Hey girls,
I could have sworn there was a sticky note or something about fatigue. Im not depressed and the majority of articles I found on this website deal with both. I need something to show my husband, something medical. He thinks I can just push my way out of bed and once I get going will be fine. NOT! He doesnt understand that sometimes I dont even have the energy to move my mouth to talk.
Thanks!

Hi sister, I don't know of any written article off hand. But what you have is quite complicated.
First, you have Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. Because the time frame of any cancer treatment is very long, and because we spend literally weeks thinking we might die, we have the same results as the vets do, just overwhelming fatigue and other symptoms too. This does get better with time, but it takes a long time. Your body and mind take their own sweet time deciding when to let you off the hook for scaring them both silly.
Also, I take a slew of vitamins. This whole stressful thing is hard on the immune system. I take 1000mg C, E, D, Co-Enzyme 10, grapeseed, greentea and cod liver oil capsules, especially a good B-Complex and anything else I see at Costco.
I think it helps get you back up to speed. This is a hard, draining experience that doesn't go away like a cold or the flu.
Husbands get cranky with their wives because they are really and truly still cavemen. When you are not doing well or are upset, they get mad. The exact wrong reaction for you. But what is happening is their "manliness" is threatened because they can't fix what is wrong with you. Makes them real nasty.
Funny, huh? When you need a real strong hug, you get an onery comment. Sheesh, but that is just the way they are made. They are responsible for you and the kids being okay and when you aren't and they can't fix it, they get very upset.
Hope this helps. Shirlann -
hi issa,
my mom is 3yrs out . she still stays tired alot. she has low b12.
i hope you get to feeling better. -
If you find it--let me know.. I am exhausted down to my eyelashes. I want to know when my energy will return.
Shirlann, maybe yours and mine are under the daye rock.! -
I went to a bc support group meeting and everyone agreed that fatigue exists and some cited studies that it persists for 10yrs post dx. A friend sent me some studies on possible causes, but still havent found anything that explains what it feels like. And the goofy thing for me is it seems to come and go. Most days Im fine and can do my usual list of things, other days, I hit the wall after only a few things. Im sure that doesnt help dh in trying to deal w/me.
Thanks Shirlann for all the info, especially on the PTSS.

Fatugue?? Is there another word for it..sometimes I think i am beyond fatigue...then I feel guilty for not being able to get done...no demands are put on me at all..its me...I am used to taking care of everything around the house..almost to a fault...now if it gets done irt does..if not Oh well...its almost like I don't care and on the other hand I get to feel guilty that it doesn't...I just don't have the energy...I do what I can and thats it...I have good intentions but doing just half of one thing is enough....I have three more treatments then on to radiation...I am hoping I will gain some back after the radiation is done...this crap is for the birds...
