Thats great they are paying Jann, its an aweful thing to (using dramatics here) Be fighting for your life and have to worry about how to pay for it. Sometimes it all just aggrevates me, like get me better then bill me.
    Please rest and pamper yourself.

Angel hahhaa on the heading to the car thing. I am afraid to go up to my brothers without putting something on the head and he is in the condo upstairs from me. Although it is cooler now the weather is getting hot. I tried the lint roller today and got a few hairs on it haha, looked hilarious. Boy our lives do get some new experiences with this stuff.

Angel - Thanks for the encouragement - I'll be resting on the Lido Deck after tx 4 this coming week but will go on May 22 for my rad mapping. I'll let you all know how that goes. The rad onc was the nicest of the many exams I've had since dx back in Dec. He was so discreet and gentle and he said the mapping should only take about 40 minutes. This was a relief as I've heard you could be stuck with your arm over your head for 90 minutes. I'll be starting 16 rads in early June. I'll keep you posted.

And Rosebud - my goodness, you are talented! I'm "sewing impaired".

Prayers to all of us at the bar this week and to those recovering.

Jann..how wonderful!!! When you start looking at the cost of this stuff it's amazing. I'm so happy that things have worked out for you.

Christine...good luck this week...hope this last one is gentle for you. Hair will be growing before you know it!

    Prayers and Hugs to all!

HI all - put me down for a bar reservation on Thursday - #4 A/C. I've had a busy weekend with several choir concerts for my oldest daughter.

Funny story - I haven't been wearing my wig because it gives me a headache. My wonderful sister sent me a "gel-band" - about a one inch wide strip that you are supposed to fasten around the hair line to help take the pressure off from wigs and to help hold scarves in place. It fastens with velcro. Since I was feeling better this weekend, I decided to wear the wig to my daughter's concert. I put the gel-band on, then the wig and it seemed to feel fine. About half-way through the concert, my 15 year old leaned over to me and whispered "the thingy is coming out". "What thingy", I asked. "The gel thingy" she said. Well, I could feel the band coming out from under the wig on the right side behind my ear. I started trying to stuff it back up under the wig and then the whole wig shifted to the left. I'm sure the people sitting behind me wondered what the heck was going on. I just decided to leave the thing alone until I could get to the bathroom and fix it. Needless to say, I wore a hat to today's performance. The music was wonderful and I was able to just enjoy the time.

The last treatment was rough, I was sick all weekend, then the big "C" caused a flare in hemorrhoids (a gift from my 9lb9oz baby - now the 15 year old). I'll be trying to work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Keep putting one foot in front of the other ladies!!!

Jeanne - Glad you were feeling better this weekend so that you could enjoy your daughter's choir events. Thanks for your gel-band story. Guess I won't try one of 'em after all. I can so relate with the wig causing a headache. I think I must have a big head - I've even had to cut the elastic at the back of the two turbans I alternate for bed (big, cold head).
Dawn - Sorry you had a traumatic time of it with the hair loss/buzzing. But you are so resourceful! It sounds like your arrangement of do-rag, cap and big hoops should see you right through.
Jann - what a relief that the insurance came through. Those companies hold so much power at this time in our lives.
rosebud - You are a very talented woman! Thank you for taking the time to share with us. Good luck with ebay!
Nancy - how was your cbc on Friday? Or do you have to still wait to hear? Hope this week turns out to be an easier one for you than the last rounds.

Every time I think I have a pattern figured out for my SE's, it changes. Day #5 was toughest for me for my first two rounds - not this time. So far Day#3 was a b!tch and Day#5 (today) I have been reasonably comfortable and productive. I even push-mowed my front lawn (it's very small). The first two rounds, my biggest post-treatment challenge has been my mouth and upper GI pain. My MD gave me Carfate ($$$) and it didn't seem to help much at all. This time around, I have been drinking a small glass of kefir every morning and am encouraged that it may be the answer for me. It provides a load of probiotics and may be enough to help my own body compensate rather than yet another pharmaceutical. <crossing fingers>

I sure would feel better if we heard from HollyHopes. There are several that haven't checked in from early on, but I think she was having the toughest time of it from the outset.

Best wishes to those of you gathering at the bar tomorrow. Many of us are rounding the halfway flag on this cruise (or better - Keenie, you just kick back up there on the Lido Deck and I'll be joining you before long!) and I am so proud of how well we all have been doing. Challenges have been overcome with courage and good spirits are evident amongst our whole crew! We are doing it!

    Hi girls!
I have not checked in for a few days but glad to hear no one has been to the hospital or that terribly ill recently. Angel & Whitecotten, I am in the same lifeboat with you - very few SE's that are worth complaining about, although the description of licking the semi truck tires is accurate and better than anything I could come up with!
Angel - don't worry if someone sees you bald - or, if you need to go out bald go naked too - maybe they won't notice your head! Also thanks for the Biontin tip-will look for it.
PMarsh - I hope your daughter's attitude is being adjusted. She is probably just scared about what's happening with you and acting out to get your attention. Is there anything you could ask her to do with you or for you that might make her feel better? My granddaughters (age 2 & 3 1/2) both have their own lint rollers at Nanny's house, and when they come here the littlest one pulls my hat off then they both march back to the bathroom, get the brushes and go to work! It is hysterical!
Christine - congrats on that last treatment! We all will get there soon enough, but it must feel fabulous!
Playwright-my mouth is watering for that burger right now! So glad to hear you are feeling better - it's NOT the same when you're not feeling up to par. I have been quiet this week for the same reason - just feeling more yucky and tired than I had after #1 & #2. I would definitely say #3 the worst so far, but not terrible. Your scrapbook pages were great! I have been going through 29 years worth of photos to get some together for DH 50th bday party May 11. And they are mostly in boxes. I always said I would make photo albums if I ever had to be off work for something......I've been off since Feb 5 and haven't started a damn one! July will be here and I'll be back at work and they'll still be in boxes....
Rosebud - the purses are beautiful! How are they going on eBay? I should think you will do well with them.
Dawn - I hear what you are saying about the wigs, girlfrind! I tried again to wear mine today to church and a bridal shower, but just could not do it: a)because it just does not feel comfortable on my head b)because the wig liner cuts off my circulation and c)because I do not like what I look like with it, even though others tell me it looks great. It is just not me and I get more upset looking at myself in the mirror with the wig on than I do looking at my old bald head. I will keep trying but so far I've only worn the wig 3 times, and I have 4 of them! I have been using a baseball hat alone, or with a bandanna type scarf tied under it. I also have been using longer scarves and tying them off to the side with long tails hanging, topped off by big earrings - that's my favorite solution. Also, if you have any pins, they can be pinned over the knot on the scarf to dress it up - and I have lots of pins! You can also use hair scrunches to dress it up.
Jann - so happy to hear that your ins paid.
Good luck at the bar this week to:
    Monday: Whitecotten , Jacque, Cynthia
    Tuesday: Rosebud , BettyeE
Wednesday: Taurie, PMarsh, Keenie YAHOO! Last one! Congratulations on that!
    Thursday: Playwriter, MissShapen, Sybilvox, MusicMom
I will be joining Rosebud and BettyE on Tuesday for #4 AC - half way point!
You know how many women celebrate their birthdays with a little pampering - maybe a manicure, pedicure or massage? Well, I celebrated mine on Wednesday with a Chinese Torture Treatment. I had issues last fall with my big toenails turning black and falling off (not painful, just UGLY!) and worked hard all winter to grow them back in time for flip flop season. Well, I noticed the left one was starting to look funny again - weird color and growing up from the nail bed. Turns out there was a major infection under the nail - so when I went to the Dr he said it needed to be removed - and he ripped it off without any anestetic. He also removed the one on the toe beside it. Painful to say the least. Still not sure of the cause - samples sent in last year did not show a fungus - but this has got to stop! Funny thing was, my wbc was high the week before, and was normal when taken the same day I had the nail removed. Need to ask my Onc about this on Tues - I would have expected it to be high while the infection was at it’s height. Other than that. I had a wonderful birthday. Now I am down to the final planning stages for DH’s 50th party, to be held May 11. I am pretty sure he knows by some of the questions he was asking last night, but oh well. I’m sure he’s not expecting the 150+ people that will be attending!
I hope everone, me included, has a great week with minimal SE’s! Keep up being creative, and more importantly keep up being POSITIVE!!

    Christine,
Thanks for the tip on sticking with the natural hair color for a while when it grows back in. I would have been so depressed if I ruined my hair and had to cut it off as soon as it grew back a little! Eek! I have a feeling I have lots of snow in store for me, but that's okay!

Congrats on the last tx coming up. I dream of the day I can utter those sweet words. Please do keep us educated on the rad adventure for all of us who will be joining you there.

    Marsha,
My tip for the big "C" is to drink Metamucil daily, eat Activia daily, and to take Senakot as soon as I get home from chemo. I have had terrible intestinal issues caused by chemo. I became so constipated after tx #1 and #2 that I gave myself hemorrhoids and perhaps even injured myself further down there. I am definitely not happy with what chemo is doing to my poor bahoochie!

HollyHopes.... please check in. We are all getting worried about you. Just pop in and say hello and let us know you're okay.

    Terri,
You're making me crave a big burger. Hmmmm, maybe for lunch today!

    Sybil,
So sorry you had to get delayed because of a scan, but hope it shows everything is okay. I'll be starting on weekly Herceptin after my next tx. It's all kinda scary taking all this stuff that might be damaging my heart.

I feel your pain about not making it to the bathroom. Sometimes I don't and I don't even have diarhea! Sometimes it's like my waste matter is alive and has been told to emergency evacuate. Fun times.

I'm suffering with all you ladies who don't feel quite comfortable in a wig. I also have the gel thingie that loops around my head (I have the hose type liner, too.). My wigs just never feel secure. It is extremely hot with them on now. I did order a short one from TLC to see if that would be better for the summer. I really need to work something else hot. My hats just aren't that dependable to stay on my head and I haven't really learned to tie a scarf securely yet. I'm just a mess!

    Jann,
Let me add my congrats on the insurance paying EVERYTHING! My insurance is pretty good, but the paperword doesn't always get turned into them properly which can cause me a headache at times. Anyway, good news is always welcome, eh?

    Jeanne,
I'm glad you were able to attend your daughter's concert, albeit with wig issues. I went out to eat with my son and his girlfriend and I was shoving my fake boob back into my bra (ever so discreetly) and my son caught me. I hate my mastectomy bra, so was wearing a regular one. I ordered some pieces to sew into my existing bras from TLC. I should be getting that order soon!

    Lisa,
It's just impossible to second guess our SE and come out being able to map anything! Lisa, I love your big, cold, bald head. Jacque's, too. And whoever else has one! LOL I have one, too! Hey, I called my dentist today to ask for rx floride and he said he wanted to see me first. So I am buzzing by there (pun intended) this afternoon for him to look in my mouth. Maybe I can get some magic mouthwash while I'm there!

    Diana,
I have been out of work about as long as you and I haven't gotten any scrapbooking done, either! I have the pictures, the scrapbooking materials, even the books to put them in! I have GOT to pull that stuff out and get at leadt one book done! Happy 50 to DH. Give him a little chemo kiss for me.

I hate to even mention this, but there are some nasty fingernail and toenail issues that can happen with chemo, too. I hope that one skips you!

I am feeling good and my feet are barely sore anymore. My hands are almost perfect! That was NOT fun!

Going to be a gorgeous day here. I am getting out of the house!! Joy!

    Love you all,
    Miss S

hey y'all, just checking in. went and volunteered at my DD's school this morning -- taught them about Andrew Wyeth, the painter.
my loose stools have stopped, but so has everything else. haven't had a BM in three or 4 days. going to go take some metamucil and see if that helps.
my head covering of choice is a do-rag and a baseball cap. i bought the do rags on ebay.
if i'm going to church or whatever, i just wear one of my hats from headcovers.com. i agree with all of u about wigs being hot and uncomfortable. plus i feel like a fake wearing one.
love and blessings to you all,
    terri
    p.s. happy birthday, diana, too!
ps, Hollyhopes -- last time you checked in was mid-April, and u said u were getting a home health nurse to help out. we miss u! let us know what's up, girlie.

    Hi Ladies,
Lovin' all the bald heads. I feel so at home here! I didn't lose all mine but it's very, very thin. I got the rest buzzed 'cause I couldn't stand the hair coming out as fast as it was. The buzz cut does shave a lot of time off my morning routine....

I've been on my "good week" but am getting ready to belly up to the bar this Wednesday for my Taxotere and Xeloda cocktail. Two weeks on, one week off. This will be 3 out out of 4, then I'll get another MRI to see if the tumors have shrunk enough to do a lumpectomy. Keeping my fingers crossed.

    Hugs to all,
    Lisa

Well I had a bad day today. The 'd' finally set in after chemo but I combated it real quick this time. Havn't felt good all day and spent the day laying around and sleeping if you can believe that. I think I got in about 12 hours of sleep today which is more than I get in a week usually. It felt soooooo great! I'm feeling better tonight but will probably be up all night now. Funny how we go from 'c' to 'd' in a matter of days. I'm just glad I can get rid of it now and not suffer like I did for round 1.

    Marshabel,
I usually take a Senekot on day 1 of chemo and sometimes will have to take another one the following day, but not usually.

    Playwriter & Rosebud,
You have guts girls. I wouldn't post my ole bald head here for anything much less naked in the tub........lol You go girls!

Wishing all at the bar this week no se's.
