Debbie...rest up good and hopefully the new dosage will be more suitable and you will be feeling better in no time. It IS scary what meds can do when not on the right dose but WONDERFUL when the dose is good as they do miraculous things like save lives. Elephant sisters are surrounding you while you get through this intermittent stage. We all know that in just a short time, you will be back to "normal" whatever THAT is!!!

Oh Debbie..you don't have to bring the cute princes if you don't want to. I agree with Cindy..your British English will be great! The one thing I know about in England are scones. I know they have become popular in the States but I'm sure they aren't the same as in England.

Tracy Seattle...CONGRATULATIONS!!!That is terrific!!! They are lucky to have you and you are lucky to get such a great position. So, does this mean we get discounts on shoes and things when we are galavanting on Michigan Ave in Chicago????

I hope they have room in the hotel for our show and tell. I was picturing Paula bringing a kangaroo!!!!

I'm driver today for my inlaws. Had to pick up FIL at the junction as he didn't or wouldn't answer his cell phone so I could pick him up at the bank! Later I will be off to take my MIL to the bus so she can go and visit her sister.

And then still later I'll be meeting my daughter at the train station near her work and we will be going into Tel Aviv to visit my cousin's daughter who is on a trip from her synagogue. She's 17.

    Have a good day everybody..

Hey , I could bring scones , or Bakewell pudding , or Pikelets?? Or Cadburys Chocolate biscuits , or proper fish and chips , Kendal mint cake and bonfire toffee - and a huge shipment of Jammy dodgers - just for our Deb!

Yay for the Jammy Dodgers!!! Kendal mint cake sounds interesting. Cadbury's is of course great chocolate! Proper fish and chips..hmmm...I remember when I was in London back in the olden days (more than 25 years ago!)the first meal we ordered was fish and chips and my girlfriend ordered a milkshake, I think. And I kinda remember that there was an egg dropped in the milk shake. Is that how it's made in England???

My youngest just left to take my MIL to her bus stop so I was released from duty.

Well, I could bring falafel, shawarma, pita, humous, tehina, olives.... I know there is houmus in tehina in the States but it does NOT taste like here! Pita is NOT middle eastern pita, either,in the States.

HA! Yes, there is a discount, but I am not sure how much yet. They also have special sales for the employees a few times a year.... So maybe we can go shopping in Chicago!

Hey - do you think it is worth trying to get tickets to Oprah? I would SO LOVE to see her - but our only day would be on that Friday.....

I did make sure to let my new Employer know that I have vacation scheduled in August to travel to Chicago!!!

Fun! It sounds like we could gather together some International treats to share at our PJ party!!!

    Debbie -
Yes, your British accent will be a treat in itself. Hope you're feeling better each day!

    Tracy -
    Would that be smoked salmon?

No sewing at the moment. I'm still regrouping from vacation and my sister is coming to spend the WHOLE summer with me. She teaches so she gets a lot of time off. I won't be able to create the bedlam I usually do with my reams of fabric and crap so I may leave the sewing for a minute. Plus its summer!

I told you all about open enrollment, I take applications from Memorial Day to Labor day and interview candidates in the winter, this is my dating strategy. It is off to a fine start too!! I told you blondes have the most fun, this hair is getting me the world of attention!!

    Good Evening Sisters,

This wont be a long one as we have another showing at 7:00 p.m. which is 40 minutes away and still have to swifter the floor before leaving the house.

Our people that came to see the house on Saturday for the 2nd time are seeing another home with our agent tonight, so don’t know if they have decided against ours or they are still shopping. He will let me know. Our agent is showing our home to clients on Saturday so my hubby gets ditched out of his bed after working night shift as they are coming at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning. I laughed and told him he had to find somewhere else to sleep on Saturday morning after nights….he is staying at his brother’s.

Things are working out well with Scooby with continued enforcement. She didn’t jump up tonight after being the crate all day which is pretty hard for a 10 month old pup who hasn’t seen you all day. She automatically sits at the sliding door now before she wants out and doesn’t jump on the door to get back in.

We had another rain storm today but it didn’t last long but took the humidity out of the air.

Deb – the quadricycle does sound like fun and hey it doesn’t take much to make me laugh either.LOL.

Tracyseattle – congratulations on your job offer, way to go!! I will have to think of something to bring for show and tell, hey maybe with all the jokes about “Canadian eh” I;m sure I can come up with something.LOL

I;m up for Oprah on Friday, what do you think are chances are of getting them?

Debbie444 – travel insurance here would only exclude payment if something happened as a result of bc not as a result of an accident, don’t understand why it is so much money for you. Glad to hear that you booked your hotel room, what special did you take the rob or pizza special….see my chemo brain isn’t that bad is it sometimes anyway!!!

Glad to hear that the pills seem to be helping out your thyroid, it is not as though you need something else medically to worry about.

What are jammy dodgers? I think you should bring an English translation dictionary with you.

Cindy – keep on chugging along sister, the finish line will get there soon….

Mary – have you had any s/e’s from Tamoxifen or are you switching due to being in menopause. I have been on Armidex for 13 months and my worst s/e is not sleeping properly and of course hotflashes!

Look forward to meeting you in August too my dear sister.

Laura – love your clapping picture, it made me smile when I saw it this morning!

TracyNy – you make me laugh, ha ha open enrollment….post a picture of your new blond hair.

Hello to all my sisters, gotta run and swifter now.

    Love you all!

    hi ladies

well, it's 95 freakin' degrees here and so humid. i'm a sweatball.

i just wanted to share the coolest story...i go to my weight lifting class twice a week and have been going ot this class at the gym for about 6 months or so. the instructor is extremely motivating and has always been positive in helping me get back to weights...especially with the risk of lymphadema and all that. usually, when the class does push-ups, i do something different with weights.

well, today in the class, when it came time for push-ups, i decided to try it. i did 10. the entire class had finished their push-ups, but i kept going to get to 10. after i finished, the instructor asked me quietly, "can i tell them your story?" i said, "sure". so, she announced to the class, "amy just did her first push-ups in almost 2 years. she's a breast cancer survivor and has had to get back the strength in her body and she just did her first push-ups. let's give her a hand." the class all applauded!!! and my instructor came up to me and said, "when you started doing the push-ups, i got tears in my eyes because i'm so proud of you." it was such an amazing moment for me i felt so strong and i've worked so hard to get there.

after class, a woman came up to me and said, "I'm a 20-year survivor. I had 6 nodes and did chemo and radiation. they didn't even give tamoxifen then. and i'm 20 years out from being diagnosed with breast cancer."

seriously, doesn't get better than that. 20 years!!!

just wanted to share keep your fingers crossed...my mommy dog has her big ultrasound on thursday to see how the puppies are...they better be in there!

    love,
    amy

Hey Amy, be proud! You did it, you are back.

Debbie, I think the boat weighs over 2 tons so nope won't be bringing that. I would have to bring fish cakes, lobster or scallops. We also have the BEST strawberries.

    Time for bed, night!

    Fists up!

Tracy, congrats!!! Sounds like a great job, especially if the discount is on the cards..

Debbie, hope you are feeling better, you poor thing.

Ravdeb, lol, kangaroo.. I doubt the notoriously strict Aussie customs will let me take it out. Unless its a toy one.
But kangaroo meat is actually quite tasty, and is the healthiest meat due to being so lean.

Amy, great story. I have started on Pilates now that i am a few weeks post op, but pushups are still soooo hard! I can feel my lat muscles (that have now migrated to my chest) flexing and its a weird feeling.

TracySeattle: Congratulations! You deserve it! I have a niece who used to work as a clerk for Nordstrom, and she got more than a 30% employee discount. Just think... what would a VIP like you get?

Amy: That's truly a heartwarming story... 20 years! Very encouraging...

Debbie: There's a new wrinkle cream that's only available in London. I heard it on the news. I don't know what it's called, but I heard that the store keeps running out of it and shoppers are limited to one each! Might just be a fad...

Last day of school was today. The rest of the week will be spent moving to a Kindergarten class. I can't believe I'm going to change my grade level after all these years! It's bittersweet, this change...

Oh Amy..I had tears reading your post. You are such an incredible inspiration to everybody! And to top it a 20 year survivor in your class! There truly is hope. Gotta keep the faith...

V..I'm laughing over here. I am not sure you realize what you said but you said I could massage you all with Ahava. Ahava is the name of the company that makes wonderful body lotions and so on and the word Ahava is the Hebrew word for love..so yes..I'd be massaging each and every one of you with love...

My darbukas are waiting for me..a couple more weeks and they will be put into action! But alas..I will not be bringing them overseas..too heavy!

I am enjoying this little "game" we are playing about what we could each bring from our own little place on this planet. It reminds me of the kids' game we used to play..."My aunt was on vacation and she brought back....".

Paula..a kangaroo could be practical..she could carry all your stuff in her pouch! I remember you telling us that the kangaroo meat is good and healthy. I am not sure Kangaroo meat is kosher...I mean..I've never had any reason to check it out before! Does it chew its cud or have split hooves? Does it HAVE hooves??? I am not very good with my kangaroo knowledge!!!

Brenda..today is the last day of school here for jr. high and high school. Well..I really don't know why they say it's the last day for high school cuz the kids still have exams..at least some of them do like my son. But it IS the official last day for jr. high as they have no more exams.

So, you are going to be teaching kindergarten? It's good to change as it refreshes the teachers. Are you happy with working with kindergarten? I used to love the younger kids and specialized in tht but as I got older I started prefering the older kids. I've always liked teens anyway and worked with them as well as pre-schoolers. Here, kindergarten is pre-school and they are in a separate building where the younger pre-schoolers are. Kindergarten kids still have their eyes wide open and like school. Will be fun for you.

Must get to my beach. HOt and humid today but walking along the sea shore is always pleasant..even on hot days.

I'm wondering where some of our Rocktober sisters are who we haven't heard from in a while..Linda? Jill? I know that Jill comes on rarely but Linda..where are you????

    Hope all others are well...

    Have a good day everybody!

I know the wrinkle cream (well seen it in magazines anyway) Wrinkles dont bother me too much - at least when i see them in the mirror i know i am still here!!
Well done Scoob while i remember
Paula - we were watching a programme last night about Australian border control - you lot wont let anyone in !! I remember going through customs last time , worrying about a cartom of fruit juice one of the kids had drunk earlier - what i thought they were going to do i dont know.
Brenda - will you enjoy moving around?? Our head tends to move staff every so often , and my friend has only been teaching 3 years but hasnt taught the same class twice.
Amy - that was a good story , only if it was me it would have been my first push ups EVER!!

Today , I havent had a single headache ( i am a wimp on 1/2 strength tablets) AND it has stopped raining , i was starting to get interested in an ark.
How is everyone doing now we are on the right side of ops?
I am not sure i could do Oprah - i would ave to fight the urge to slap her. She get me so cross trying to sort problems out - if half of the audience had her money , they would be able to sort themselves out and not create prime time veiwing.! Perhaps that because she has never sat easily in out TV i dont know

    From Scooby News
    to
    Push Ups
    to
    Darbukas...
sounds as though everyone is doing pretty well.

I'm still keeping busy in the garden, with my paying job, the inside of the house, exercising, and on and on and on...
But, I have to say my favorite part of the day is EXERCISING! I never thought I could be so positive about it! In the past I always had to force myself to go and then I'd be miserable the whole time, but now I actually miss going if I have to skip a day for a reason beyond my control.

    GET-TOGETHER INFO -
ravdeb suggested Navy Pier, and I think that's a great idea. There are many different things to do there, and that would mean one place for the drop-off and one place for the pick-up (return trip back to hotel). We could decide on a time to leave the hotel on Saturday morning, maybe 10-11ish and a time/meeting place for the vans/cars to pick us up for the return...maybe 2-3ish?

    Here's the linkies:
    http://www.navypier.com/things2do/things_home.html

    http://www.navypier.com/MoreInfoEvent.jsp?Event_ID=3426

The first one is the for all of Navy Pier and the second one is a special kids theatre that will be featuring a play that day (I think it's free).

    But anywho...check it out...

As for Oprah...I have no clue what it takes to get tickets. I do know that you have to be at her studio at 6:00 A.M...If you're truly interested in getting tickets, you should check out her website.

    ----------------------------

Hope you're all having a great evening!

Ravdeb, after a bit of googling i found that roo is NOT kosher.. but it dosnt have hooves!! They wouldnt be able to hop around like they do otherwise.
Every now and then there is a story on the news about someone driving along and hitting a roo accidentally, which then got thrown into the car and trashed around. The big ones can actually kill you with their legs.
I've got some great pics of roos i should post.. i am not very good at posting pics, am i? keep promising and forgetting.. i call it zero-esterogen brain (cant use chemo brain excuse anymore i guess.. )

    Hi All!

Sounds like you all are planning to bring something for show and tell. FUN!!!

I got my written offer letter yesterday, so I gave notice at my current job. July 4 will be my last day there (well it is a Holiday - so really July 3 will be my last work day). I decided to take July 5 and 6 off between jobs. Why not??? July 5 is Daves birthday so that will be fun.

Poor Denali had his surgery today (neutering). We dropped him off this morning at 8:30 and picked him up at 4:00pm. He is doing OK but still groggy from the anesthetic. The worst concern is that he will chew/lick his stitches, so the receptionist at the Vet told me to put PANTS on him!!! LOL! So he is wearing boys size 10/12 Boxer shorts! hee hee hee..... Dave didn't like the idea of taking the pants on/off for potty breaks so he went to the pet store and bought a cone collar. Poor Denali..... I will try to get a pic of him for you.

Tracy..hope Denali heals well. I remember when my little dog (not Casey) was spayed. She had that funny collar on and she looked funny from behind when she walkd. She was very tiny and people were all staring at her!
Great news about the job and that works out perfect for you...time to spend Dave's birthday together...

Casey gave me a scare this morning. Our house cleaner was here and first of all...no barking. She ALWAYS barks at the house cleaner! Then when I went in to tell her to go outside, she didn't budge. She was breathing but one eye wasn't closed all the way and it looked like it was rolling around. I got so scared. I tried to wake her by rubbing her head but still no response. Now, she has been sleeping in late for the past few months (old age..she's 17) but this morning NOTHING! Usually in the morning I open the door where she sleeps and she eventually walks out. And she did...slowly. And she's fine. She ate, drank...but boy she scared me! I thought she was dying.

Then, I got an e-mail from my brother who had had a biopsy on a chest lymph node. It is benign but his voice never came back from the procedure. They said it usually improves after a day or two but it's almost a week. His surgeon called him yesterday to give him the good news that it was definitely benign (though they thought it was from the frozen section) and when he heard his voice he said since it's not better, it won't get better. He can hardly talk to be heard. He is being referred to a speech therapist. He said that he's happy that it's NOT lymphoma and so am I but I'm so angry he has this life changing side effect from it. He's young..he's 45. I'm so MAD!

Paula..thanks for the news about the roo meat! Hadn't thought about the leaping with hooves part! Good point.

Cathy? How are you doing these days????

Debbie? hope you are feeling good.

I'm fine with Navy Pier as there really are a lot of fun things to do, restaurants, shopping..and it's on the water which I love! Great place to buy souveniers from Chicago to take home but must warn you..their prices are high!

    It would be fun.

I think we should schedule show and tell for during the pj party.

    Have a good day.

Drs again - to see if we can get over these side effects from the tablets - surely dodgy eyesight , numb face and headaches arent the norm.

Buddy - lend Denali some pants.

Me me me me - i want to goto the pier!! The kids will just want somehwre to part them from their hard earned dollars. Cat is quite excited now she knows Laura neices will be there - think she imagines them , her and Kiersten trapising off into the woods , like in a kids mystery story!

Debbie..numb face and headaches? I think that with Graves Disease there can be eye problems but I am not sure about the numb face and headaches.

Have you considered seeing a neuro-ophthalmologist for the numb face and headaches?

I hope your doc gets this straightened out. Tell him you have no time for all of this stuff and he'd better get you on the right track fast!

Yes..Navy Pier is very attractive for kids as well as adults. Lots of activity there.

Oh wait..didn't you say you have migraines? Could that cause the numb face or is this something totally new?

I've had such good experience with my neuro-ophthalmologist that I again recomment you see one for the eye and numb face stuff....

    Good luck.

Debbie! Hope the Dr. gets your straightened out!

Denali is still not walking much today (typical man - milking it for all it's worth -LOL!). Poor guy....

Deb - Wow I would have been scared too. When your pets get that old you know that the day is coming when they won't be around anymore. It is so hard - I lost two pups last year.

I have a spot that has just appearned under my chin. I thought that I was getting a pimple - you know how they itch when they are getting ready to pop out? Well, this is just a darker spot and is kinda rough feeling - irregular edges. I am a little worried - if it doesn't go away by next week, I may go visit the Dr. It is funny how it just popped up in one day....

I emailed the Oprah show (AGAIN.) Re telling our story and letting them know that we are having a reunion in Chicago and that we would LOVE to attend their show in the audience on 8/24. We probably won't hear from them, but I wanted to give it a try...

Where is Cathy? Where is she traveling too now? Did she tell us?

Hope Linda is OK and Mary... are you out there? We miss you!

Well, coffee & girl time is over. I guess I need to get some work done.

    Have a good day everyone!

Debbie..hope the new doses help. Sometimes it just takes a while to get the right dose. Feel good.

Tracy..I'm worried about that spot you found. Keep an eye on it. That's a wierd place for a spot and all the more reason to watch it.

Okay..I need encouragement to make an appt for the gyne. I haven't seen one in over a year and I must do this. I had gone to a new one in a town nearby before chemo and then saw another one in Dec 2005 in the hospital. Now..we have another new one in our clinic in our village and now our clinic has ultrasound so I can have the vaginal ultrasound when I'm there. But...her name is Dr. Dick! How can I ask for an apppointment with that name??? And then I'll crack up laughing during the examination!!

Have been practicing saying it the way the Israelis say it...Dr. "Deek"!!! She's not Israeli and I'm not sure what she is..Russian maybe. I saw her but never spoke to her. She looks nice but...her name! Too funny!!

Ladies, you sure made me laugh today.
Dog wearing pants that need to be taken off for potty breaks.. Gyno called Dr Dick...(it is NOT a russian name btw)
Tracy - with any skin conditions the general rule is wait for two weeks before worrying, yes, those magic two weeks again. Its amazing how much panicking you can save yourself by sticking to this rule actually.
Especially if its something that popped up overnight - any nasties usually grow slowly.
Debbie - hope you finally feel better!! You must be sick of being sick by now...
