Monavie while on chemo?

Options

A friend of mine gave me a bottle of this stuff. It's derived of acai berry and has a ton of anti-oxidants and nutrients. Sounds great, but should I use it before my chemo or after my chemo. Not during, right because won't it mess with what the chemo is trying to do? I won't be starting chemo for another month or so. (My bi-lat w/ expanders is July 17). Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Keri,
Your blog's beautiful, and so are you.I'm so SORRY you have to be blogging about bc.And I will pray, and I know everyone will, that you wont need chemo.
Best, best, best of luck on the 17!!

About the Monavie-I'd take it after surgery.Surgery and post-surg meds can be a little constipating. That acai juice should help.Plus, you want to get a really good healing going-use everything you can!
Take the Monavie. If you need to you can always get more!
Your adoring boyfriend will GLADLY get you cases of it, from the looks of him!

Again, Keri, sorry to meet you here, and hoping you wont be around long!(We can be friends in a different venue.I'll come to your Keri KICKED cancer blog)

    Hugs, Joan

    Hi Keri,
So sorry you had to join this group. But am glad you found us. It's always nice to see Florida girls on the board. I hope your surgery went well and you are feeling better now.

Before you take anything check with your oncologist. Some doctors don't want you taking anything that may interfere with your chemo protocol. There has been a lot of discussion about whether or not Monavie does what it claims to do. Personally, I don't think it does. I am always cautious of a "cure all" in a bottle. My hubby bought a bottle and drank it all. He did not feel any different.

    Take care,

    Hi Joan!

Thanks so much for checking out my blog and for the well wishes and sweet things you said! I am so sorry it has taken me so long to respond, I forgot about my question and just thought about it again this morning as my cousin dropped off another case of Monavie to me. How sweet!

I have been putting the Monavie in my morning smoothies and since I have not been very consistent with taking it (you are supposed to take it once in the morning and once before bed), I haven't noticed anything Earth shattering. I CAN tell you I've had a wonderful recovery since my surgery 4 weeks ago. My reconstruction (expanders) are doing great and I have most of my mobility back, with the exception of some scar tissue in my affected armpit. I have been massaging that for the past few days, so hopefully that will break up soon.

I hope to keep in touch with you! And likewise--sorry to have met you here!

    Hi Odalys!

Nice to see a fellow South Floridian on the boards, too! I will ask my onc about the Monavie on Wednesday. My concern was with the super anti-oxidants cancelling the effects of the chemo. I don't take any vitamins or supplements or anything, so I figured a little extra punch in my morning smoothies might be good. I hear mixed reviews on the Monavie. I keep having friends bring it to me, so I will keep using it while I have it as long as the doctor says it's ok.

    Take Care!
    Keri
