Just checking in to say hi. Been so busy lately that I haven't had time to check everyone's posts. I'm with you in spirit all the time my friends...even if I'm popping in infrequently.

Saw my Endocrinologist yesterday. Everything is looking fine with my Synthroid & seems a complete cure to the thyroid cancer. I didn't expect anything suspicious. It was just a follow up. Sometimes sucks going 3 1/2 hours each way to New York for just a follow up...but I'll never regret going to Sloan for all this cancer crap. They've been the best to me.

The boys started baseball this month, so things get busy really quickly for me. Both boys play on a different team and on a different level, so there is either practice or a game almost every night. We live at that darn ballpark until June! But, they love it and I love them, so we stick it out. Bella has her dance recital in June, too. OMG, the 3 & 4 year olds are just so precious up there doing their tap and ballet. I just well up thinking about it. She was only 2 when I was dx'd and I worried to death about not seeing her first recital...now I get to see her second and planning on seeing all the rest, too!

Did the Elizabeth Edwards recurrence hit you guys as hard as it hit me? Damn disease. I hate it.

Fill me in on what is going on! Kim

Hey Kim! Sounds like you are one busy girl with the kids. I have one and I don't know how people do it with more than one child in more than one activity. We have guitar on Monday's, church on Wed, karate on Thurs. Soon church on Wednesdays will be over and the on to the baseball season. I LOVE baseball season! Watching these kids play and learn the game is a riot. I just found out his games are on Wed. nights. And *I* bowl on Tuesdays! That is almost over, too. I love getting together with all the girls, but dang, I miss American Idol

My thyroid nodule has not grown at all according to my last ultrasound (early March). Woohoo!

I think you need to post a couple of pics of this darling girl in her dance costume.

    Take care,

    Kim,
Nice to hear from you. all is well. I have my last TAC on May 2!! The Elizabeth Edwards thing hit me really hard too. She was diagnosed stage III like us. Glad your thyroid is ok. I still haven't seen an Endocrinologist. The onc wants me to wait until I get done the chemo. One thing at a time, I guess.
It seems like wherever I look or go, BC is right there in front of me, I can't get away from it.

Good to know you're doing well, Kim. Life is busy with baseball... I remember those days! My boys were far enough apart to be on separate teams most of the time, too.

I am just getting started with chemo and have been sick almost every day since my first treatment. My second one is coming up this week.

The Elizabeth Edwards thing hit me hard, too. Of course, I'm new enough that I get ill every time I think about METS. And the news about Tony Snow was disheartening, as well. I see all the young women on this board and it just totally stinks.

I have a thyroid thing going on, too. I have a nodule on one side and a cyst on the other. My biopsy came back benign so I am just being watched now. BTW, that biopsy hurt way more than the FOUR breast biopsies I have had.

Anyway, glad everyone is doing okay. This weather makes me feel better. So I think that is a little boost for everyone living in the parts of the world that are coming to life!

    Have a great weekend!

    Hey Bugs,
So good about the nodule staying the same. If I remember correctly, that is exactly what the endocrin wants...no progression. I hear you about your schedule, we also have CCD Monday nights, sometimes I have to get one of the boys to practice by 5:30, then to CCD by 6:30 even though practice isn't over. Where does that leave dinner? I hate Mcdonalds, but sometimes that is my only choice. Its that or stuffing dinner down their throats at 4:30!
Bella's costumes from last year were adorable! She was measured for this year, but the costumes aren't in yet. I'll post one of her from last year...too darn cute!

Ilene - Wow! your last TAC already? I know it seems like an eternity but I think it went fast! Good for you. Congrats in advance. I hope it did its job - I know it did! I waited on the thyroid surgery until after chemo, too. Normal procedure I believe. Even if its thy ca, it isn't anything close to serious like the breast ca.

Miss S, I'm so sorry you are sick every day. What kind of premeds are you taking and what chemo? I was never sick a day during chemo & I did dose dense a/c, taxol & herceptin. Please don't allow this to continue. Demand the right meds, they are avail. Good luck to you on that. And...I also had a negative biopsy that turned out to be cancer after I had the thyroidectomy. They say there is a very low false negative margin, but I fell into that catagory. Are you going to have the thyroid removed after chemo?

Thanks for checking in. I hope to hear from the rest of you, too.

    Hi Kim,

Good to hear all is well! Elizabeth Edwards did hit me hard, especially since I am currently at my one-year mark (Apr 2) and am having all my follow-up tests. My heart breaks for her andd women going through it.

It is great to get back to the crazy schedule, especially since I was absent for most of it last year. My children are involved in baseball, track softball, boy scouts, dance..we are out every night!

I live in southeastern pa also.

    HAve a great weekend!

Good to hear from you Kim! I feel great on my Synthroid, but doc wants to cut the dose because my TSH is at about zero. We are still in negogiations!

LOL about the baseball. I am now staying home getting my son's uniform washed in time before his pictures today at noon. He had a game on Thursday and forgot to put it in the wash.

This fall- we will have all 3 kids playing soccer and they will be in three different divisions, with three different playing fields. My husband and I are working on a clone.

    Life is good.

Glad that you popped in. Yes. EE hit me like a ton of brick. Ended up drinking several glasses of wine that night.

Sounds like you are busy! My twins just finished wrestling and now the 7 year old is starting soccer. We go to Disney in 14 days!

Marg...I have been in that postition many times where the uniform didn't make it into the wash...why can't we have three sets? The pants only cost about $10 - they should be disposable instead of me stain sticking them every single night. And my boys LOVE to get dirty. If they don't slide during the game, they slide afterward to make sure the dirt is ground in. Oh, and the clone thing....boy do I ever need one. I have to be at two different places at the same time multiple times this season, so not sure how we'll swing it. DH works 7 days a week, so hard to count on him. He does volunteer to assistant coach my middle one's team, but that doesn't mean he'll make all the games. Good luck with soccer!

Janis, do your twins like wrestling? My boys never really got into it, but my nephew wrestles for middle school. I enjoy watching it. And your 7 year old is a soccer boy...well doesn't that make you a soccer Mom? I've never been one...my boys are baseball, football & hockey. I'm sure it will develop into more than that once they hit middle school where lacross, basketball and wrestling are available. Oh...I can't wait, lol!

Disney in 14 days sounds like a dream! I love, love, love Disney. Went last August with my family & friends. Was the 3rd time in 5 years. This year we're going to Daytona for race week in July. My men love Nascar. Bella & I are going on the beach. I'll be so close to Disney that I might not be able to resist. Have a blast! Hope the waterparks are open. They're my favorite!

    Hey Kim,

I am getting DD A/C then DD T. I will start Herceptin with the Taxol. I have Zofran and Phenergan for nausea and I have Oxycodone for pain and I also have Ativan.

The nurse at the cancer center told me the Neulasta shot I must get after each chemo is what is causing all the problems. However, I did have some other stuff going on surrounding the time frame of this first chemo. Hopefully the next tx will go better.

My surgeon didn't tell me if she was planning to remove my thyroid later or not. She just said we would watch it. She is probably trying to give me a break right now. LOL

I am going to try to be more proactive with my SE and see if I can't do better!

    Thanks for the input!

    Miss S,
That Neulasta shot is the pits. I, too, remember it being worse with the pain vs the chemo. But there are better meds than what you are taking. Ask for Emend, it works better as one drug than the two you are taking. I also took decadron before & it really helped. Its a steroid, so there are some side effects, but none related to nausea. Good luck! I hope you do better next time.

    Hey,
Its weird that some of us have tyroid problems too, along with the BC. I too, found the thyroid biopsies the worst procedure than anything. Just the thought of it makes me sick. It hurt so bad and they stuck the needles in 5 times.
    Fitztwins,
Have a great time in Disney!
    Beth,
Where did you go for your treatment? I am from just outside Phila.
    Miss S,
My third TAC was much worse than others because I had a sinus infection too, and was just off antibiotics. I had my 4th TAC last week, and after 3 days I was much better than the time before which I was down for almost 10 days.
I hope your next ones are much easier for you.

    Hey Kim!!!
Good to see you. I just check in every so often too. Guess we are back in full swing. Glad everything at your appt went well.
Guess what??? We may be going to Daytona too!!!! That would be too funny if we are there at the same time. After all, we do tend to run into each other at events that we don't even know the other is going to!!!
Things are nuts here too. Going back to work full time sure puts a damper on my social life and internet time. Plus our church jobs keep us busy now, esp this week.
Every ache I have in my ribs I am sure the beast is back. I am sure we are all like that the last two weeks.
My friend at church who called you is doing well. She goes to Sloane every six weeks now. She is feeling pretty good. And she did a clinical trial!
Take care and we'll chat later!

Hey Heidi! That would be nuts if you were at Daytona at the same time. We're going from July 5 - 10th. Pete's cousin works there at the VIP entrance, so we'll probably be around there before and after the games. You have my cell#, too, you can call me anytime.
I know you are busy with going back to work & church...but I hope its a nice busy. How are Tim & Jeremy? We started baseball so my life is very busy with that, normal day to day stuff, volunteering etc. But I'm enjoying it. Looking forward to summer. Maybe we can meet to have lunch once school ends? We're definitely coming to Hershey Park either this spring or early summer. I'll let you know when we go.

    Hi Kim,
I was upset about EE too. BC is senseless, indiscrimate and I hate it.

So glad to hear all's well, and you are busy with your little ones. I think it's great.
I just came from my (local) onc's visit, and everything looks great for me too.
Nassau is just crazy with all the Anna Nicole stuff going on.
My DH's brother is representing Larry Birkhead and I can't seem to escape all the commotion!!Oh Yeah and the spring breakers are here too.
Anyway, hope the weather is getting nice, When I lived in NJ Spring was my favorite season.
Janis; Enjoy Micky with the boys!

    Hey Linda,
I thought of you and the whole Anna Nicole thing. I was wondering how it was going with all the media, little did I know you were directly impacted with your brother in law. My Mom is a huge court TV fan and fills me in on all the nonsense. She's a hoot.
We did have a few beautiful spring days. Today it is rainy and chilly. Its actually going to be cold on Easter, which sucks b/c my kids all have spring clothes to wear. They'll be wearing winter coats over top their pretty and handsome outfits, bummer!
The kids are on spring break and are spending the night at my sister's tonight so Pete & I are headed to Atlantic City for a night of gambling and hopefully winning!
Take care, hope you are well,

Oh Sherri, I LOVE Oregon!! I had friends that lived outside of Baker City and I would go out and play cowgirl for a week. LOVED it! (course, the ranch next to them had some guy that wore his chaps all the time and that was awesome ) They live here in MN now, so I haven't been out there since Gabe was a toddler. I expect to see pictures when you return!!

Gotta love mom patrol because it gives you no breaks for breast cancer! In the span on 2 weeks I have had both my 5 year old and my 3 year old at the Emergency Room for stitches! And the funny thing is - I am not complaining! I am so HAPPY to be here doing these crazy mom things and kissing boo boos. I know it would have seemed like a huge inconvenience before and now I just take it in stride. Life is funny like that.

Good to hear how well everyonoe is doing. I, too, was very upset about EE. Kinda went into denial mode there a bit. It just gets too much some days.

DisneyLand sounds fantastic and can't wait to take the kids on vacation.

Oh Victoria, good luck with your move. It is a huge undertaking. One I'm glad not to have to do. We built our house right on our farm and plan to live here for eternity. Either that or when we hit the lottery and can retire from farming, whichever comes first! I have so much junk piled up from the 13 years we've been living here that I really should move so I can get rid of it all!

Well, we actually won in AC last night. Well, let me correct that....Pete won & I lost, but whose counting? I always lose. At least this time I didn't lose more than he won, so we came home (at 2:30 this morning) winners for once. Not big winners, but when you can have dinner for free, play for a few hours, have a few cocktails and come home with more money then you left, its winning in my book.

I've never been out west other than to Las Vegas, but I would love it there. I'm a cowgirl at heart with my cowboy boots every day and my rhinestone tshirts from the rodeo! I've been known to take the kids to Cowtown in New Jersey for the rodeo on Saturday nights in the summer. All you Philly & Jersey girls will know what I'm talking about!

Karen, are you going to Disneyland???? Again, like with Janis, I'm incredibly jealous.

{{{Sherri}}} How the heck are you???? I missed you! Glad to see you back. I haven't been reading much lately, just started this thread to catch up with everyone and so glad to see your shining face. Getting geared up for Graduation and your trip? Hope you have a blast.

I'm off for now...Oh, I forgot to mention that I became involved with a breast cancer organization that I would love for you girls to check out. I posted their website years ago when I found it, but just started working with the founder, a young survivior named Leigh. Go to www.feelyourboobies.com and look around. Lots of fun boobies stuff to buy, but also lots of good information on feeling your boobies. I've bought a car magnet for everyone in my family!

I am so excited about FL and WDW. We leave a week from Saturday!!! The boys are so excited right now, they are begging me to color eggs. We have this old Lativian tradition that we bonk eggs on Easter. My brother John is carrying on for Grandpa.

I also have to brag just a tad. I got new wood floors! I was going to get them 2 years ago but BC took all my $$. This year we could swing it with my bonus...check them out!

The boys are helping us paint..

They were so proud of themselves. DH Was freaking a bit!!

oh, Linda...so your BIL is involve with the whole Anna Nicole thang? that is funny!

Sue, I knew someone would ask...Hard boiled eggs...One person holds the egg in a fist with one end showing, the other person tries to crack it with a little tap. The person who cracks the other egg wins the egg.

Yes - my husband and I are going to escape for a long weekend to DisneyLand after my last chemo (and before my surgery). I think we deserve it and its only a quick plane ride away.

I love the wood floors! Gorgeous. We have maple floors in our house and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them.

Getting ready for the Easter Bunny this weekend. Kids want to set a trap for the poor thing and "keep him".

    Hi Ladies,
It's great to hear everyone's goings on.
Kim,I think you came out a winner in AC. A nice dinner , cocktails with your DH and some gambling entertainment sounds like a good time.
Janis, your floors are really nice, and your boys are getting sooo big.
As for me, on the ANS front: all is quiet , Tuesday according to my BIL is the day that paternity will be released to the public.
This weekend is a HUGE family reunion. My DH has 11 siblings !, and relatives are flying in from all over for this 3 day bash. My DH's grandparents had a bunch of kids, and alot of family members are scattered everwhere.
Depending on which "child " you're from we all have different colored tee shirts, and badges. Very organized.
We have a full brochure , mugs, the whole nine yards.
( I had nothing to do with the planning of this )
Should be a real hoot, as there are alot of chracters down here especially from this family!
Anyhoo, wishing all my sisters a very blessed Easter!

Linda-your reunion sounds like a blast.
Kim-so glad you hear "yous" won!!! I will let you know when the trip to Daytona is scheduled.
Have a great Easter everyone. The Easter Bunny is coming here too. I had to remind him that it isn't Christmas and there are already enough toys in this house:)
