOOOOOOOO funny........lol
-
Carrie:
Hey, Carrie, I live in Fairport.
Send me a PM and we can talk on the phone or even get together. I work at Strong Memorial Hospital. Where are you getting treatment?
Welcome to our little group.
Hope to hear from you,
Mary
