Resizing fiberfill inserts

Options
After my bilateral mastectomy last week, I was given one of the camisoles with the fiberfill inserts. The inserts are way to large.

I’ve removed about half of the fiberfill, but that made the cover way too large. I tried pulling the excess material to the back and pinning it, but that doesn’t look right.

Have any of you had this problem and if so, how have you solved it?

Also, the inserts are oval. Are they attached with the long side vertical or horizontal?

Thanks

The fiberfill forms never looked really natural on me. I found the best thing was to play around with them. Take out some fiber, try them different ways in the cami. Sounds as if you've done that. I wound up removing about two thirds of the fiber in mine. While I was healing and couldn't wear anything else, I wore them under loose-fitting blouses or in tee shirts or blouses with a little vest over, so you couldn't really tell. I don't think there's a perfect solution, though some seem to do better with the puffies than others.

Some days I spend a lot of time sculpting my puff so that it resembles my remaining breast. This involves smushing the puff a lot. I wear the long side horizontal. My puffs are all loose, also from removing about 1/2 the filling -- I just push the filling to the bottom, leaving the cover in its original shape. Am. Cancer Society gave me a couple varieties. My mom tells me most people don't look at my chest. I don't really buy that, but lately I just kinda feel -- who cares? Yeah, I have cancer. Good luck -- just play with the puffs and you'll get used to what works. -- kim b.

Hi, I haven't had the too big problem but try doing like the others have said and fiddle around, you might find something acceptable til you can get fitted.
I'm about 5 weeks out from my bilateral. Had some complications and still have swelling so it will be awhile before I can get fitted. So I bought an inexpensive pocketed sports bra from TLC and put my puffies in there that I got w/my cami for the first time yesterday and I was like a girl who had just grown boobs! lol
Couldn't wait to go out and show hubby while he was mowing the lawn.
My problem is that they, to me anyway, sit too high. Well that lead to a funny discussion w/hubby, I'm 60 now and he said maybe that's the way they were when you were young.
Oh my gosh, well a little humor helps in all this madness.
Best of luck to you, you'll eventually find your way, I figure it just takes time and a little experimenting.
Actaully I have enjoyed going around the house w/o a bra, nice change.

    Hugs, Pam
