OMIGOSH Lisa!! You poor, poor dear...and your arms and your port....o.....I'm a hospital social worker and never again will I reassure families that 'all is going well' or 'this sometimes happens' or any of the other totally meaningless things we say....without thinking of you and all of us and all we have been subjected to these past months...We are amazing women - we clean closets, we entertain guests, we have our children getting married, our spouses leaving us, our friends and neighbors saying stupid things from time to time and we PREVAIL!
I love us all....and am sooooooooooooo proud of us! I won't be able to manage if something bad happens to one of us... -
Here is a pic from Wednesday. [image]http://

Serious Nurse, Funny Nurse, and Lisa the Medical Assistant -
Sorry the pics are so big.
LISA -- wow! you poor thing! that sounds horrific!
ANGEL - you are my hero. you always manage to get so much stuff done. i spent an hour on the kitchen today and was done with work.
maxgirl -- yay! hair growth is great! did u find a dress? send us a pic when u do! -
If that is you getting chemo... you are beautiful. Who needs hair?
-
Wow Lisa, your day getting the bone scan sounds like a nightmare. People have had trouble accessing my veins on and off my entire life, but now it seems worse than ever before. I have never heard someone say it's impossible, though. I am so sorry you went through so much just to get started! I am glad it looks good so far and I am praying for a clear final result.
I hope you're having fun with your company. Four teenagers sound like lots of fun!
Angel, a baby grand! That was quite a gift! I hope you're able to recoup a major portion of the purchase price if you do decide to see it.
I hope you get your bone scan soon. Unbelievable!
Max, you were worried about starting rads as soon as me and now you're way ahead of me! I am starting on July 19, which will be exactly three weeks after my last chemo. So I guess I am right on track.
Good luck on the dress shopping. Sounds like fun! Unfortunately, I don't think my feet will be walking around in heels anytime soon.
I guess it sounded like I was putting my feet WAY up, but the three pillows are kind of old and flat. So really just a normal elevation.
Holly, it is so nice to see you in such good spirits. You certainly went through the wringer with chemo! I am glad that is over, too!
Terri, your pictures are just lovely! Thanks for sharing with us.
I'm going away for a couple of days, but I'll be posting when I get back! You guys try to behave. LOL
Miss S -
Hey everyone!
Holly...a major crush on your onc....you go girl, i'm hoping for you. Good to hear you feeling so well....you really had a tough time.
Angel...you sound like the energier bunny...congrats on having so much energy getting your kitchen organized. Maybe playing the piano would be good exercise for you arm...you might want to check that out.
Lisa, so sorry that you had to go through all that poking to get that bone scan done but very happy to hear the all clear. Prayers for the complete report next week. Hope you enjoy your company for the weekend...good luck keeping up with 4 teenagers.
Playwriter, love your pictures..looks like you had a very caring group working with you. Enjoy your break before rads.
Maxgirl...good to hear that you are sailing through rads. Good luck on the dress shopping.
MissShapen, Have a wonderful time on your little get away!!!!
I continue to run a fever and basically feel tired. Been taking an anti-biotic. Will call the onc in the morning.
Nancy -
Hey Terry - where'd you get them eyebrows????
-
Nancy,
I can't believe you're STILL running a temp! I hope your onc has something up his sleeve to help you more quickly! I'll keep you in my prayers.
Hugs,
Miss S -
Hi all, just wanted to do a quick update. I managed to get all the way through chemo without getting an infection. But guess what, I got one at the port site after it was removed and now am taking horse pill antibiotics. But I am seeing so much head growing on my hair only 1 1/2 weeks after last chemo that I am feeling pretty confident that I will have a head of hair by Christmas, even if it is short.
After church this morning, I got the nicest surprise. Someone from one of the Sunday school classes handed me an envelope and told me it was to help get the girls what they need for back-to-school. It was $172! That will buy quite a few clothes so they won't have to go to school nekkid this year!!!!! I am so blessed by all the wonderful things the people (My Family really) at church have done and continue to do to help me and the girls become true survivors!!!!!! -
Yay Patti! i am so happy for the $$! sorry about the infection, tho. that sux.
nancy -- let us know what the onc says. you should not be running a fever.
holly -- i don't know, i never lost the hair on my arms, and my brows and lashes just thinned a bit, so i was very blessed that way.
it's been 4 days since last tx. still feeling yucky. am jealous of those of you who are done, or on your way to rads. -
Put me on the calendar for Tues. July 17 # 3 FEC of 4. I am almost there.
Terri you look beautiful. I am so happy for you that you are finished and you have eyebrows and eyelashes. I have none. No hair of any description. I hope mine starts growing right after my last treatment. As long as I paint eyebrows and put on eyeliner, blush and lipstick I am ok with the head. HA Not really!!!
Bettye -
Yup - am wishing for some hair...on my head that is...nothing, nada and I am 4 weeks past my last chemo. I don't care of the hair on my arms, legs and 'you know where' don't come back....but I would LOVE some on my head and I miss my eyebrows and lashes.
What do you all think I should do about wig/no wig when I go back to work....? Yikes - TOMORROW!! -
Much, much luck tmrw with going back to work, Holly. I pray you have strength and everything goes smoothly. I think whatever is more comfortable for you regarding wig/no wig. Sometimes offices can be cold, and u might want the warmth of a wig. But if it gets itchy, take it off!
Bettye -- i am getting ready to dance with you. we are bringing up the end of the conga line!
stomach is hurting tonight. so glad this is the last time i'll have to go thru this! -

I am so glad too to see that we are all most done! I am feeling much better and managed to stay out of the hospital. woo hoo! that was a big hump for me. It was touch and go for a bit but my body listened to me this time. I kept telling myself "There's no place like home" LOL . GOOD LUCK Bettye my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Melissa -
Hey Melissa,
Glad you're done and you didn't take up residence in the Hospital Hotel! Prayers for Betty as she enters the homestretch.
My neighbor pulled my sun hat off today and had to rub my luscious locks! I must admit, the hair is very soft and cuddly! I had my dh shave my neck a bit, cos my hair was growing so low down it was looking like I was wearing a turtleneck! I don't have a personal blog or website - any ideas on how I can upload a pic?!
Christine -
Keenie,
Go to photo bucket.com and create a free acount. Upload your pic there and it will give you the code to place here. Copy and paste the code that has the img wording... I think it's the third one down, then just paste it here. Good luck.
Miss S (who is away on vacation, but checking in) -
doing fair today. big D, hot flashes and pain in my left side. but! it's the last time i'll have to go thru this!
-
Thanks Miss S!
I'll get my kid right on that. . . the 13 year old!
Where are you vacationing?
Terri, hope you feel better soon - praying for you, honey!
Christine -
Here's my hair at 11 weeks out!
Christine -
Christine love the new growth! O my gosh where do you and Terri get those beautiful blue eyes!
Miss S remember to enjoy that vacation.
Melissa -
I'm wondering the same thing Christine!! Great hair - you look adorable! But where o where did those eyebrows come from? I have no hair, no brows or lashes...
-
I am so jealous of the eyebrows and lashes you ladies have!!! I have some hair growth but not much and no eyebrows or lashes. I know..they'll come back but I want them now..lol rosebud
-
Christine & Terri - you both look beautiful. Are you going topless yet, Christine? If not, you should. I know, Terri, you have been brave going topless since the beginning!
When I was in Minneapolis this last weekend I went to Sephora and had them teach me how to do eyebrows. I bought a product called Brow Zing and an eyebrow stencil. Now I just stick the stencils on, paint on the first step(a waxy substance) brush on a colored setting powder, remove the stencil, use an eyebrow brush to soften the look and voila! I have eyebrows! At first I was self concious, but my husband and the guys we were traveling with didn't notice until we pointed it out to them, so hopefully it doesn't look too Groucho Marxish!
Melissa - I am SO glad you stayed out of the hospital! Yippee!
Holly - how is it being back to work? You take care of yourself and don't overdo it!
Bettye - hope you are feeling well today!
Miss S - Enjoy your vacation and let us know what all you did!
Rosebud - my DH goes to pick up his 'new' car tomorrow night - a red 1970 Roadrunner! What kind of car do you have? It looks so similar to the pic that my DH had of his.
Hugs to all. I hope the infections and fevers have all calmed down and that all are feeling their best. -
Thank you, ladies, for the kind words of encouragement! When Terri first put her pic up, I thought we had very similar eye colour.
I've been going topless the last week or so, but I wear a sun hat when I'm outside. I'm very fair and burn like crazy and I didn't want to goop up my fabo locks with sunscreen.
My eyelashes are just now long enough to put in the eyelash curler! The lashes finally all fell out about 2 weeks after my last AC. I was kinda ticked, cos I thought I'd dodged that bullet. The eyebrows were thinner, but I got a great eye pencil at the LGFB program and used it up until about 3 weeks ago. The eyebrows are a bit whiter than I had before. Probably the chemo scared them!
I hope everyone feels comfortable enough to post a pic. I'm so excited now I know how to do it - I'll probably drive you all crazy with weekly updates!
Christine -
OMG!!!! I am so jealous of your hair Keenie. I'm just 3 weeks out today from my last treatment so don't expect anything for a while yet. It was 3 weeks between treatments all along and nothing ever came back or started to. So from here on out it's just a wait and see when the first ones will appear. I keep rubbing my bald head and can't wait to feel the first ones come in. Love the blue eyes too.
Love,
Angel -
Jacque..We have a 73 Nova, which was his first car he bought at 17. The car cost him 3,000 dollars at that time. Now wouldn't that be a nice price now for a new car??? rosebud
-
We were just laughing about car prices the other day rosebud. Cars now cost more than my first house.....lol
