Stupid names people give to their pets !!

What fun to read about pets' names. When I married my DH, I also inherited his sweet whippet, whose name was "Commie Dog" named from a line in an old war movie where somebody yelled "the commie dogs are coming over the hill"...I got lots of blank looks when I'd try to explain that Commie was short for Communist!!! Bless Commie Dog--he lost his battle to cancer while I was fighting mine......we now have a black lab mix, Pancho Villa, named for the famous Mexican bandito! And, he is quite the character. He's 4 yrs old now and finally settling down, but what a trip it's been with him. For the first couple of years, he thought his name was, "God Dammit" !!

My in-laws had a dachshund which was named Fritzie Longfellow. Quite fitting, wouldn't you say?

Our dachshund is Cooper....but for the longest time one of my coworkers thought I was saying Pooper! It too seemed fitting as he eats his own poop....yuk....yuk...yuk.

hi, i have 3 cats.
tubby my boy cat.
joe dirt my girl cat. she is gray and brown . she looks dirty all the time.
well then there is candy- my dads favorite aka fat cat or fats. she is a REALLY big cat. my dad would marry her if he could. i put her out at night and he lets her in. we do this for a couple hours before we sleep. dad always wins and lets her in.

This is a great post. I'm a real pet person and I love hearing all the names everyone's given their pets. Our current pets are 2 chocolate labs. Our female's name is Brandy (short for Brandy's Knothead Girl - a mixture of her parents names). Our male is a rescue and we picked him up on Friday the 13th so we considered naming him Lucky but ended up with Luke although he's usually called Lukie.

At one time we had a beautiful siamese cat that my DH decided to call Cecil. Still not sure how he came up with that name.

Our most unusual pet was an iguana my daughter had for about a year and it was named Skeeter.

When I was a little girl, I had these pets:

dogs: Trixie, Barney, Skilley, Pebbles, and Puppy
cats: Cho-Cho, Cho-Cho II, Cho-Cho III (I liked that name!), Simone, Mama Cat, and Dirty Nose
bird: Tweetie-Pie
white mice: Cindy, Peggy, and Rachelle (named after my best friends of the time)

As an adult, I've shared my life with the following dear furkids:

cats - Miss Kitty (shortened to Missy), Mervyn, Maxie, Minnie - all have now gone to the Rainbow Bridge. We currently have Fritz, Missy (named after Miss Kitty), Melvin, Spot, Freddie, and Georgie.
dog - Scooby-Doo. My husband named him before we met. If I'd had a say-so, I might have chosen a different name; however, his name fits him.

For nicknames, all of the cats get "poo" added onto their names, as in "Fritzie-poo," "Mevlie-poo," etc. We call the dog "Scoobers" sometimes and Fritz often gets called "Fritzers." Also, around our house you might hear "furface, fuzzy-butt, booger-butt," and others, depending on "Mom and Dad's" moods.

Oh, we also have an angel fish named Angel. Can't forget our finbabies. Angel shares his tank with tetras 1-3.

The first two names that sprung to my mind for the pair are Zeus and Apollo. I guess because I relate them to being strong names and I see your pair growing into big, strong dogs.

We have a springer now named "Ted" When we were first married, we have a female airdale/brown lab mix named "ms bear" She looked just like a bear cub and since she was female....

how about KATZENJAMMER!

My dog is a rescued Shepard mix by the name of Montana Joe. I am a diehard San Francisco 49r fan so she is named for Joe Montana.

Our wonderful cat's name was Dumptruck. He was born in, guess... a dump truck. My husband does construction and one of the guys drove the truck to the site and they were emptying it out and found a kitten. The guy who drove it said that a huge cat had jumped from the roof of the cab to the hood and off as he was driving away from the office. So 3 guys were emptying garbage out of a dump truck piece by piece looking for more kittens. They found 2. ("Dumptruck 1" and "Dumptruck 2") One of the guys girlfriend's cat had just had kittens so they took them to her and she adopted them. One died and the mom cat through out the other one after a month or so - that was our "Dumpers". He totally attached himself to us and us to him. The day after we found out we were going to Brazil for 6 months he disappeared. The way I put it is that he joined the food chain from the wrong end. We live in the woods and there's lots of coyotes. It's just a fact of life but it was really heartbreaking to lose Dumptruck. Haven't had another cat since (it's been 3 years since we've been home from Brazil).

There are all sorts of great horse names. (Mine's name is Rosie because she's pink.) My faves are "Way Cool, Jr" and 'Juan Connemara" - now just try not singing that one!

thats funny about your dumpster cats names; i was at work and the dumpster door suddnly opened, and out jumped this little bitty kitty, so small, no tail, sick, etc. well i adoopted her and named her CRUNCH, cause she survived getting chewed up by the dumpster blades, she was my spirit cat, i loved her so much. she went over the raimbow ridge and i have two more feral cats now, named BAMBO,(he will bite, but will always give me warning) 25 lbs. stayed right beside me after my surgery, never did that before.
and little CICI girl, who loves BAMBO, but he rules, and grooms her for a while, then trys to chomp on her neck! she screams and runs to me.. just love these two..

my friend has a male cat named ms. thing. she said when she found him as a stray kitten she thought it was a female. turned out it was a male. so his female name stuck.
