Hi, girls!
I had a question for everyone. Is it possible to find a breast cancer doing a regular chest x-ray(part of the annual check up)? And if it is , what is the next step?

Thank you.
Lana

I don't think so. If there were a questionable area, which is what an x-ray would uncover, then a mammogram or biopsy would be ordered.

That's the thing...My mom got a call back from a doctor saying that she needs to come in to talk about her chest X-ray??? Well, she has a history of B9 going 8 years back twice. So, is it possible for her to have cancer now???
I'm sorry for dumb questions, but I am a rookie in this and never thought this kind of "luck" will fall on my family (well, I bet no one does!)

Lana, I am going to disagree with the other posters here and say that it might be possible to see a breast lump on the chest Xray if there are areas of calcification within the lump. The next step would be to order a mammogram.

But it may be also something new on the chest Xray, a change compared to her Xrays in the past. Before guessing, though, your mom needs to go talk to the doctor about the chest Xray. Maybe you or someone else can go along with her to hear everything too. Good luck to you both.

    Thank you!
We're going on Monday and mentaly getting ready for the worst. I just spoke with her on the phone and learned new facts: she told me that her breast felt tender for weeks now and also inflamed on the inside and outside. Just great! Why people with their medical history don't tell your family anything , hoping that'll go away? It's like pregnant 15 years old keeping it secret from her parents in hope that the belly will desolve by itself!!!
