    Hello Ellen
How are you doing on that combination? Are you holding stable? I hope your side effects are not bad. I know 7 months is long, hang in there.
I did Carboplatin with Abraxane on a schedule of 3 weeks on, 1 week off in addition with weekly Herceptin and monthly Zometa for my bone mets.
I was on this combination for 6 months last year and it worked very well for me.
Currently I am on Tykerb and Xeloda with monthly Zometa treatments. So far my scans have showed I am responding very well.
    I wish you the best.

I had Gemzar and Herceptin for my liver mets and within 9 months, my liver went into remission. I have now been in remission for almost 3 years and am on only Herceptin.
My liver mets had been large and aggressive-the largest one being 9 cm and I had numerous 2cm tumors throughout, but Gemzar and Herceptin did the job!

    Hi Denny,

I am on Gemzar and Herceptin now. I have liver mets. I am hopeful and scared at the same time. LOVE to see the long survival times! I have a 4 1/2 y/o boy. I NEED to be there for him!

    Anita

P.S. Did you try anything else while doing chemo? Diet? Anything? Just want to make sure I am doing everything I can...

    Anita,
I do try to eat healthily, but I do eat too much, I admit. I eat a lot of fresh fruit and veggies, and limit meat. I avoid packaged foods and diet products.
I try to exercise daily and my onc doesn't let me take any supplements other than vitamins and calcium.
I never did drink much alcohol but avoid it completely now as my liver does have damage.
I bought several books about what to eat if one has cancer, and it really is basic knowledge.
I love the fact that dark chocolate is a great antioxidant and force (lol) myself to eat some daily.
Also avoid green tea the day, before, day of, and day after chemo as it could negate the full effect of the chemo.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Good luck and I am sure that you will do well!

What do you mean by liver mets??? I just found that my liver numbers are elevated and tested positve for the Hep C virus. Anyone have elevated liver levels fro the Herceptin??? My onc sent me to another Dr and he is sending me for more bloodwork and a liver ct scan?? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks...
