    Happy Birthday Cindy!!

I was up with the chickens again today .... getting ready for work. Thankfully, I will get one day off next week! Monday! Little girl and I may go to Disneyland to see the new Nemo ride if its not too crowded. Have to play it by ear!

Thank you! Thank you! I had a nice birthday yesterday. We went out to our favorite Mexican resturant and I had a beer! Woo-hoo! I've been avoiding alcohol during chemo, just to help out my poor liver.

My best birthday present was that yesterday was my "rest" Friday, so no chemo. Yay! Treatments go three Fridays in a row, then I skip one. So I'm still at three out of 12, but I've pretty well got the pattern of side effects figured out.

I'm a tiny bit queasy on Saturdays and flattened with fatigue on Sundays. Oh, and I'v got a tiny bit of tingling in my fingers/toes. Pretty minimal, overall. The worst part has been losing my hair and having to sit in that chair for nearly four hours at a time. Ugh!

For me, this go-around has been a whole lot easier than 2005. It was a terrible blow to get the diagnosis, but the actual treatment has gone 100 times more smoothly. And this chemo regimen has been so much easier on me. Whew!

Cindy, I'm happy to hear that you had a fun birthday. It's great that your treatments are going more smoothly than the first time. You know I am very, very interested in what is happening to you, not only because you are a Rocktober sister, but also because of your hormone receptor status. Not only that... our treatments were the same the first time around.

Laura, thank you for your thoughtful organization. I like everything you wrote. I'm going with the flow as this will be my first time in Chicago.

It was our annual kickball game yesterday, Staff vs. 5th graders. I kicked the ball, ran to first base, tried to run to second base, but had to run back to first and fell forward in the process. My two elbows and both knees are bruised! I felt stinging, but was able to run back home. I thought I was going to be okay, until today. I can hardly bend forward without my back and neck hurting. Anyway, the 5th graders won (I secretly wanted them to win as they had not won in over 10 years!)!

Amy, in the early 90's one of my brothers had lung cancer and had to have chemo treatments. He had to undergo 2 series of treatments, both 6 months long. The doctor told him not to expect to have any more children after that. He was a widower at that time. He remarried a year after the chemo treatments and his wife got pregnant almost instantly! (My nephew looks just like my brother, who is now deceased.)

    Good Evening Sisters….

Its been a long but exciting day, Scubs (Scooby) is back home, yeh!!! The trainer did some wonderful work with her. A lot of driving there and back, 4 hours but well worth it.

I took our other dog Cody with me to pick her up as the trainer wanted to see how they interact together and to give us some tips. I had Cody on the lease and was walking along the long driveway and she brought Scooby out on the lease with her paks to join us so that she remained calm. She looked so cute with the pak on and was as proud as a peacock with her ears pinned right to the back of her head as she was concentrating so hard while walking with the pak and trying very very hard not to get excited about seeing me. The trainer said that if I made a big fuss when first reintroduced to her that she would pick up that something was wrong and wonder why she was left by us two weeks ago. The plan worked perfectly and I did get an opportunity to squeeze and pet her after she did well on the walk…..

I was actually also able to take her out the back of our lot tonight and throw the rubber toy to her and she listened to me and did not jump up once!

Just spoke to our agent and the showing was amazing today, the guy's wife loved the house and property as well. The train went by when they were here as well, so they got a taste of how it will sound, hopefully it doesnt scare them off but our agent doesnt think it will. Our agent took them to the house two doors over to the left of us for comparison purposes and she wanted to get out of there pronto, hated it which is good for us.LOL. He said he is hoping to hear back from them tomorrow and hopefully present us with an offer!

He also commented on how immuculate the house showed and I replied yah I was up until almost 10 last night scrubbing the floors.LOL.

Also had another showing right after one tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. Who the heck gets up that early on a Sunday morning.LOL. That will bring the total showings to 5 this week.

My dh is up at the trailer and was suppose to be working on doing the fence but the son in law of the guy who was doing our room went awol and my dh has been roofing with him since 7:00 a.m. this morning. I told him what is up with that, we pay this guy to do the work and you have to help him! Needless to say I am not happy about it….Told my dh that the guy should charge us ½ the price since he was helping him.

The weather continues to be gorgeous here this weekend and not as humid.

Cindy – happy belated birthday!! Glad that chemo is easier on you this time around, not that it is something that we want to do but necessary to get rid of the beast once and for good.

Tracyseattle – Denali seems to have settled in quite nicely to her new home and owners. I understand about the fence thing, when Scooby was a puppy she got out of our lot 4 times in one week when my sister was watching her. We had to puppy proof the fence, no problems since.

How did the 2nd interview go at Nordstorm’s? When do you find out? Sounds promising….

Paula – you will complete our International room for our get together, cant wait to meet up with everyone and glad that you are able to make it. How much time are you going to be spending in the U.S. since it is such a long trek?

Deb – cheaper sounds great to me. I;m with you it doesn’t matter what we do on Saturday night, am up for what ever everyone else wants to do. It will just be so great for all of us to finally get to meet and enjoy each other’s company and have a good time.

Are quadricycles bikes for 4 people? That would be a hoot but I probably wouldn’t be able to walk the next day.LOL.

Amy – glad to hear that you are in a kinder space with respect to being a mom. Your dh is extremely supportive of you and seems to want to protect you. When the time comes everything will work out.

Laura – I know that Cody is a cutie, she gets lots of love everyday…. I briefly browsed the agenda but haven’t had a chance to read it well, lots of effort on your part….thankyou!

Victoria – my worst s/e from A/I’s is not sleeping well at night, it so sucks some nights…

What is that orange drink in the picture you posted? Looks yummy.

Graycie – still waiting to hear back from our agenda to get feedback on the 2nd showing today.

Maryanne – only picked Scooby up this afternoon but do see a big change in her and how she listens to me.

That’s great news that you finally got your mri and are dancing with NED.

TracyNy – the leaf man sounds like my dad. My mom said he was mowing the lawn the other morning at 7:00 a.m. If I were their neighbours I would be helping out the window at him.

Kelly – enjoy your day off on Monday, you have earned it!

Brenda – take it easy on your poor body, the baseball game sounded fun though….

    Have a great Saturday evening.

    Love
    Michele

    Hi Everyone!

Well, tonight we decided to take Denali and go to a parade. BIG MISTAKE! I didn't stop to think about all of the noise assocaited with a parade. Poor Denali.... The marching bands (drums) were the worse. I thought he was going to have a heart attack! Needless to say we left early right after the Aquafest float passed us by.

The last minute interview at Nordstroms on Friday went really well. It was with the manager and mostly she just described the department to me and how they do business. She didn't ask me many questions. She once said, "I think we will start you out on the financials team". So does that mean I am going to get an offer???? Of course, a recruiter called me on Friday and wants me to interview at Boeing. It just makes things more confusing!!!

We will see what this week brings.... Well, Dave and Denali are both here next to me sound asleep in front of the TV!!! I think I am going to be the smart one and go to bed before I fall asleep!

    Talk to you tomorrow!

Cindy..you sound good! I'm glad the chemo is not as bad as it was in 2005. Sounds like you had a fun birthday.

    V...great pic for a b-day celebration!!!

TracyS..sounds like you'll get a job with no problem and it will be a huge decision to make! Good luck.

Michele..the quadricyle has 4 wheels and I think you can get even more than 4 people in one on some of them. We took one where 3 of us sat on the bench so the middle person didn't peddle. We had to keep switching off which is good. Gives you a break now and then. It's fun. We couldn't stop laughing. It was my girlfriend, me and my daughter. Was a riot. Okay...doesn't take much to make me laugh, though!

maryanne..I hope I didn't miss telling you congrats on keeping NED as your dance partner!

I'm waiting for my car..story of my life. The kids took it over yesterday and now that I NEED it to get myself to the train, my youngest needed to drive somebody home. I'm so mad. I can take the later train but hoped to get there early and sneak in earlier for my field vision test. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..now for sure I'll need to take the later train and walk very fast to the hospital. Oh well...

Have a good Sunday and Happy Fathers Day to those who celebrate it..

V, Was that picture taken at your house? Look's like you were having fun........lol

Michele, I'm glad everything is working out with scooby. I will keep my finger's crossed that you get an offer on the house. It's sound's promising........

Tracy, When it rain's it pour's.........Isn't that the way it always' is? .........decision's, decisions, I hate them because I am the worse at making up my mind. I wish you the best in finding the perfect job. You are good at what you do and they know it and I bet the multiple offer's will keep rolling in.

Ravdeb, Those bike rides sound like fun. I might be interested in doing that.........lol......anything for a laugh.

To all those father's out there Happy Father's day.......

Sorry I havent been around - I am feeling lousy, sick and very grumpy ,so keeping my head down until I could have something to say that is happy and positive rather than spreading this malaise to everyone.

I'm sorry you're feeling so lousy. Is your throat still swollen? Is it a goiter? My aunt had a goiter, but I can't remember what they did for it. It fixed it, though.

A friend of mine had thyroid cancer when she was in her early 20s. They did surgery and she takes iodine pills every day, but never had any other problems...and that's been 20 years ago. I hesitated to even mention the "C" word, but I wanted you to know that it appears to be very easy to treat. (But I hope that's not what it is.)

Have I made you feel worse rather than better? (Hope not!)

    Oh thankyou ladies!
I am feeling a little better this morning , perhaps its because the suns out? I hate this bit of the day tho as they all go out to school and work and leave me ! The tablets have stopped making me have migraines today so perhaps this is the turn??
We booked the hotel the other night and that lifted my spirits rather - what didnt was getting quotes for travel insurance - firms dont even want to carry me , not even with a high cost!! Have found one prepared to take me ata cost of £140 so that doesnt seem to bad now that i have the big no no from the other firms!
Now i am going back to read the rest of the posts i missed , may be gone sometime!

Maryanne - thankyou for seeing me in surgery! Dr said that another name for what i have is ..Graves disease, my thyroid is registering 100 instead of 20 , and my pituary is reading 0.05. I am hoping they will sort it with tablets as the radioactive iodine treatment creates a high risk of breast cancer , stomach cancer and kidney cancer - I have already been in that queue once !
Hope you had a great birthday Cindy.
The dog looks cute Tracey - he looks like my friends Border Collie , called Rosie.
Brenda - you have leant the hard way , like me , that noone over the age of 30 should ever play any form of rounders in public! Hope it doesnt hurt still.
Amy - hope things calm down there soon. Isnt it hurtful when they tell you half of a medical thing - urggghh makes me cross for you.

Oh Debbie..you have the opposite of what I have. Glad you are feeling better today. good the migraine is behind you.

    a joke for today...

Germans in an Audi Quattro arrive at the Italian border.
The Italian Customs agent stops them and tells them: "It'sa illegala to putta 5 people in a Quattro."
"Vot do you mean it'z illegal?" asks the German driver.
"Quattro meansa four" replies the Italian official.
"Qvattro is just ze name of ze automobile", the German says unbelievingly.
"Look at ze papers: zis car is designed to kerry 5 persons."
"You can'ta pulla thata one on me!", replies the Italian.
"Quattro meansa four. You hava 5 people ina your car and you are thereforea breakinga tha law!."
The German driver is angry, - "You idiot! Call ze supervisor over, I vant to speak to somevone viz more intelligence!."
"Sorry", says the Italian, "he can'ta come. He'sa busy with 2 guys in a Fiat Uno...."

hee hee hee - Deb! I like your joke!

Debbie - thinking of you, I am so sorry you are having to deal with this. We are here for you! I just love that we all have each other.....

Im trying to think of something fun for our get together. something like a "show and tell" where we each bring something from where we live to share with each other.... Possibly a food that is popular there, or like for Deb - some pebbles from her beach that she tells us about... How about it? Do you want to do something like that? For Seattle, I might bring some smoked salmon or maybe some special coffee....

My friend walked in the Komen Race for A Cure on Saturday - she brought me some cool freebies that they were handing out there! A pink baseball cap with a rhinestone bc ribbon on it, a ford scarf, a pink rubber duckie.... Wow - good free stuff!

Cindy - I am so glad to hear that you are finding it easier this time. It is kind of reassuring to me to know that if I would have to face the treatment again that it could be better than before..... Hang in there! You are doing great! I am glad you were able to celebrate your birthday.

Well, off to work with me.... Monday. UGH!

    love ya, sisters!

    Hello all:
Have caught up reading all your posts.
Had a busy weekend. We celebrated my husband's birthday and had to do errands related to estimates on our damaged van and arranging for a rental for the next week.
Had a check-up by the NP at the oncologist office and all is well. Will get blood test results in a few days and may go from Tamoxifen to AIs. Also made appointments for the next mammograms in July.
So, that's the latest from me.

I hope Debbie, that you'll soon feel better.
Cindy, wishing continued "success" in dealing with treatment.
Tracy, hope your job quest turns out in a way that will be best for you. I like your "show and tell" idea.
Laura, I read the proposed agenda and agree with it. I am open to any of the possibilities, except a ballon ride. I'll watch from the ground if the group is going to do that. I look forward to seeing your home on Saturday night. Mostly, I just look forward to being able to talk to my elephant sisters face-to-face.

Hello to everyone and have a good afternoon & evening.
    Mary

Cindy - thanks for the info . I went through jst ticking it all off - how come ididnt realise earlier??
Roger had to come home from work today as i was being so sick continuously , and i was just crying from the pain in my head - felt about 4 years old . After Rog talking with the doctor , it turns out that this was all caused by my tablets! He has re jigged the doseages . Just taken my night time ones - waiting to see what happens.
I am not a big royalist - my Mum was. I quite like Princess Anne as she is mostly self supporting and my taxes arent being taken up protecting her kids as they roll out of nightclubs. Dont know what i would bring.

Yeah Tracy! I knew you would land a good job.

Debbie, I have quite a few patients with Graves disease. Some got better with meds and are on nothing now, some went on for Rad I and others have had their thyroids removed. It is not unusual for them to become underactive over time and require supplemental thyroid hormone. All have normal thyroid function once control is achieved. Are you taking some time off till you feel better? You should see an ophthalmologist as well as there are significant eye problems that can happen , even with meds. Don't worry, you will feel better soon.

I have to book our room Tracyseattle...

    Fists up!
