CEA

Options
Right now my carcinoembryonic antigen levels have stayed a bit elevated for the past few months(3 then 2.7 then 2.9) I am hoping to hear some stories of other people who had high CEA levels that turned out to be nothing. I know that they just changed the test - so that it has a different normal range.
Are others getting there CEA tested? Thanks, Julia

The CEA goes up and down for many reasons, not just cancer. Are you having any other tumor markers done? My onc does a CA15-3 and CEA every 3 months.

    Dear Julia,

your CEA levels is on the normal range. As i know here in Greece the normal range is <5 and <10 for smokers. my Mother's CEA was 404 on November 2005 and this week 1,4! Have you other tumor markers done like CA125, CA15-3 or the new CA27.29?

Hi Julia, My CEA is at 14.8. I got diagonised with DCIS and LCIS 3 years ago and had a Mastectomy, at that time my Cea was up at 18. After my operation it went down to 5 and has been gradually going up ever since but has stabalized at around the 15 mark for the last 6 months. I am having my blood tests every 3 to 6 months now. I am just getting on with life but also keeping and eye on my markers. There is a lowing lying fear of cancer but with the CEA they can not say where or if. But also with out that marker I would not have known that i was traveling the road of breast Cancer, it was for a totally other reason the doctor did the Cea on me.
