mostly i'm an international flight attendant and i love it.

the down sides are the irratic and sometimes demanding schedule, the upsides are the unbeatable travel priveliges and the 15 free days a month to do it! not to mention getting to see and keep up my friendships all over the world thanks to work. I am always thinking of doing my other things full time (writing, international education consulting), but it's just too good a deal to pass up! the longer you stay, the better it gets, so i'm always doing it for "just another few years..." haha!

I am a translator. I work in-house in an international organization in Washington DC. Before I was a translator too, but I was a freelancer. Being a freelancer had a lot of advantages such as deciding my working hours and schedule. This I cannot do any more with my 9-to-5.30 job, but now my evenings and weekends are always mine to spend as I choose. Plus, I have very good health insurance!

I don't know what I would do if I were not a translator, it is the only thing I can do :-) And I truly love it!

I work for a payroll service and I love numbers and usually love my job. I was thinking of going back to school when I was dx'd and now that has been on the back burner.

I am (was) a CNA,certified nurses assistant. My Dr already told me it is over.I already had scoliosis and arthritis in my back and a herniated disc in my neck. After surgery and chemo,I am unable to lift patients anymore.I started my job because I needed a job but I grew to love it so much. Some of the patients in nursing homes are so lonely and if I can make just one of them smile each day I worked,I know that I made a difference in someones life.I left the nursing home 3 years ago to do private duty/agency.All my patients (the ones still living) love when I visit which I do as often as I can.It is a dirty job sometimes but someone has to do it and we all need help at one time or another.I have made many good friends and still keep in contact with some of the families.I had good hours I worked 12 hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday and 8 hours on Monday then I was off all week and they still paid me for 40 hours. The benefits didn't come from the company but from within myself.I learned alot about life.

I am a social worker for the state & I love love love it! I get to work with all kinds of families & help them overcome issues that prevent them from having happy, healthy lives. It is definitely stressful & can be very unpleasant at times but the payoff is seeing the success and knowing that I was able to affect change in even one person's life for the better. I am very people oriented and love talking to people so this is definitely the best job for me!

After 30 years of searching, I finally found my niche! I am a Library Associate in rural mountain Maryland. I do Interlibrary loans for patrons and work at the reference desk answering quesitons. It's a good fit!

Iza, I am a translator, too... started as an in-house Interpreter, Russian-French-English, at a big corporation in Paris (in 1977!!), then met my husband and moved to the States and I have been a free-lancer since... I specialize in medical imaging (30 years at it, discovering all the technology breakthroughs as they came to market...) and radiotherapy... among other things. I already knew more than I wanted about BC because of the manuals I translate... and now I discover first hand... I try to make the whole journey a "technical research project"... can as well make something interesting out of it... This is a profession I chose from day one and love (I also love the commuting and dress code part of working at home, when you want to). I am old enough (54) to be "picky" and work only with good and courteous people with decent deadlines... You always learn something new in this profession, that's what I like.
    Good luck to you,
