We are great fans of Harry Potter. Looking forward to the new movie on book 5, Order of the Phoenix, and book 7, Deathly Hollows. We are taking the family for ds' birthday to see the movie at IMAX. We saw HP3 there and it was awesome.

Now for the book. DH, ds and I all have varying opinions on the outcome. However, I am odd person out in believing that Snape is really a good guy after all. I also think the only way that He Who Must Not Be Named, can only be destroyed if Harry aslo loses his magical ability. I think that Ginny, Hermione and Ron come to his aid and help defeat Voldemort.

What are the rest of you thinking? My ds and his new girlfriend (that is really hard to realize he is old enough to date, yikes) are going to the midnight party at Barnes and Noble to pick up their copies of the new book. I made ds a Hogwart's scarf and he is wearing a pair of round glasses without lenses and she is dressing up as Ginny. Too cute! I hope someone takes pics as they are leaving from her house.

I'm not sure what to think about that, but I do think that the sweet, awkward boy whose Mom iswas in the hospital (can't think of his name right now) will have a larger role in resolution.
I, too, think Snape will come out a good guy and Voldemort will be defeated. After all good does overcome evil.
    Can hardly wait!

I am with you on Snape, I think that he will turn out to be a good guy. The big question is whether Harry will survive this or not.

I do not think Rowlings is done writing and even though this is the last Harry Potter book, I am interested in what she will come up with next. Hope it is as exciting.

I don't believe Harry can be killed off. The series would be killed as well as all the movies to come. Just cannot happen.
I also kinda wonder if his uncle may not return??? so that he can have some family. And if his nasty aunt may have a turn at being some kind of nice left in her.

My dh thinks that his Aunt Petunia has a bit of magic in her too, she just never got a letter or she didn't want to compete with her sister, Lily. Wouldn't you be miserable with a kid like Dudley? He also thinks Dumbledore will be back in some form and this I agree with him too.

Dotti, I too hope Sirius in some way comes back so Harry is not alone. The boy you are thinking of is that Neville Longbottom? I feel he and Luna Lovegood will be playing supporting roles as well. He always has the Weasleys as his adopted family and I think he will marry Ginny. But as far as the series continuing, maybe it is over. I mean, once Voldemort is gone, it is the end of the entire conflict. We have a debate on it every time ds or dh reread one of her books. DH has gotten to be...ok big pun coming.....a "master debater", hehe, lol. Sorry, couldn't help myself!

We were going to take the family to the IMAX 3D version until I went on Fandango and saw the prices now! We are going to the regular show. This way we can also buy tix at a discount because we are up to 12 people so far! Still a lot of money but everyone is on their own for snacks.

Yes,it's Neville. My daughter's book arrived yesterday, amazing what I have forgotten from the last read!
Apparently Neville and Harry are equals except for the parents actions.

did she get book 7? I ordered it from Barnes and Noble and am waiting to pick it up when it comes in. Sometime in July right? I am going to reread 5 and 6 just so I am ready for it all.

You would think I have not got anything better to do but it takes my mind off the rest of life!

OK I think that J.K. could possibly write a prequel where we get look see Harry's parents when they went to Hogwarts and when He Who Must Not be Named became powerful etc. So she wouldn't be lieing that this is the last book about Harry! Thoughts????

Believe it, or not, I've never seen a Harry Potter movie or read a Harry Potter book - UNTIL a week ago! A friend of mind gave me Book 1 - I finished it and had to run out and buy more. I'm now on Book 3....

I'm totally hooked on these stories now!

I read something in Book 1 or 2 that made me think about what might be in store for the future with Harry Potter. Someone, I can't remember who, told Harry that "death is just a new adventure"....so, that's got me wondering if perhaps Harry does die, but, his death leads to new adventures in an after-life world?

One thing I'm noticing as I'm reading these Harry Potter books is how Harry is often portrayed symbolically as a Christ figure. It wouldn't surprise me if Harry dies in the new book in order to save "wizard-humanity"....And, then, Rowlings will write a new series that deals with his "rising" again or his life in an after-world. Does that sound too crazy? (Keep in mind that I'm only in the middle of Book 3 - "The Prisoner of Azkaban".

I won't be suprised if he dies after reading some of the things on the web sites.
They have mentioned in some of her interviews that she is planning a book on her characters backgrounds. She has full histories on each major character as well as minor ones!! Even, perhaps, their favorite colors! They are fully fleshed out.

My Church, Grace Episcopal, is a 105 year old Gothic structure, and is being turned into Gryffindor Hall for the release. We're rigging portable battery candles to "float" and wil have people in costume to provide hospitality and reading spaces. We'll be open all night and end with a light breakfast on Saturday morning. I'm so looking forward to this. Will try topost pics afterwards.

They even give the first "read" when the book comes out.
