You don't know if you caught it early until you have all the cans and surgery.

I wanted to send her a massage yesterday on the abc news site, but it seems you have to fill out a form to get access. Has anyone else left her a message? Do I need to fill out the form first, or was I doing something wrong? Pink
I just filled out the form no problem. I left the message right after she announced. If you're having problems maybe the message box gets full before she reads them so try again later. -
So sorry to hear another has had to join us. I just watched the video clip and it did bring back all those feelings of first hearing "you have breast cancer." I recognized the fear and the brave face...
I'm sending prayers up for Robin and for her surgery tomorrow...

I have just sent a message and there was no trouble doing so. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone at this the most painful stage of the process.
((hugs)) -
Anyone hear exactly what the extent of her cancer is and what kind of surgery she had today?? Man, they certainly did not waste a minute of time did they??
huggs, Sherry -
She didn't say what kind of surgery. I heard today surgery went well and she is home resting.
-
Since she was at home later that day, I assume it was a lumpectomy. She said she'd tell people when she gets the results.
-
Want it hear something funny?
My sister who is a bc survivor too, sent Robin Roberts a link to BCO and told her this is the greatest place for her to be...
My sister won't ever post here! I don't think she even lurks- but she has heard me talk about it so much she felt that RR needed to know!
I hope she does come here. -
If she came here, she'd probably try to remain anonymous. I wouldn't blame her. I hope no matter what she does, she gets the support of women who've been there, done that. She needs to know that the emotional rollercoaster is just as scary as the real life one and that her feelings are normal!
-
I also sent her a message. I read that her family is marking all the e-mails from survivors with a big "S". I thought that was great.
I like Robin a lot. She's a smart, classy lady.

Roberts Says Cancer Surgery 'Went Well'
Aug 7, 10:17 AM EST
The Associated Press
NEW YORK -- ABC "Good Morning America" anchor Robin Roberts says messages of support from her fans helped her get through breast cancer surgery last Friday.
"I am incredibly grateful that my surgery went well Friday," Roberts said in a posting on ABC News' Web site. "Thanks for all the prayers I owe you big time!"
Roberts, 46, told "GMA" viewers last Tuesday that she had cancer, which she discovered through self-examination.
Her mother and sisters traveled from the Mississippi Gulf Coast and New Orleans to be with her for the operation. The former college basketball star and sportscaster grew up in Pass Christian, Miss.
"My family read many of your e-mails while I was in surgery," said Roberts, who has been an anchor at "GMA" since 2005. "It brought them such comfort. My big sis, Sally-Ann, marked all the survivor stories with a big S."
She said her co-anchor, Diane Sawyer, had visited her in the hospital.
"I woke up in the recovery room with sweet Diane gently tugging on my big toe," she said in a posting Monday. "As you can imagine, I am still quite sore from the procedure and need to take some time for my body to heal."
Roberts left the hospital on the day of her surgery.
"Right now the best medicine for me is to be at home surrounded by family and loved ones," she said. "I expect to get the final test results later this week, which will determine the course of my treatment."

Is anyone else concerned that she's been off work for three days this week. When I had my lumpectomy ( years before the mastectomy) it was on a friday and I was back at work on Monday. Sure I was sore, but I had others do the lifting for me.
-
She's supposed to be back on air monday.
-
She evidently has time available to take off.............may not have anything to do with how she is recovering. She needs to just feel her family's love at this time.....we all understand.
Love,
Terry -
She may have started with lumpectomy and of course we don't know what happens till they get in and out....
I wish her well. I wish all of us ladies dealing with this monster a speedy, recovery and good, long life! -
If she's got the time banked, why not take it? She's on the air in front of millions of people watching her every facial expression. She should be able to heal in private like we could.

I had a lumpectomy and I took the whole week off...I did have a small complication develop (a hematoma), but, I had already planned to be off the entire week even if the hematoma hadn't developed. I wanted to take the time to recover from the surgery - I seem to remember that I was very sore from the SNB for several days. I just felt like I was going to need the time off mentally/emotionally - I had the days so I took them.

I was watching the morning news when Robin announced her news. I felt she was really brave to talk about her breast cancer on TV. I think one of the worst things is having to tell people that you have been diagnosed with cancer. I saw the tears that she was holding back and heard the catch in her voice. I believe she did it in front of the world to encourage women to go for their mammograms. God bless her.
-
Diane seemed absolutely thrilled this morning when she announced that Robin will be back on Monday. I hope that this indicates she has good news about her path and upcoming treatment. Maybe she can forego chemo?
Marin -
Check out the just diagnosed board. Under the post Good Morning America 8:00 am. One of our own sisters will be on GAM Monday during a topic of Breast Cancer and Robin's return.
Sheila -
Hello everyone,
I just read on the news where Ms. Roberts begins her first chemotherapy treatment today. Let's all wish her very well!
