AA Sports Bra recommendations

Hello,

I just had a bilateral mastectomy 2 weeks ago. Recovery has been totally a miracle! PTL.

I'm looking for suggestions on Sports Bras that can be worn without prosthesis. So, like a 34 AAA or something.

By recommendations of this list, I purchased a Softee Camisole to wear home from the hospital - I love it.

But, I'm now looking for something to wear around the house. My seri-strips are not off yet (but are getting itchy). But my skin feels weird when I just wear a T-shirt (rubbing against my incision). I think I would feel more secure with a sports bra. Can I wear one now? 2 weeks out of surgery?

When I look for Sports Bras, they seem to come in Small, Medium sizes or with bigger cup sizes. I need a 34 AA or AAA.

I'll look for a prosthesis in a few more weeks.

Also, once the seri-strips are off, is there anything I want to put on the scar? Or is it too soon?

Thanks for any help or ideas.

DTT I went to Walmart (I also am a AAAAAA and they had a nice front closing sports bra..loved it so much when my mom had heart surg I got her two...then she went back and got more...

I use Vit E or any lotion, its the massaging that helps with the scars...

    hugs and good luck...MB

Sometimes you have to look at Walmart several times. The small sizes seem to go fast.

Thanks for the tip. We have a Wal-Mart close by, maybe I can getup there soon. What brand or manufacturer did you like? This might help me narrow the search and time spent in that department. Thanks again!

    Hi DTTOGDT,

Gosh, that's an interesting handle. ;-)

So glad your recovery is going well!!!

I had a BMX about 2.5 years ago and the most comfy thing I found to wear so far was inexpensive. Not sure if Walmart carries them any more, but even though my band size is 34, in this particular cotton sports bra, I found the 38 was most comfortable but not too loose. If I want to wear foobs, I cut slits in the side and slide them in and use safety pins in the middle to keep from having a uni-boob. I can step into these.

This is another version of the same thing but maybe not likely able to step into this style. Neither style has any modesty pads but are lined in the front. When I made a slit for mine, the fabric held up fine in the wash since it cotton knit jersy.

    Hope this helps. Hogwarts

Hogwarts - your post will no doubt be helpful to people currently posting on BCO, but you are responding to a post from 11 years ago, and the OP has not been here for about 8 years - just didn't want you to be waiting for a response. I have now reconstructed but have been half flat at various intervals (long story, lol!) but have found that Coobie bras are very comfy and regularly have a discount code. They have lightly padded modesty panels in a pocket with dedicated sides, that can actually fit a lightweight prosthetic with the panel removed for times someone might want to wear them, or can be worn without either the panel or prosthetic. They come in a regular or full size - I found the full size with higher sides worked better if a prosthetic was used, or for a general feeling of more coverage.
