That's kind of what I thought but I did tell them and they said I should get my teeth cleaned more often during chemo to prevent problems. I plan to talk to my oncologist about it before I do anything.

AlwaysHope, I almost fell out of my chair laughing, grat post! I need a mood ring for my DH and kids.
Jule, thanks for remembering me, been a busy week. with many positives for me.
Debbie, that is great that they made you Angel of the Month, sounds like a great group of ladies.
Glad everyone else is having a great week also.

My positives for this week so far are....I went back to work(though I hate my job! It was still nice to be there). My DS's baseball team came back from a score of 18-8 in the sixth ining to win their last game of the year, My DD's softball team won their league championship tonight with a score of 14-0. My DH FINALLY got a new liner for our pool, so I will actually get to do some swimming before I start into surgery and all that entails.
Ahhh sorry I have run on here, This week has been Wonderful compared to last week.
Now just trying to gear myself up for seeing the PS for the first time tomorrow.
    (((((HUGS)))))) to all.

B-positive I like that. Sometimes I feel like telling people that it is my blood type, but it is also my attitude.

I have a positive to share - had my tx #7 (Taxol #3) this morning! Only one more to go! (Please, please, please, don't let the bone pain be much worse this time...) And I had my first meeting a few days ago with the radiation onc to plan those treatments. So things are moving right along!

Hi ladies, may I join? My SIL recently emailed me and said she is not as worried about me because I have such a positive attitude and sense of humor - she is more worried about my DH (her brother). He can be more of a "glass half empty" guy. But he is OK too. We all try to be as positive as possible here in my house. Which, by the way, consists of me (age 42), the husband to whom I will be married 4 years on July 12, and my daughter, age 20 who is fabulous. Also our menagerie of 3 cats (Nadia, B.D., and Bella), and two dogs (Scarlett, a border collie/lab mix, and Garrison, an Australian Shepherd/hound mix- we think it is foxhound)all of whom we adopted from various rescue groups in our area. Rescued pets rock, by the way!!

It seems that everyone posts a positive on Fridays and since today is Friday, here are my positives. Well, the first two are hopeful because they haven't quite happened yet:
    1. Jimmy Buffett is coming to Toronto in September!! Tickets go on sale in about 40 minutes, so my positive will be that I will have scored 2 tickets. We've seen him twice before, and you can't be anything but positive at a Jimmy Buffett concert.

    2. I see the PS this evening and since I'm currently sporting 4 drains from my bilateral mastectomy/recon (expanders) June 14, I'm hoping the drains will come out today. Or at least some of them. Since the appointment is at 6 pm, our plan is to then have dinner at our favorite barbecue place. Ribs....mmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!! That probably even counts as positive #3!
    4. Received an excellent pathology report on Tuesday - clean margins on the left, no cancer on the right. HOORAY! My husband emailed everybody at his law firm when we got that news, and yesterday I received from them the most gorgeous floral arrangement I have ever seen. (Lawyers are not all bad! But then I have to think that, I married one!!)
    5. On Monday my daughter took me to the Look Good, Feel Better thing. It was great! We had such a good time. Of course she is now wanting to use all of my products. I may have to hide them! But she also said it made her feel so much better and more positive about things, seeing women in all stages of treatment having a good time and going about their lives. So that was a HUGE positive. The kid has been such a trooper.
    6. Three friends coming over tomorrow, the kind of friends you find yourself laughing all the time with. They are bringing food. I love when people bring food!

Happy Friday. I'll let you know how I make out at the PS and with the Jimmy Buffett tickets...

Oh, I forgot another positive. My husband and I had just about decided that we were not going to try to have any more children, due to the bc diagnosis. I was thinking how awful it would be to have a recurrence while pregnant, and anyway, I didn't necessarily want to wait as long as the doctors want me to (I have a 9yo and an 11mo now, and we aren't looking for another 8 year spread!), and then, of course, I stopped getting my period a while back and who knows if it's coming back. So anyway, I was packing up baby clothes to send to my SIL, and we had basically said that was it for us, when I read the results of a new study in HEAL magazine that showed that women who get pregnant 2 yrs or more after treatment actually experience a protective effect against future bc! Wow! It changed my whole feeling about the possibilities of having another baby and the risks involved. I thought I had to give up that baby #3 dream, and now we're feeling hopeful again - I put a note to my SIL in the baby clothes box saying that I might want them back someday! Anyway, that's sort of a strange "positive," but I felt so happy after reading it - really made me feel like we could still have the life we had planned before we found out I had cancer.

Welcome, Figs. I have found this thread extremely helpful.
My dental appt. went well but I asked my Oncologist about cleanings during chemo and he said NO! Too much chance of bacterial infection. So that counts as a positive to me because I don't really like to go to the dentist. My other positive is I had my first chemo today. It was pretty easy, my husband and friend were with me and we just talked through the whole thing. So far I just feel a little sleepy. So I'm going to go take a nap:) 1 down, 7 to go...

Welcome to Figs... glad you joined us and hope you'll get much encouragement here.

I am waiting for my custom sleeves to come in for my Lymphedema. I am not staying wrapped 100% of the time, but don't tell my LT. LOL I have talked to a few ladies who only wear the compression garmets on an as needed basis, so I am feeling better about the entire thing. Hopefully I can control if without becoming a mummy.

My positive is: Only one more chemo! YES!

Happy weekend to all who enter here!

I raised $350.00 at work for a walk I’m doing for the Lance Armstrong Foundation!!!

Well I've never actually said it to anyone, but for years I've been thinking it. I think I got the idea several years ago when Bobby McFerin's song Don't Worry, Be Happy came out.

My positives today were that I made it through the entire water aerobics class again. The Friday instructor does lots of upper body arm work and I managed to do most of it without modifications. As I got out of the pool a lady I'd never seen before congratulated me for finishing the class and showed me her scar. She didn't give me details but I gather she's another survivor. It's always nice to get a thumbs up from kind strangers.

Cyndi- My doctor didn't want me doing any dental work during chemo, either. The way it worked out I had a cleaning 2 days before my lumpectomy and my next appt is 3 weeks after my last chemo in July. Kind of dental bookends to Chemo.

Jule - I'm a Great Aunt, too. My Great Niece, Irie Lynn, was born on Feb. 5. I told my brother (Grandpa) that I'd be racing her to see who got a full head of hair first. In the pictures he sent from Memorial Day, she appears to be winning, so far. Her hair is about an inch long, but it doesn't cover her scalp.

Donna - I hope you scored with good tickets for Jimmy Buffett, and that your visit to the PS went well. The Look Good, Feel Better class I attended was the best make up party I've ever been to.

Miss S - I have only one more Chemo left, too. I'm counting the days.

Debbie-Good for you for finishing your water aerobics class! I'm hoping to at least be able to walk a little during chemo. And congratulations on only 1 more chemo for you!
Miss S-I'll be praying for you to be able to control your lymphedema. We had a PT speak at our last support group about it. You've got the right attitude! And only one more chemo!
Jule & Debbie-I am also a great aunt. My great nephew is almost 1 yr old. My sister (his grandmother) said great aunt sounds so much older than grandma...
livestrong-Wow, I can't imagine doing a kitchen remodel during chemo! But life goes on and I hope to maintain as much normalcy as I can.
fireba-that is a great positive that more children may be in your future. Even if you decide not to it will be your choice and not something imposed by breast cancer. It's all about feeling like you have control over your life!
Figs-I also went to a look good, feel better event. It was really a turning point for me and got me out of a 2 week depression. I love make-up!
I hope everyone has a great week ahead with lots of positives!
BTW, after I got home from my first chemo, I got really nauseous and threw up:( I took a different anti-nausea drug (Kytril) and seem to be okay now.

OMG, I forgot to post my positive for Friday! So many great threads have popped up lately, I am ashamed to say I got busy on them too!

Valerie, thanks for asking for me. I am doing better. Still have the last of 4 drains hanging on. The ps says it is ok since it is catching whatever infection is draining out. So Ringo (the drain) is giving Laverne (my new left "bloob") a helping hand.

I cracked up the ps's office on Wednesday! They just moved to new quarters right before my surgery. So a lot fo deliveries have not caught up with them, one of them being the janitorial supplies. When I was there last week, they had run out of toilet paper. So this week I took a four pack and tied it up with a gold ribbon and presented it to my ps. He was beside himself. The whole office laughed, including the patients.

    Hi Jas!

    MissS, one more chemo? Yeah!

Hi Jule, I miss our IM's. You must be busy at work, LOL.

Hi to everyone here. I promise I won't go MIA again!

Happy Saturday B-positive ladies. Well, I've resumed the work in progress of de-cluttering my house. Getting rid of stuff that is just sitting in closets, wasting space.

A while ago, I checked out Suze Orman's book, The Courage To Be Rich, from the library and I've come to realize that I hang on to stuff for years past its having any real value to me because of fear of being without. So, I've started the process of sending it out to bless someone else who might find it useful.

I've also got a ton of paperwork to sort through. During treatment,I had so many people dropping by the house unannouced that I developed a very bad coping mechanism of taking trash bags and literally raking anything on a flat surface into it and then stuffing the bags into closets. Now, its come back to bite me in the fanny and I'm starting to go through the bags. So much junk mail!!!! So many trees. I think I've found the real cause of global warming.

Well, I hope everyone has a fantabulous day.

Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson went on a camping trip. After a good meal and a bottle of wine they lay down for the night, and went to sleep. Some hours later, Holmes awoke and nudged his faithful friend awake. "Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see."

Watson replied, "I see millions and millions of stars."

"What does that tell you?" Holmes questioned.

Watson pondered for a minute. "Astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo. Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three. Theologically, I can see that God is all powerful and that we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you?"

Holmes was silent for a minute, then spoke. "Watson, you idiot. Someone has stolen our tent."

Jule and Jas, too funny you guys.

Midweek positive is that the ps pulled the stitches out today. They do feel better without them. He said the last drain is now looking the way it is supposed to now that the infection seems to have let up.

Taking dh to his docs appt to get his scrips renewed. I am hoping beyond hope that ss calls so we can get the a/c fixed in the car.

Jas, the drain stayed in because it was still taking away alot of the fluid caused by the infection. I am off of Levaquin and now on Bactrim. Whatever! My ps had started and was director of the infctious disease unit at our hospital. I trust him and his course of action. He saved my implants so I would not be back in surgery again.

Now, about younger days and what can be traced or not....good thing we didn't have digital cameras back in my college days! Let's just say, I had a good time and should have studied more and partied less.
