For those starting chemo in June

Mary, those girls with strollers cheat in those race/walks because they get to lean on them for support and get pulled forward by them on the downhill portions. When we get to Helena this weekend for the Komen walk there will be lots of that downhill cheating--but we do catch up with and pass them on the uphill parts!! I just got my confirmation for the Komen--yay. The power went off here at the ranch last night at 10:35 and didn't come back on until 8:30 tonight. That's 22 hours of NO power and NO sump pumps so my basement is UNDERWATER because in the awful wind and rain storm last night we got another 3 inches. There was a tornado near here and when I got to the daycare this morning there was a camper topper lying in the backyard just like someone had parked it there. Trees all over in town were uprooted and lying in the streets. Live power lines were down all over town and there was no power at the daycare for the first 2 hours. We made cold cereal and sent all babies back home until we had electricity. It was an interesting day. Tonight I drove back up to Glendive for a Relay For Life meeting. It's starting to cloud up again for the nightly downpour so I'm gonna quit and make sure I've got my flashlights all prepared just in case it gets black on me again. Nite all & Life is Good, but somewhat soggy Smiles NancyLee I forgot to add that I'm PSYCHED because we are on page 101--I live on the 101 road--Life is funny as well as good!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow N.L. you get some over the top weather. We are getting the storms and rain here today. Between the storms and snow I hope you get some sunshine and warmth. I will admit the country is beautiful up there. I saw some great lakes that would be great for a summer house. I will never know what a summer house is all about but if I could....We went to the Dr. in Springfield today(check up for plastic Dr.) We ate at Hardees and some school kids were eating there about 12 years old and a boy showed his 2 friends a card for a free pudding and the boy said he donated $1.00 for Breast Cancer and they gave him a free pudding card. He said he didn't know he would get pudding he just wanted to help. I thought how nice for a boy that age to want to help. I wanted to hug him. Gotta get. I have a lot to do for the craft fair Sat. then I have my son's kids Sat. to Wed. or Thurs. He is getting his surgery done over again in Chicago so they have to go there for 4 days so I will have the kids. They are Peyton(girl)7 and Kaden (boy)5. Then there is hubby (boy)56, acts like 5 or 6. Well I hope Janie and P.J. are getting along good. Later, Mary

What am I doing up at this hour??? Actually, I just cleaned off my dining room table. I started out by looking for my planner which I lost somewhere in the unpacking after the Billings trip. So I cleaned off the table and then decided to change the placemats and got so involved that the time just got away on me. I'm watching or rather listening to the CMA awards show. It's pretty good. Oh, and I found the planner. Good thing too because I have a meeting tomorrow at 3 that I completely spaced out on. I really do need to write everything down or it just flies out of my little chemobrain. Sometimes I can laugh at it and others it gets me in real trouble. Have fun with the kids, Mary. My nephew is Payden and a boy and we have had 3 boys at the daycare named Kadyn and Kadan and Cadon. Ya gotta love the way people spell their kids names--we have 2 little girls right now named Cheyanne and Shyan--pronounced the same and we have Tate and Teight. I gotta go to bed--I'm actually tired and may sleep without help. Nite all--Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

N.L. I hate when I set out to do one thing and get so much done trying to do it. I can't stop, and I am amazed at all the things I find I lost. I have to try another MRI tomorrow eve since the first one didn't take good. I hope we find out whats causing all my shoulder pain and get it fixed. I see where they are changing the boards. That will screw me up for sure. I will get lost for a while. Better get and cook some dinner. Mary
-
Yah, I saw the note too about changing the boards. I'll probably not be on after that if they change it too much because I have a really old computer and it doesn't adapt well to change. I hope they find out what's causing your shoulder to hurt too--pain isn't nice. Wear your earplugs--those MRI's are noisy!!! Guess what I did at mine last week?? I took a book and read when they had me stuffed all the way to the back. Next time I'm going to take a smaller book cuz I had to turn the pages on this one with my nose!! I'm near-sighted--can you tell? Isn't it fun to find things you lost?? I hope some day to find my mind--It's out there somewhere wandering around!!!!! I'm sure of it. Life is Good Smiles NancyLee
-
N.L. it has company because mine is out there too, and scared to come back. Mary
-
Hi--Mary, I love that my little mind has company. I like to think that it's not alone in its wanderings! I'm at my brother's house in Plentywood. In a bit my SIL and I are going to take off for Helena to be in the Komen race tomorrow. I'm excited. Beautiful day in Eastern Montana. Hope you all have a wonderful Friday. Life is Great Smiles NancyLee
-
Good Luck at the race tomorrow N.L. Have a great wk. end all you little Junies. Mary
-
Hi All,
Back from a 4 day conference with a bunch of shrinks. NL hope your race goes well. Mary, feel better girl. Enough of these aches and pains already. My elementary school raised a bunch for relay for life and so did my high school. Seems like lots of people are out there working to beat the beast. Well, I did not get to sleep in this weekend due to the conference so 5:30 will come very early tomorrow. Gotta turn in. Later Ladies, Jf -
Hey, glad your back Janie. Hope you had a good trip. I have to hurry but I am so mad I have to vent. This is the 3rd., THIRD time I fell in the toilet because some nut can't replace the seat the way he found it, DOWN! I hate that at 3 in the morning you fall in and your butt is all wet. It just wakes me right up so lastnight I thought I would wake him up to enjoy in my wet a#* delima but Oh No! I forgot he doesn't sleep much and was chuckling while I was waking the whole neighborhood. He said "check it before you sit", that #@**$#&, I don't know what that says but it isn't nice. Oh golly, he is in for a rough road today. It won't be pretty. Wet butt Mary

Hi, girls,
Sorry to be gone so long, but my home computer is fried and work has been crazy. Mom has had the worst of the worst of plumbing problems for the last few days. Supposedly, it'll get fixed today. Poor thing. She's really regretting moving down here, I think. I've been spending LOTS of time with her.
Mary, shoulder any better? That jarring of falling into the toilet can't help any.
Hey to NL and Janie. Janie, sounds like you've been working too damn hard. And Nancy always sounds like she's working too hard. Thinking about working hard makes me think I'd better go to the vending machine and get some chocolate.... See ya later, girls.
PJ -
Hey P.J. glad your back too. N.L. and I have kept the fires burning. I got a copy of my MRI and it says tendinosis(tendinitis thats gone on too long,) bursitis, rotator tears, osteoarthrosis of the AC joint(top of shoulder)and last but not least a tear in the long head bicep. I assume some of this is from lifting in the nursing field over the years and now it is all thin and tears easily. My Dr. has not called yet, imagine that....I am taking a copy to my new Dr. tomorrow. I know a steroid shot in the joint is a must and I can't wait to get the pain down. I know an Ortho visit will be in the near future too. Gosh, I am falling appart. I have an apt. with the endrocrinologist in Aug. as I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and I have been on meds. for years so they may have to do something about thyroid. I hope to get all well soon. The shoulder pain is pretty bad and I took motrin and I started itching so I don't know if I should take any more. I will see what Dr. says. Well thats my little problem. I sure hope your Mom gets all straightened out P.J. I bet she will be really happy there when things get all fixed. I better go. Later girls, Mary
-
Mary, Mary, Mary, You are one bundle of aches and pains. I know you will be happy to get that marvelous shot of cortizone or whichever. I love em. I used to get them sometimes in the shoulder and they would say it was going to hurt and I have heard about ball players complaining about the pain, but I always liked the relief and didn't really thing the shot hurt that much. I bet Taxol has a lot to do with your problems too. Imagine what our bones and joints look like, based on our nails and teeth. Hope you get everything in good working order soon.
Hey PJ, Good to hear from you again. Hey NL.
I picked up my night sleeve and easy glide today. The night sleeve is much easier to get on that I thought it would be. Looks like a huge oven mitt. -
Hey, girls,
Janie, I'm going to the lymphedema treatment folks in a couple of weeks. My onc said he'd rather they show me how to wrap and just let me do it at night, given the heat of summer. So, we'll see. I'd rather sleeve than wrap, for sure.
Mary, got your drugs yet? Nancy, how's life out West?
Paula -
Hey Girls, I go to new Dr. tomorrow and see what they are going to do about the shoulder. Now the right one is starting. I will be so glad to get rid of the muscle spasms in my neck, shoulders, chest and back. They are painful. Hubby is so glad to be out of the truck. We have been looking at campers but haven't found one yet. I think about Aug. they will start selling them cheap because of winter so we will buy around then. Oh! did I tell yas I made $150.00 on my jewelry(after entry fee) at the craft fair? I was excited because there weren't but about 20 venders and 4 of us were hand made jewelry. Hubby even sold some wood things. There wasn't many people so I didn't think we would do much plus it was windy and cool. We are going to do a 3 day one in June. We may just set up 2 days but it will fun. The face painting was next to us so that helped!!!!! Better go. How was the B.C.run N.L.? Get out the muscle rub. Later, Mary
-
Well, that was fun, NOT!! I just cleaned all the green moldy stuff out of my fridge. I think most of it used to be vegetables, but some I couldn't identify!! I forgot to toss stuff before I left for the race. Wow!! THAT on the other hand was total fun. I loved it+++++++ and am adding it to my list of "things to do every year". I met a 50+ year survivor--she was over 85 and just a sweetie. She was quite spry too!! I hope to be bopping along like that in my 80's!!! On Saturday afternoon we shopped and then on Saturday evening we went to the community theatre production of "Fiddler on the Roof". It was surprisingly good. I stayed with a former Bakerite who was playing one of the Mama's in the play. She's a great singer. Then on Sunday we shopped and went to garage sales and shopped and ate and shopped. Then we drove back to Plentywood on Monday and stopped in Great Falls to shop some more because they have a massive mall. We got to PW late on Monday and I went and visited my Mom yesterday morning before driving back to Baker. She's doing well and was in a rather funny/good mood while I was there. I stayed about 2 hours and really enjoyed the visit. I didn't get back to Baker until 7 so the daycare was closed--oh darn, missed 2 whole days of work Today I had my last day of the 4 year old preschool and gave them tests and report cards and books and hugs and now I'll do the same thing with the 3 year olds tomorrow and I'll be done teaching for the year. AAAAHHHHHH--as much as I like it, it'll be nice to get a break. Well, I'm gonna pop some kettle corn and have popcorn and yogurt for supper--Yum!! It's nice to be home Life is Good Smiles NancyLee
-
PJ, Do you wear a sleeve during the day? They told me not to leave it off long enough for a cup of coffee. However, the OT today said to leave it off for 45 minutes until the lotion dried to keep it from absorbing....so I dk
Mary, you go girl.. what jewelry pieces to you make? earring? bracelets? necklaces?
Nancylee, yes it will be good to get a break. I have a pretty good job actually, but it is demanding and stressful with all the state and federal deadlines and always be overwhelmed.
Behave yourselves....well, if you want to..... have fun either way -
So I haven't had much sleep lately or "good sleeps" as my nephew used to say because I didn't take my AmbienCR with me on the trek and last night I took one and then was messing around getting ready for bed and I don't even remember putting on my jammies or anything, but I woke up this morning when the radio came on and I was actually in my bed and I had on pjs and my glasses were on the holder by the bed and my hand was in the crease of a book so I must have just gone into a coma and not moved at all. I've felt really good all day because I had such a nice long full night of sleep, but that's kinda scary. They were getting to where it took me a long time to fall asleep, but they are nice because I don't wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to fall back to sleep. But still---HMMMMM!! I've read where people take this pill and get up and eat full meals without remembering it. That's not the case with me because I didn't find any crumbs in the book!!!!! School's out and we had a gazillion kids at 1:30 today because they got out early. Thankfully this was the first day in a long time that it didn't rain and the sun was shining. The only thing is that now there are tons of gnats and mosquitoes out there due to the dampness. Yuck--I hate bugs--especially ones who can give you West Nile Virus. Mary--I'm a ring and bracelet junkie so you could probably do a great business if I were anywhere near your table. I just got a RoadID bracelet so that if I get smucked by a truck or something when I'm out walking, they can scrape me up off the road and find out who I am. I put my own telephone number on there and 911 because I think it's stupid when people put relatives' numbers on things "in case of emergency". I don't want someone calling my sister if I get hurt--what's she gonna do?--I want them to call 911!!! Well, how did I get off onto that rant? Best go and get ready for bed in the right order tonight. Nite all Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Hey Girls, Well I am waiting on an apt. with an Ortho to get a shot for bursitis, UHHH Now would be good. I would attemp to do it myself. Oh well, I am pretty use to the intense pain. Doc said I need a new shoulder. Wow, wasn't expecting that. I told her we can wait a little while because thats a lot of down time and well I just don't want to be down now. She said we could wait. I just have to be careful and use pain meds. I said no more motrin, I am still having stomach trouble from that crap. Now that my right shoulder is hurting I guess that one wants a new joint too. I still think my neck is messed up and I want an MRI of that but forgot to ask, I was so surprised about the shoulder being so screwed up. She said weight lifters get this and I did work out with weights years ago but not that much so she said the treatments probably helped. I did a lot of lifting in the hospitals and nursing homes and home care. Oh well. I just want my steroid shot NOW! That will help a lot(I hope). N.L. I make bracelets, chokers and earings. I also make kids bracelets and necklaces and Mommie and Me bracelets(matching bracelets for mom and daughter). I love jewelry.(Hungarian Gypsy in me. My relatives were wanders in early years but owned an inn and bar/restaurant later and were from Hungry)Hence the like to travel and wear lots of jewelry. Why do men think it is funny to pass gas in a small computer room silently and leave? Thats just stupid and I have to go yell at someone. Later Mary

OOOOH Mary, nothing "hurts so good" as those shots--I have them every once in awhile at the outside base of my thumb for D'Quervain's Syndrome, whatever that is. All I know is that it hurts like heck and then I get this shot that he keeps apologizing about the pain and I don't think it hurts as much as the wrist did and then AAAAAHH Relief so I hope it works as well for you. I've had them in my elbow for Tennis Elbow when I made too many buttons for the sports team with my little button maker. That worked too, but hurt at the time and then another time I opened the shed door with my back pushing against it and messed it up really badly and ended up having a cortizone shot in the Back and that was not fun, but also worked like a miracle. So I'm all for that stuff. I think maybe it was invented for people like me and you who don't necessarily learn from their past silly actions?? Maybe I should just speak for myself, but why were you lifting weights?? EEEWWWW that sounds too much like serious exercising for me. Guess what I got today?? A little pink sparkling toe ring. I have it on right now. We shall see if it remains on my toe, but I just got it on a whim while I was waiting for the lady to replace the battery in my favorite watch. I have like a dozen watches and I only wear a couple of them. I also have clocks all over the house--the Westminster chime anniversary clock is my favorite and the angel chime clock runs a close second--tick tock!! It's raining again so I'm preparing for the inside flood. It's also so cold that my baseboard heaters which are turned down to 45 came on while I was at work today. It's nice and toasty in my living room for a change. Gotta go feed my wet dog and see why the cat won't shut up. Nite all Life is Good Smiles NancyLee
-
N.L. I will never learn. I had a gold toe ring I had worn for like 12 years and I took it off to have surgery and it got lost. I am looking for another, I love them. Mine stayed on all through the years. I like watches too and I can't see the time but I wear them. I have a kids watch(plastic) with a greenish dial that is big and I can see what time it is on that so I wear it for everyday usually. I have my cell but I have to put my specks on to see that too. When I forget my reading glasses and I am out somewhere I just call a kid and ask what time it is. Those cell phones come in handy like that. I have to take grandkids home so I will be back later. I hope it warms up there N.L. it cooled off here today and rained all night. It isn't cold but maybe in the 60's. Hi to P.J. and Janie. Have a great wk.end girls, Mary
-
Hey girls,
I like toe rings but my toes are too ugly especially after chemo to bring attention to them. My left thumb nail STILL pulls away from the nail bed about 3/4's of the way down. MB I should have waited a while longer to start getting them done professionally. That may be helping keep it from taking root or whatever, but it is so ugly without the fill in. I am thinking of going to a dermatologist about the nails and the hair. I mean IT HAS BEEN OVER 3 FREAKIN YEARS ALREADY! Shouldn't everything be back to normal by now? My hair is still very thin and my nails are improved but still not back to normal.
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend and Stay Safe!
Janie -
Mary, I hope you get some relief soon!
-
Janie, I have to get my hair thinned out about every 3 months because I always had thin hair and now it is soo thick it sticks out all over and is soo dry I look like a afgan hound that just spent days lost in the woods. Its not a pretty sight....My toenails hardly grow now. I have always liked my toes, I don't much pay attention to toes and if they are painted they look good anyway. I think we pay more attention to ourselves than others do. I mean we think something isn't good and others think it is. Oh I asked about a senior discount today when we ate, I asked what the age was and the girl said she would give it to us and didn't ask our age. I was asking for hubby and felt a little sad I got it but it was $3.00 off so that helped me feel better. I need to think about botox and restlyn. No I need a good face lift but thats not gonna happen! Thats just kinda scary to me. I saw one done one time and theres no freeking way they are lifting my skin off my face in places. Thats just gotta hurt! I will just wear wrinkled clothes so my skin doesn't look so bad. Later, Mary
-
Mary, Maybe we could try that New Image thingee or whatever it is called. You can go in on your lunch hour and come out lookin' good!!! I heard it was on Oprah. I think it has to do with lasers or something. Well, I had better go put my sleeve on. My eyes are drooping. Later, Janie
-
Mary, I'm thinking that you truly missed your calling and maybe you should be standing on a stage at a comedy club somewhere--the bit about the afghan lost in the woods and wearing wrinkled clothes to draw attention from your skin would have them in stitches like it does me OR maybe you're the reincarnation of Erma Bombeck and you should be writing books??? I just came from the machine shop--I was out there with my renter looking over all the stuff--I'm having an auction here at the ranch to sell my machinery and pickups and a bunch of other stuff. It's set for the 13th of June, a few days after I get back from Oregon. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it all at the same time. I've been sitting around the house all day watching movies on DVD. I saw "Pursuit of Happyness" (and yes they spelled happiness wrong in the title on purpose) and that was pretty good and I also watched "Dreamgirls" and I liked that too. Now I have on a Russell Crowe movie called "A Good Year" and I'm not so impressed at least so far. I think I'll turn it off and watch Poker. That's how I usually go to sleep on Saturdays!! What an exciting day--I'm not sure my heart can stand it!! Mary, we ordered off the senior menu at Perkins when I was in Billings for the Womens' Run--I loved it--finally old enough to get food cheaper--heh, heh Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Good morning girls, I am having my coffee and waking up with my favorite people, you guys. It has rained here all day yesterday and now today off and on. Yesterday we had some good storms. Hubby and I drove out by one of the lakes and saw all the people camping and scrambling for cover as it blew up a heavy downpour. It was hot so the rain made it feel like a pressure cooker. The humidity is awful. You are soaked just walking outside. It gets hard to breath sometimes from the humid air. Janie, I have a friend thats getting laser treatments and I checked them out but I wanted to wait to see how hers turned out. You get 6 of them one every 6 wks. They also inject collagen at the same time. She is looking good. Her pores are really shrunk and her skin looks very smooth. I had checked it out but didn't want to waste $2500.00. I am thinking about it because I have really large pores but just hate to spend that much and my alligator skin not work. I got a peal from a spa that cast $75.00 and all it did was make my ezema flare up so no more of that. I looked like I had been in a fire. I would like to check out the feather lift but my friend said the threads can fall and it looks bad until you get it fixed, oh well, I will just look old forever. Hubby always says I look good, he is a man, he is gonna say that, he likes to eat and wear clean clothes. Better go get some more coffee. Have some fun this wk. end. Mary
-
By the way, I don't much consider hubby's taste reason to feel beautiful because this is a man that can put on brown stripes and green plaid and think he looks good, I just leave him go. I don't care anymore if he looks dorky. The thing is; when we go somewhere and he looks as dorky as the other married men; they all think they are "hot studs" all dressed up to their own standards. Gosh, what wisdom they could teach. Mary

Okay, so the nursing home just called me and I have to go to Plentywood tomorrow because I hold my mom's medical POA and I have to give permission for them to do a core biopsy of a cyst that she has. I was told last week when I was up there that they had done a biopsy on the fluid that they removed from it and it was "just a cyst", but I guess they decided that they'd better investigate further. I have to give them a medical history for her, at least the parts I know, and then they will do the procedure over at the hospital on Tuesday. I have already got someone to open the daycare for me and someone else to come in 2nd for her. They said that I should expect to be able to come back home on Tuesday evening if everything goes okay. This is more than a little upsetting. I think they're leaving it to me to tell Mom that she has to have this done. That should be interesting to say the very least. Well, gotta get some daycare stuff done and get packed so I can leave tomorrow morning fairly early. Guess I'll be back on here late Tuesday or on Wednesday--Bye Life is Puzzling Smiles NancyLee
