I agree about Children of Men.

Adding The Prestige to the list.

We just saw The Prestige. Great movie but don't want to comment and spoil it for anyone. Wehad Open Range at home too with Robert Duvall but it was not good and sent it back without even watching the whole thing. I really like having the movies shipped to the house, especially when I have my surgery!

Hi Beth, my friend just recommended "The Prestige". I saw a wonderful (old - 1940) movie at the library's film series this week, "My Favorite Wife" with Cary Grant and Irene Dunne. It was hysterical.

I loved "The Queen", but didn't like "Munich", "Marie Antoinette" or "The Departed."

I went to see The Shooter yesterday with some coworker friends. Very bloody and gory but all in all a good action pack thriller. And of course, Mark Wahlberg is simply gorgeous and makes the price of the movie worth it even if you aren't into blood and guts action movies.

Loved the Illusionist and Pan's Labyrinth. Lots of Good vs. Evil with Good prevailing. That is my kind of movie right now.

I finally saw "Pursuit of Happyness" this past weekend. Great movie! Makes you thankful you have a job and how you can't let things in life get you down.

    Hugs and prayers,
    Candie

Going through out netflix history -

District B13 - amazing French movie starring and written by and directed by people who have never had these roles in making movies before (If I remember correctly) The main people in it are stuntmen and it's filled with - ach! I can't remember the name - a "sport" where people go the most direct route from point A to point B in a city including climbing, jumping, leaping through windows - and a good story too.
1 Giant Leap - I'm now addicted to the CD - great music
Dark City - memory, sci fi and William Hurt
A History of Violence - intense, disturbing, excellent. Any of Cronenberg's stuff is always good for, well, intesne, disturbing and excellent
Woman on Top - very fun movie set in Bahia, Brazil and San Francisco.
Midnight 2000 Seen By... - very intense movie set in Rio de Janeiro - nothing at all like Netflix's description.
Camille - Greta Garbo dies beautifully
Oldboy - Whoa! just saw this week - i described it the next day as directed by the Korean Quentin Tarantino
    Jails, Hospitals and Hip Hop

Netflix brought Casino Royale and we watched it last Saturday. Maybe it was because it was the day after I came home from the hospital or it was really just a bad movie.

On the other hand, we took the boys to see Spderman 3 the day before I went in the hospital. Loved every spidey minute of it!

OK, we got our latest shipment from Netflix. 3 movies were for the kids and I watched "Shopgirl" and got depressed. 'nuff said!
So I am now watching "Shirley Valentine". If you have never seen it, it is a terrific chick flick and remnids us that we are here for a short time and need to make the most of what God has given us. At least, that is what I get out of it. So now I am teary again so it must be nap time. still getting over this second hospital visit and the ensuing "junk". (hey melissa and tami...i kept it clean...could have said worse, lol)

I watched "Because I Said So" during the holiday weekend. Stars Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore. No brainer movie (which I like sometimes--lol). Cute.

Saw Pirates too - good, but nearly as good as the first one, or even the second one. And for you Johnny Depp fans, it's left open for a fourth one.

I just loved Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom this time, but ok on the whole movie plot. Except for Keith Richards, was he beat up or what??

Just took ds to see the new Fantastic Four movie. I really liked it. I remembered the original comics and the cartoon series so it brings back good stuff. Also, it was so empty first show during the day! Yeah!

    Enchanted April. . .
A wonderful surprise. Two women living in winter rainy dreary London see an advertisement to rent a castle in Italy for the coming April.
They do it. Also inviting two other women to join them.
All strangers in the beginning. A wonderful feel good movie for any afternoon.
    Actors are: Josie Lawrence,Miranda Richardson,Alfred Molina,Neville Phillips,Jim Broadbent,Michael Kitchen,Joan Plowright. The scenery is breathtaking.

I went to see the new Pirates of the Carribean movie last weekend with some friends from work. I still love Captain Jack. I thought the movie was pretty good. I didn't care much for Pirates II but I really liked this one almost as much as the first Pirate movie.

we rented Flags of our Fathers and it was really good, but sad and realistic. I remember all the movies of the 50's and 60's that showed war in such a gung ho light. Thank goodness, that is no longer true.
Tonight we watched Letters from Iwo Jima. Well done. I still have a problem with Japan trying to rewrite history to clean up the atrotricities committed by their forces during WWII.
Rented Pan's Labrinth (sp) and enjoyed it but it is NOT for kids at all! Pretty scary. Would have really enjoyed on the big screen with all the special effects.
