My radiated side got hard and warm about three months after rads. Ended up being some kinda LE. You might ask on the lymphedema thread Binney is really good about boob questions. have you talked to your doc?

My radiated breast is really hard, full of fluid and warm as well. My rad onc said the radiation caused lymphedema and referred me to physical therapy.

Yes, I did talk to rad onc and to Binney. Rad onc thought it was nothing. Think I'll talk to my medical oncologist. Thanks, everyone.

    Aunt Gina,
it took me about three years before my breast started to soften up. By the time I reached my fifth anniversary it was feeling almost like the "good" one.

I don't have either anymore, but I wanted to reassure you that with time they DO get softer.

I was warned (after surgery, of course)
Was also told I may never have implants or plastic surgery as a high risk patient.
When I complained about the disfigured hematoma breast and the oddness of the scar, a breast health nurse laughed at me. She actually said "Wait till you see yourself ater radiation treatment!".
Lucky me, no hard stuff yet...hematoma likely gave it cushioning. This nurse, however, told me it would be hard, sore, blistered, burnt, yikes?! None of that happened.

    None of it!

The aloe gell and massage helps, along with some curel or aquafor creams.

    Time...

    Hi,

It has been one year to the day since my last radiation treatment on the right breast, and it is still hard, the skin is leathery, and it generally looks like someone burned me with a hot iron, as it is reddish purple. I had
a 1cm inflitrated ductal cell carcinoma, had 3 lymph nodes removed, as well as the tumor, of course. I am constantly in fear of it returning. When I work out, the breast gets a weird ridge on it (puffy) - and I wonder about sitting in the sun this summer.

    Hi,

My mom finished her radiation in May of 2006 and was just diagnosed last week with breast fibrosis. Her breast is hard and sometimes painful, but the doctors say it's a benign condition, not related to breast cancer recurrence.
You can read about it at
    http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/content/CRI_2_6X_Benign_Breast_Conditions_59.asp.
Or you can also look it up on the breastcancer.org site.

    HELLO,

After Radiation its been 2 years already. My right breast is also hard.... Nipple too. Dark brown in color, when squeeze it, it tends to pucker up kind of looks like an orange peel looks funny also has a leather patch through it.  Dr says thats normal.  If I would of known this I would of done a Masectomy with Reconstruction.  Now 2 years latter, I have blood coming out of my nipple. Well Dr says it could be Cancer again, Biopsy scheduled for fri Mar 19, results in 7 days.
