Laura, I forgot to mention. I think that is very gracious of you to offer your home on Saturday night. I think it would be fun and much better than a restaurant. So Hey girls, What do you think?

There's never a dull moment is there?

Amy, sorry about your news. Sometimes its good to take a break from all this. I'd be upset too.

Debbie, bad enough about the car thing now you have thyroid issues. You'll be alright though, you Wards are a resilient bunch.

Yukon and Denali: Aren't they trucks?! Nice dog, I'm glad your two men are getting along well.

Cathy and I met for dinner last night. Its like we've always been friends! We had a nice dinner and a stroll along the Brooklyn promenade, she'll post the picture when she settles back in at home.

I'm busy preparing for an audit that's why I've been scarce.

    Hello My sisters,

Its hotter than heck here. Gosh we complain when the weather is too cold and complain when it is too hot.LOL. Honestly it is very humid the past few days with today being 32C. I am so happy to have a/c in my car. This humidity is not the best either for extremely curly hair, ha ha!!

We had three showings since yesterday. One yesterday is very promising. A couple in their early 30’s with no children and hey he didn’t have a problem with our stairs, yes!!
Our agent’s associate said this morning that he fell in love with our house and the lot and wants to bring his wife by on Saturday for a second showing. It was kind of funny as I was sitting in the house on the couch pretending I was reading a book as he was an hour late and I had already come back to the house. He suggested that I come back into the house as it was his fault he was late. Waiting to hear back what time they will be coming by…we are trying to not get too excited as our last second showing before never transpired as the people cancelled out at the last minute.

My sister is home from the hospital but still continues her ongoing care with therapists but it is nice to have her home as I see her everyday at lunch as she lives with my parents.

I just wanted to take a minute to honour our sister Roza who left us this morning, what an inspiration she was to all of us….she will be missed.

Cindy - hope all is well and you are getting through this okay.

Laura – your basement looks so bright and beautiful. It would be awesome to have a basement that size but would hate to clean it. Our “little one” comes home on Saturday, cant wait to give her a huge hug but not to spoil her so that she thinks she is the queen again. The trainer seems to have done some great work with her including tracking and wearing a back pak carrying waterbottles on either side. She absolutely loves it.

Thanks for the kind thoughts about my sister, she is the best!

Deb – how did your trim turn out? Glad to hear that no one broke into your house and that you were able to get out with those other cars blocking your way. I love the beach too but no water around here but there is at our trailer but no real waves, it is a calm lake.

The hotel arrangements sound great, do you think that I would have to call the hotel to tell them that yourself and Brenda and possibly Paula are staying in our room or is that done when you check in as I have already reserved the room on my credit card?

Paula – happy to hear that you are feeling well and enjoying yourself. Post the pictures as soon as you can.

Victoria – kudos to you in completing the Komen Race and running to top it off, I;m impressed.

Tracyseattle – your new pup is adorable, love the colouring and he looks so sweet. It reminds me of our dog Cody who is a hearding dog. By the sounds of it Dave has already grown to love the dog just as much as you. Here is a picture of our herding dog Cody, she is going to be 12 in September.

    image

The best of luck on your in person interview, fingers crossed for good news.

Debbie444 – Mark looks really serious and concerned concentrating on the camper. I still say he would make a great mechanic. What colour is the camper going to be? There is a guy in our small town that has an old Volkswagen van and it is green, he is hippy like and always has the van stocked with empty beer cases in the back window.

That abandoned home looks like an old castle, what a shame that now one lives there….

What did they say was wrong with your thyroid? Why do you need radioactive iodine?
    I’m confused….

Mary – those bruises will heal, thankfully you are okay. Yes, seatbelts do save lives!

Gracyie – our showings were all boom, boom the first three weeks and then it teetered off for a few weeks, had 2 showings a week ago and then 3 already this week…it goes in spurts. We are hoping that the people that are coming back Saturday buy it….would be so great to get that stress off of us.

I’m also posting at the same time as you as it is taking me so damn long to type this post, haa haaJ

Amy – I am sorry that you are feeling bruised and battered right now. You have the right to feel this way. Chemo really does a number on our bodies and breast cancer takes a lot away from us but don’t let it take away your dream of becoming a mom some day. It will all work out I feel it in my heart.

TracyNy – wow, you got to meet Cathy. Cant wait to see the pictures! Good luck on your audit.

Have a great evening ladies and hello to all my sisters that haven’t posted in a few days.

Linda – hope you are doing okay.

    Love Michele

Michelle - Cody looks like a really sweet dog. I like hearding dogs - they all seem to have similar tempraments. I have had several Shelties and Denali seems a lot like they were.

Well, my interview clothes are ironed. Denali has had his dinner, Dave has instructions tomorrow for their first day alone together. Dave is going to be away from the house for several hours so I fixed up Denali's Kong - put some P-nut butter and a couple treats inside, that should give him something to do while he hangs out in his crate.

Dave spent all afternoon fixing the gates and filling dirt in under the fence so that we don't have to worry about Denali being out in the yard.

    Busy day at home today.....

Headed to bed. Sleep well, my sweet sisters!

Denali - what a beautiful name! Love all the dog pics.

Amy, you've got another 4 years before you can even start thinking about kids. Take this time to live for yourself. And when the time comes - start thinking and planning and doing all the tests that have to be done.
I understand exactly how you feel - i am in the same boat. Well, actually, i am older than you, so i am worse off.
But you know what, i've decided - whats the point being upset over something i have no control over?? I am sure there will be plenty of time for that once i am off Zoladex/Tamoxifen.
We all had to pay bloody high price for something others take for granted - assurance in having a tomorrow. And we dont exactly have it anyway, do we?? Life is not fair... but i'll take it over the alternative any day!!

Aawww girls, you are making me feel guilty with all that get-together talk. Well, since i should be getting a pretty hefty tax payout back with all the medical expenses (we can claim some here), I think i might just make it!!
Any spare room for me left?

yes, Paula..you are in the International Room! I do hope you join us..Michele, Brenda, me and you!

Michele..I think we need to tell them how many people are in the room. We pay when we get there but there could be a rate for different numbers of people per room. Your dog is really handsome! My trim came out fine. He didn't cut too much off though he asked me if I wanted it shorter this time. I said no. Looks the same as before..just neater, I guess. I have not fallen in love with my new, afer chemo hair. Don't know what to do with it so I am keeping it short.

TracyS..Denali is beautiful! I'm so glad Dave is enjoying him too. Have fun! And good luck at your interview. Sounds promising.

TracyNY and Cathy..great that you got to meet finally! can't wait to see the pics.

    TracyNY..good luck with the audit....

I don't mind going to Laura's, or going to a restaurant or staying at the hotel, or ordering pizza.

I, too, am sad about Roza's death. She was chipper even when she was very, very sick. Special woman who is already missed.

My youngest is graduating high school tonight. I can't believe we will have no more kids in high school! I'm feeling old...

Roza was one of the mets ladies... i just read about her passing today. Its very, very sad, she was a lovely, kind and supportive person. I didnt even know she was in a bad way, her posts were always so positive... It seems she went downhill very fast.

    hi ladies,

thanks for all the support. i'm exhausted. cried all day yesterday. my husband even said, "thank you for crying for both of us". we spent last night just being with each other. i wrote our doctor to see if he could explain the test results a little bit more, but in a nutshell...my ovaries are damaged from chemo, so they're not producing the eggs that they should. at least we may be able to forget about birth control altogether!

i cried for a while because i just feel so damaged. my best friend summed it up the best and said that there was no need to feel damaged...i did nothing wrong to do this nor did i deserve it...instead, i should realize that i was brave enough to give everything i got and do everything i could just so i can stay in everyone's lives and be healthy. me being healthy is the most important thing. so, my family and friends are upset, but if they had to choose between me and a baby, they always choose me...who cares if it's not my egg? maybe it's a good thing in that... it would be hard for me to worry that i could give a daughter breast cancer.

so, we had a cry, and now we're pulling it together. my best friend has already offered her egg to us and we'll just see what happens. it'll be my baby no matter what.

i'm just amazed at chemo doing this. maybe it's a good thing in terms of cancer, but i can't shake that feeling that i've lost something. ugh, just writing that has me crying again.

ok...i'm going to go paint my toenails before work.

    love you,
    amy

I just logged on and read bad news and good news...

The bad news is: Roza's passing. So sad, but I hope we will be able to find comfort knowing that she is no longer suffering from the wretched beast.

The good news is: PAULA'S PROBABLY GOING TO JOIN US AT OUR GET-TOGETHER! Yay!

Amy... Chemo is harsh and it does rotten stuff to us. That's one view. The other view is that I have a strong belief that things happen for a reason. It could be that you won't have to worry giving bc to your daughters. It could be something else. I don't know what it is. But it's in a plan. I believe that. So, just allow it to be your plan. When you do, I think it all works out for the best. I know it's hard.

So paint your toenails and put color in your life. Yes, chemo and cancer took something away as it did to each of us whether physically, mentally or both. And we have to work a bit harder to add the color and fill in the spaces. But we can do it. Crying will cleanse you (and your dh )and toe polish will symbolise the color you are adding to yourself...You are a tough lady. You will get through this. We are the elephant sisters who will surround you and lift you with our trunks.

    Love you, Sister!

AWWWWW, that is so sad about Roza. I never had the pleasure of talking with her or reading her post's. I am sure she was a very lovely women and will be sadly missed.

Amy, I totally agree with your friend. She couldn't have said it better. You should never feel damaged, you are healthy not damaged.....You got rid of all the damage when you had surgery, chemo, etc. and you worked hard to do it...... If anything you should be proud of yourself for being so strong in conquering the beast......

Paula, GOOD NEWS, Glad to hear you might be coming in August.

Michele, How is scooby doing? Cody is cute. I hope by the time you read this you will have signed on the dotted line and there is a SOLD sign on your house.

Tracy, How did the interview go?

Debbie, Thinking of you. How are you feeling?

Well, off to work....last day, yay!

    Everyone, Have a good one......

I don't think the interview went all that well. I guess I don't interview well, or at least that is how I feel. They asked some good questions and they weren't hard answers more like "Why do you want to leave your current job?" "Why do you want to work here?" I just don't feel confident that I had good solid reasons..... We will see I guess.

Not sure if I told you (chemo brain) but I have an interview next Wed with Community Transit for a Project Coordinator position. They are gonig to give me a TEST in Microsoft Project!!!! Now I have used Project in the past (5+ years ago) and I know that I can come up to speed on it as I understand and use all of Microsoft's products, BUT A TEST???? Now I have to get a book and study! UGH!!!

On the home front - Denali is the most AWESOME Dog! I feel so right about our choice. He has settled into our home and has made us his people (heard). It is fun to watch him as he does try to "heard" us.... He gets upset if we both aren't in the same room and when I walk away from the room that Dave is in, he stands in front of me so that I can't walk forward..... funny! He also has this thing where he gathers his toys all together in one place. Last night I was throwing the tennis ball for him in the yard and he kept taking it back into the house and putting it with the rest of his toys instead of playing catch with me. GREAT. I have an obsessive/compulsive dog....

Paula - I am so glad that you think you are going to come! YAY!!! I can't wait to see each of you and give you a huge ((hug)).

Amy - you are such a sweetie... this will all work out for the best as Deb said. There is a reason and you are meant to be parents of someone. Time will tell who that someone is, but it will be the right thing......

I am not very good at responding back to each of you, sorry for that.... Usually it is because I am on the run...

Love you all, have a good Friday!

Our Get-Together/Proposed Agenda (please read through this entire post):

Any suggestions, ideas, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
    -----------------------------------------------------

    THURSDAY:
For those of you arriving on Thursday, you will probably want to unwind, grab some dinner, perhaps at the resort or at a nearby restaurant. Once you have all checked in, I would love to head over and dine/hang out with you. I can come up with some restaurant suggestions or if there is something else you would rather do, that's fine to (maybe this could be tattoo time). There's a great outdoor shopping mall nearby: Pottery Barn, Chicos, Bombay Company, Williams Sonoma, GAP and lots, lots more. We could grab a bite and shop or if you want you can reserve a ticket at the Lincolnshire Theatre...(if it's not booked up). The play that will be performed that night is called "Married Alive" and I think it starts at 8:00. Here's the linkie: http://www.marriotttheatre.com/musicals_married_alive.asp for price/availability.

    FRIDAY DAYTIME:
About 15 minutes from the resort is a shopping town called Long Grove. There's 80 quaint shops with everything from antiques, to unique home decor items, to souvenirs. It's cute...all of the shops are in antique houses, so it looks like a town rather than a MALL. There are several restaurants (including a tea house) and there's also an "Apple Haus" that serves homemade apple pie, ice cream, etc. The shop's prices are reasonable and they're clustered together within walking distance of each other. It's really a nice place to shop. (Whenever I want a special gift or something unique, that's where I go.) Here's the linkie: http://www.longgroveonline.com/

And don't forget...the resort has a FAB pool - so if you just want to chill poolside - that's fine too. It also has a tennis court, nature trails, fitness center and more. You can go to their website for more info.

But we must remember to save energy for our PJ party!

    FRIDAY EVENING:
Our suite will be available after 3:00 pm. Ravdeb suggested we have a happy hour at the suite - which we can certainly do, so let's plan on meeting at the suite at 4 or 5:00?. (Most of you will be arriving at various times throughout the day.) There's a food store close by, which we could drive to (and some of you girls will have cars also). Even if we just want snacks we can shop there. And, we can get the fixin's for the martini's, Mojitos, etc. If we want to order pizzas (so we eat "bad" food for one night...no big deal! LOL) or salads or anything else for that night's PJ party, we can do that as well. We can all sleep at the suite, or you can stumble back to your rooms...LOL (I am planning on sleeping/passing out there. LOL)

    SATURDAY (DAYTIME):
I hope we're not too hung-over (pack some Aspirin, just in case)! LOL I think most of you have expressed an interest in heading to downtown Chicago. The resort has 2 vans that can each hold 14 people and they can take all of us downtown for approx. $15 per person (that price is round trip) - Also...there's a train station not far away and if there's enough cars in the group, we could drive to the train station and park and ride. You will need to decide what you want to do, in advance, so reservations can be made and to insure availability of the below attractions.

(If any of you don't want to do any of the below - you can still head downtown and just shop on Michigan Avenue and/or visit Oak Street Beach.) Those of you who won't be in town early enough
to go to Long Grove on Friday, you have the option of going there on Saturday if you don't want to go to downtown Chicago.

    Here's some ideas:

    Hot Air Balloon Rides
    http://www.wedofly.com/hot_air_balloon_rides_fox_river_valley.htm
(This is located near the resort, not downtown. So if this is what you want to do, you wouldn't be able to go downtown too.)

    Chicago Architecture Foundation River Cruise
90 min. tour of river skyline
    Chicago Architecture Foundation

    312 922 3432

Chicago Double Decker / Trolley Tour

    Odyssey Cruise

    Spirit of Chicago Cruise
    Lake Michigan and River
    Spirit of Chicago
(I think this one serves a sit-down lunch)
    http://www.spiritcitycruises.com/ch/index.jsp

    MUSEUMS:
http://www.msichicago.org/ Museum of Science and Industry
    http://www.fieldmuseum.org/ The Field Museum
    http://www.artic.edu/aic/ The Art Institute
    http://www.mcachicago.org/ Museum of Contemporary Art
    http://www.sheddaquarium.org/ The Shedd Aquarium

    SATURDAY EVENING:
This will be our last night to spend time with each other. After a fun day downtown, and after you've had time to get back to your rooms, and freshen up a bit, we can do 1 of 2 things (I could also set up a poll to decide this):

1.) I can locate a restaurant that would accommodate a group our size and have them reserve some tables for us. I would try to find a rest. that isn't very crowded or loud, but I think there's several that we can choose from. I can also check into us having dinner at the resort in one of their restaurants. (I don't think we will have enough people to book a banquet room and even if we did, I think it would be expensive.)
    or
2.) I would be happy to host a get-together at my house for a buffet/very casual dinner, cocktails, etc. (perhaps 5/6:00ish?). Several of you have PM'd me suggesting this, and I would love to welcome you to our home. Nothing elaborate, but surely a comfortable/relaxing/quiet atmosphere. I would probably need some help from you girls, putting out food, etc. The kids could run around outside - instead of being cooped up in a restaurant. And, since I am not incurring travel/lodging costs, this could be my "contribution". A while back the dreaded troll didn't like the idea of visiting a "strangers" house. Not to worry...we haven't murdered anyone recently, nor do we plan to in the near future.LOL Several of you: Cathy, Debbie, Cindy, RoseMarie and perhaps others...will have cars, so I don't think transportation here will be a problem. You may have to sit on each other's laps...just kidding. (Our house is about 15-20 minutes from the resort.)

(If no one wants to go downtown on Saturday, we could get-together at my house earlier in the day, making it a late lunch-into-evening get-together instead of a 5/6:00ish evening get-together).

I am fine with whatever is decided. The important thing is that we have a great time together, regardless of where we meet!

And again, if any of you have any other suggestions/ideas, we can look into them as well.

    SUNDAY:
A day of rest...you may want to have breakfast (there's several restaurants at the resort), do a few laps in the pool, sit in the hot-tub, whatever...before you each head back to your part of the world.

Debbie and family (and anyone else staying past Sunday): I think you will be here on Monday...we will talk amongst ourselves about plans for that day.

Tracy and anyone else interested...tattoos can certainly be done - we'll fit it in, no problem.

    ------------------------------

Once everything has been decided, I will PM each of you with the final details.

If I've missed anything...please let me know!

    Whew...

Tracy..Good Luck! They will be sorry if they don't hire you!!!!!

Laura..my goodness you've done your homework!

I heard that the Chicago Architecture cruise is well worth it. I know people who have done it and they said it was interesting. I'd like to do that or any other cruise..NO BANANA! I've done that.

I'm willing to do pretty much what others want to do. I'll be in Chicago for close to 2 weeks anyway and can do all those things whenever I want. Just no Banana!!!! I did that in Cyprus and that was enough for me!

When I'm in Chicago, I usually do the museums..not all but some. The Art Institute is superb for those interested in art. There is always an interesting exhibit.

Walking on Michigan Ave has never stopped entertaining me. I absolutely love Michigan Ave and it would give those of you unfamiliar with Chicago, a taste of the beautiful city that it is. And there is Nordstoms where Oprah shops! Walking along Michigan Av you would see and learn some of the history of the city, appreciate the architecture and shop in the fancy stores. And you can walk along Lake Michigan, too. I walk in Chicago and rarely take a bus or cab. You would be able to see the Bean I think it's called. That is really cool. My mind is a blank but there's some really neat new water thing in the Millenium park and I can't remember what they call it. It's new and worth seeing and even putting your feet in the water.

Navy Pier is fun and you can rent bikes and quadricycles which are hilarious to ride. I did that last summer.

Well, that's what I have to add to the Chicago part. I love Chicago.

Hey, long time no post. Busy ,busy here. It is the end of the year everything for the kids. Exams start next week. Thank goodness I am not writing.I can still remember the terror of it all.

Amy sometimes docs are wrong. I thought I was through menopause, then this week voila, my "friend" was back! So I had an egg... I don't know how he can tell your eggs are damaged without retrieving them. I would remain hopeful. Stick with lasts weeks plan of living now as newly weds and worrying about the fertility issue when the time comes. Who knows, in four years you may be in a different space totally in your mind. It is tempting to plan our lives but as you know curve balls happen. I am off to my gyne to have my IUD put back in as a pregnant 46 year old is not a pretty thought. LOL.

Paula, great that you are trying to come along. What a long trip for you.

Tracy, hope you get situated soon in a new job. It is ahrd to put yourself out there. Be patient, the right one is coming your way. And a new puppy for you. Awwwwwwwww...nothing like a frisky new pet. He will keep you exercising.

Debbie, I read about your symptoms. Has your bloodwork confirmed a thyroid condition? Will you Hav a scan and US? Most thyroid problems are easily dealt with. The first step is finding out if your gland is functioning normally or not.If not meds are often used to control your symptoms. Graves disease is a particular kind of overactive disease. It can be treated with meds or surgery or radiactve iodine(usually one treatment).

Laura, the plans sound great. I would be up for a balloon ride , anyone else? Debbie? Otehr than that I will likely relax by the pool. I need a break and shopping is not a break in my books. Restaurant or your place would suit me fine too.

Nice to see your smiling face Tadah and good to hear that you and Cathy had lunch.

Scooby must be back Michele...I do hope she has changed and you have changed too so you can all get along. Hope your house sells soon.

I finally had my MRI. And it was fine. Yeah. All bloods normal too. Surgeon checked my site and no sign of recurrence. I am on a clear sail at the moment.

Cindy, 4down 8 to go? I think. Hope your spirits remain up and your energy is good.Is it any easier this time? Mentally?

A warm hello to all the rest of you.

    Fists up!

ok, i just emailed my fertility doctor and he wrote back to explain the bloodwork test again and it looks like maybe things aren't as bad as I thought? Here's what he said:

"The Anit-mullerian hormone test measures a hormone produced by
developing follicles in the ovary. The more follicles that are
available in a month, the higher the hormone level will be. You level
was low 0.2, therefore the conclusion is that you have very few
follicles in the ovaries. It says nothing about any damage to the eggs
that are present, just that the number of eggs is very small."

He said that this is not a result of Tamoxifen. It is most likely from chemo, but that being said...he said contraception is essential because it doesn't mean the eggs are damaged and could still result in a pregnancy.

So, I think maybe I'm just limited and challenged, but we can still be hopeful that one of those eggs is super strong and just does what it's supposed to when it's time.

It's all so confusing and emotional and overwhelming, but I'm a control freak, so I guess it's good to figure all this out now. My husband said he likes that things are gray and not black and white...when there's gray, there's hope.

Thank you ladies for your sweet words. I'm sorry if I talk about this a lot....it's just the hardest part of life after chemo.

    Love,
    Amy

Well, Amy, that certainly sounds a ton more hopeful than you thought. Like MaryAnne said..ya only need one mighty egg..you may just need to "play" more when the time comes to make that little one and hey..that aint so bad!

Cindy, where are you? Hope all is well and you had a fun birthday with all the trimmings!

Can anybody tell me why it is that the lawn care man with that wretched leaf blower has to come on Saturday mornings? I mean, can't they do it in the week when everyone is getting up to go to work? Why must my weekend lie in be disrupted by that daggone motor?!

    Oh, happy birthday Cindy!

Tracy NY..it's a regulation apparently to disturb people's sleep on the weekends. Last Saturday they were up at the crack of dawn, practically under my bedroom window, with a huge tractor clearing out the lot next to us. WHY ON SATURDAY which is our ONLY day off?????

Hope you went back to sleep...
