Ginger for Hot Flashes?
Anyone tried ginger for hot flashes?

rrs, ginger is great for tummy trouble and nausea.Sea sickness, motion sickness.
It is good for colds and flu, since it's a warming herb. And as a warming herb it is good for speeding sluggish metabolism.
So does this sound like something to cool/calm hot flashes ?
Right.It's not. -
I just found crystallized ginger at my store. Now I need a therapy group because I'm hooked. I look longingly at the bag wanting more, and more. If it just didn't have so much sugar.
New warning from the FDA, know where your ginger root comes from. China is selling the root with toxic pesticides on the skin. I'm surprised they don't dip it in lead paint first to keep a longer shelf life. -
I used it when I was pregnant for morning sickness...worked like a CHARM!!! Best wishes!

I read it in Dr. Gott's column. Someone wrote in that it helped her hot flashes. I had the same thought as Joan -- seems like it wouldn't help. Maybe it is the placebo affect.

I have had horrific hot flashes (natural menopause)24/7, every 20-40 minutes, since 1997...a few months over 10 years. I take ginger everyday because it is a natural anti-inflammatory. It has done nothing to ease my flashes. I wish I COULD find something that would ease them or take them away...besides anesthesia. This is cruel and unusual punishment. Aren't they suppose to go away at SOME point?

Cin, maybe the ginger is contributing to your hot flashes..?
Gosh - 10 years. Hopefully, they will stop soon. -
Since you read that in Dr. Gott's column and it was an individual who wrote it (as opposed to any studies/research to back that up and I've never read anywhere that ginger helps hot flashes), I'd guess that this individual started taking ginger (for something else) and incidentally her hot flashes 'got better'. I don't think the ginger had a thing to do with it....just my opinion. Best wishes

I read the same thing about crystallized ginger helping hot flashes. Since I am post menopausal and taking arimidex which causes hot flashes, I am searching for something also. I can't find the crystallized stuff anywhere, at least not locally. Maybe I will forget about it, but like everyone else, I am tired of them, especially since this has been an extrmely hot summer.
