Hi, its been a while since I have posted here, but have been reading regularly.
My sisters history:
2001 Acoustic Neuroma
2005 BC, lumpectomy, chemo and radiation.
2007 Brain tumour (they say new primary)
The tumour can't be operated on. They have tried radiation, and I'm sitting here in Germany (she's in England) going mad waiting for a call from mum to let me know what the doctors have said.
My sister is 42 with two children (6 and 12).
I went home for a week at Easter and was shocked at my sisters appearance, she has needed to take steroids to get rid of the fluid around the tumour and they have left her very weak and bloated.
My sister is a fighter, she fought the BC and is fighting this too, but her doctors don't seem to be willing to, or aren't able to say whether this tumour can be beaten or not I'm finding it hard to stay strong this time..
Thanks for letting me rant, please send prayers her way

Boolie I am so sorry. I am thinking of you and your sister.
It is ok to be upset and "lose it". Feel your emotions and then get back in there and fight with your sister.
My heart is with you both and the kids.
Take care,
Sandy -
Thx for taking the time to respond.
Feeling better this evening although we had neither good or bad news today.
Another three weeks to wait until her next hospital appointment when future possible treatments will be discussed. The problem is that was what todays appointment was supposed to be for. Instead she saw a strange doctor who said they assume the rads had worked to some extent because she hasn't been having headaches... My sister didn't ask any questions and neither did her husband. Mum wishes she had been there and that the next appointment didn't coincide with BIL's day off work.
Prayers and healing thoughts to all the girls on these sanity saving boards. -
The thought of losing a loved one is often to scarry to take. I would cry often but not infront of my wife. If i had hope she had hope. Just be surportive and and keep her chin up

The three weeks until the next appointment are now going to be 6 to 8 weeks.... Apparently they are now going to test the breast tissue (from the lumpectomy 2005) for its hormone receptors, surely they should have done that in 2005?!
Is that normal for the British NHS? -
huggsss, boolie--no knowledge of British health care, but just wanted you to know that I am thinking about you and your sister!!!

hi boolie
so sorry to hear bout your sister and my thoughts are with you and your family. ive just had lumpectomy nov 06 and they tested my tumour and tissue after surgery so i would say that they should have done it there and then where abouts in uk is she ? -
@junie thx, I wish that these boards weren't needed by anyone, i'm glad that they are here though.
@smurf, she is in Norfolk, in 2005 they said it wasn't hormonal, maybe they are just re testing it. It is the waiting that is driving us all nuts, if they could decide on a course of treatment or not as the case could be, we could all start dealing with it, and know how to answer her children's questions.
I hope recovery goes smoothly for you (hugs) -
It seems her headaches are back, but she is telling everyone that they are normal and not like those in December, so no need to call the hospital for a faster appointment.
Praying that shes right and not in denial... -
boolie, if you haven't checked out the chat forums at breastcancercare.org.uk you might want to as it is a UK specific site.
My very best wishes to you and your sister.
