Benefits of "rebounding" (And it is actually fun!)

Options
Here is a link to an article about the benefits of rebounders, which are mini trampolines. It appears it stimulates the lymphatic system and increases the flow about 15 to 20 times. The article explains more. Picked mine up from Sports Authority. Its kind of fun! I feel like a little kid jumping on a bed.

I read, back in the '70's, a Dr. discovered that rebounding helped emphysema patients. I didn't read the entire article, but it supposedly helps in some way.

Yep, I thought it was great but physical therapy got so
horrified at the thought of me on a rebounder that mine has been sitting in my shed for the past 2 years.

Heck, I thought It would be great for my balance (which is non existent). Needless to say it gave them all the shudders.

I even bought all the tapes!

Did you read the statistics about a bra and breast cancer on this site?

My doctor mentioned the connection to me too and gave me some info on it at one point.

What is this about bras and breast cancer? Is this something new? Can you point me in the right direction? I remember years ago there was something about bras but it was discounted. What is this about?

I thought it had something to do with underwire bras. I wore underwire bras. But I don't think it gave me bc.

When I was going to the gym they had a rebounder. It was fun. You can do lots of different leg movements on it while you hold on to a stabilizing bar. It's a pretty good workout in a short period of time. I didn't realize it was getting the lymph fluid to move around which should be a good thing.

It supposedly has something to do with the lymphatic system. A bra can restrict the flow. This is one article that explains it:

I normally have very tender somewhat swollen painful breasts before my period. And I tend to wear a bra to bed. This month, I decided to go braless as often as possible. And this is the first time I don't have painful breasts just before. Go figure. Maybe there is something to it. The way I look at it, there is no harm in trying.

I don't think wearing a bra can cause cancer but maybe if you wear it too tight it will block the lymphatic system enough to cause some problems.

Once I got fitted for a bra and thought I was going to faint she had it so tight on me. She said that is how your supposed to wear it. Well..no thanks..I'll take my looser bra anyday.

I used to teach an aerobics circuit class using a mini-tramp/rebounder. If you do use one, make sure to wear solid shoes that have extra stability. It is actually very good for balance (as someone mentioned) which is crucial as we age and an often-overlooked aspect of fitness.

As for the bras, that is a myth:

"Scientific evidence does not support a link between wearing an underwire bra (or any type of bra) and breast cancer risk [473]. There is no biological reason the two would be linked. Any observed relationship is likely due to other factors." http://ww5.komen.org/BreastCancer/FactorsThatDoNot...
