How are you doing??? Mr. Draino and I are still hanging together, but it was 35CC this morning!! Will see what gives Sat and Sunday and call them Monday. I am sure praying yours is dropping! AND that you are getting answers. Facing scheduling appointment with the onco. Another hurdle to dread and overcome.

Lemme hear from ya.

Becky, I am STILL hanging in there some how? I am scheduled to see my surgeon this coming Monday morning so he can take a look at "Mr. Drain". I THINK I MIGHT get it out Monday from the looks of things. So far in 24 hours I at at 28 cc's. Its really slowed down to a crawl. I should be NO more then "30 some" cc's by bedtime. That will be the FIRST time I've ever been this close. So I am dreaming of being FREE from this plastic monster I've been carrying around. The FIRST thing I will do when I get this OUT is run home and take a REAL SHOWER. I CAN'T wait!

It sounds like you are about at the SAME place I am with your drainage. So maybe we will BOTH get ours out this week. Wouldn't that be nice! I caught your OTHER post that we orignally were talking on. When you said your friend I am a DUNCE and thought you meant someone else. LOL When you said you meant me I read it again then It was quite obvious WHO you were talking about. I still have left over chemo brain at times. That's my story and I am sticking to it. hahaha

So you have not met with your onc yet? When you said another hurdle to dread and over come...unfortunetly you have that so right. But the GOOD NEWS is you will get through all this as hard as it sounds at the moment. I can promise you that. There IS light at the end of the tunnel so to speak.

Two more days...the RACE is on...which one of us will get to 30cc's or less BEFORE Monday. LOL (Actually...to be honest...I HOPE its BOTH of us.) :-) Let me know how its going. Thanks for checking in on me.

At this rate I am pretty darned sure mine will be pulled for sure on Monday. I can't wait. I sure hope yours drops at least 10 or more BY Monday so you can get yours out too. Hang in there...your almost there.

BeckGal, I am off to bed as I have my EARLY morning appt to have my drain PULLED. (Positive thinking!) It better be pulled or I WILL INSTALL ONE IN MY SURGEON and see how he likes it. LOL I was 27 last night and tonight I am at 19 cc's. So FINALLY.

Don't get to discouraged about it going back up. Mine did that a few times. Sometimes all of a sudden it would go up one day and then back to normal. Not long ago mine went up to 108 out of the blue. YIKES. I think I just did way to much that day or something? But don't worry..I bet it goes back to normal tomorrow. I bet yours WILL be out before the end of this week.

As far as holding a record...this is one I RATHER NOT have...I think I will pass it off to someone else. Isn't that big of me.

I was back down to 40 this morning, but, Chelee, I would rather NOT take on the World Champion Drain Chick Title. You earned it girlfriend. Let me know how life AD (after draintubes) is!!! Somehow mine is but a foggy memory. Sigh.

BeckGal, Its offical, I did get my drain pulled today. (Monday) Its GONE. I feel like a NEW person. It was a total of sixty one days as of today. Far too long. I know I sure won't miss it. Its such a relief. Here's hoping yours comes out any day now.

BeckGal, Wow...way to go! 29 sounds like a GOOD number to me. I think you've got it made now girl. It also lets me know you aren't going to come close to winning the TITLE of "Drain Queen".

Have you called your surgeon to get an appt to get yours pulled now that you are UNDER 30 cc's? If it stays under 30...which is should...you will be FREE from that little drain devil. Let me know how it goes.

A bit of trivia. When I went this last time to get my drain pulled my surgeon brought in another young doctor in training. So he was talking out loud to this person.

I couldn't help notice him tell this other doctor "Gee..I just LOVE these *Blake* drains". All this time I THOUGHT mine was a JP drain. Thats what everyone called it. So tonight I did some research on the Blake drain verses the JP drain. I read a couple pages that said they did studies of the JP drain and found that the JP had superior suction throughout the entire length of the drain which allowed it to suction *10 times more fluid* then the competitive Blake drain.

That makes me wonder if this BLAKE drain isn't cheaper to use and the reason WHY It took SO LONG to get that drain pulled. I mean SIXTY ONE days is a LONG time to drain for a simple mastectomy. It even said the Blake drains clot more then the JP drains. If this is true...that makes me a bit angry to think my surgeon would use something that made me misrable for a EXTRA month unnecessarily.

I remember one women here posted a picture online of her drain. We were teasing her how FANCY hers looked. It said right on top of the drain "JP" drain. I think some of us that are taking longer might be due to the type of drain used? My drain looked NOTHING like hers. My surgeon heard me refer to my drain as a JP drain 100 times! And NOT once did he say it was a BLAKE. I can't help it...this makes me wonder if that isn't the reason it took so darned long. (Again...trivia...but I would be curious if any of you know for SURE which type you have...a JP or a BLAKE drain?)

BeckGal, NOW they are telling you it has to be under 20 cc's verses 30? Wow...your surgeon plays it safe. Actually its probably a good idea. Because ending up with a "Seroma" is a pain...I know because I'd had one the entire year. (If by chance you DO find out which kind of drain you have...I would seriously be interested?)

I SO FEEL FOR YOU. Another FIVE days...that seems like a life time with one of those plastic devils. Hang in there.

BeckGal, Because I am such a nice person I will tell you what I am going to do. I am MORE THEN WILLING to give you the TITLE to "DRAIN QUEEN". It would be a real honor to hand it over to you LOL (Frankly I don't want it.) hahaha

I think I am running into problems already. Since my drain was pulled it got REALLY RED and hot to touch the very next day and I am still on antibiotics. So I stopped by my surgeons office and another doctor took a look at it and wrote me a script for "Cipro". I was on keflex. But its been a couple days and it actually looks WORSE today. Its getting redder, hotter and it kind of hurts. I am not sure whats going on in there. I hope I don't have an infection from having that in so darned long. Ugh...its always something. I hope you get yours out for sure this week...I don't want you having any problems like I am.

Sending you positive thoughts that your drain runs dry.

Chelee, I am so sorry you are having MORE problems. I am now drain free, as of yesterday! So I went 32 days. So far things look good. Just achy...one was pretty hard to pull out. Never felt the other one come out. Nothing on the gauze dressing. I was down to 20 ccs for the past 5 days. Don't want drain queen title thanks anyway. All in all it has been a DRAINING experience for us both eh?

Cyber hugs to you, and sending up prayers that all infection, etc goes away NOW.

BeckGal, I am so glad to hear you got your drains out. YEAH. You must feel like a NEW person. I'm sorry to hear one didn't want to come out as easy as the other. OUCH. Sounds like your well on your way to be back to normal.

I am VERY un-comfortable...I can tell my left side I just had the drain pulled out of is filling up with fluid on top of that infection. But I have been on antibiotics and at least the redness is under control. But its getting all puffy...fluid city in there already. I just can't win.

I HAD to laugh at your comment about this being a "draining experience". LOL Too funny. Yet so true! Good luck to you...I pray things continue to go well for you. Hang in there.

Hi BeckGal, Nope...I still continue to have swelling/fliud building up in there since the drain was removed. I don't understand this. I am just misrable. Now BOTH sides of my chest need drained. I have an appt. this coming Wednesday for my surgeon to take a look at it.

I am sure GLAD to hear you are out and about going tubeless. Yeah! That must be a NICE feeling. Way to go girl. You had your drains in far long enough...so you deserve to get back to feeling half way normal again. Have some fun.
