PJ, that sounds like a very fast closing. It seems like just yesterday your mom was making a decision about moving. Mary, I am with you...do not like mosquitoes, public facilities, or.....well I like the amenities of home, plain and simple...I admit it. Be there done that from the time I was in scouts. Was not crazy about it back then either. In fact I have been invited to go camping during my break. It is not up there on my top ten list of things to do.

Just got back from evaluation contracting in another county. When I contract, I do not let grass grow under my feet. I do not take a break, a lunch and do not pass go.....so I am tired to say the least.

Going to play restaurant trivia tonight. Ya'll be good now.

I didn't see RV, but I did see "Snakes on a Plane". Just another reason to never fly!!!!!!!! OK--we have had winds blowing at 45 MPH all day and gusting to 60. Needless to say it makes it hard to walk or drive and when I got home something had blown into the garage window and broken the top so I had glass to clean up from all over the floor. Then I got some heavy cardboard and duct taped it to the frame because I didn't find any wood that size that I could nail over the window. Anyhow, I was standing outside putting an extra layer of duct tape on the thing and I was balanced on one foot on my tippy-toes and a gust of wind came up and blew me over just like a little weeble-wobble. HUMMMM??? I guess maybe I'd better put on a few pounds or something. SO our nice weather is over and we're supposed to get 2 inches of snow tonight and 4 more tomorrow with blizzard warnings and all the same old same old same old stuff we heard all winter. Maybe it will miss us, but I'm fearful that this darn wind is blowing up something not so great. SIGH Gonna go watch House and sip hot chocolate and rub Icy-Hot on the bruises from my window repair escapade. Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Weebles Wooble but they don't fall down.....so did you pop right back up? It is in the 80's here. Snow and blizzards seem so surreal right now. I guess I should turn in. My eyes do not wish to stay open....just because it is midnight I guess. Night All.

Yep!! I jumped right back up because my dog was standing there barking like Lassie. He thought I wanted to play or something. Wind is down a few MPH this am and it hasn't started to snow yet, but it looks Ugly out there and the radio has a blizzard warning every 5 minutes. SIGH. I'm a little stiff and sore this morning??? Too bad I don't have a coating like a weeble-wobble!! Gonna go to work--Have a wonderful day ladies. Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Okay, so I'm apparently talking to myself, but on the off chance I'm not--here's my day--The skies opened up and dumped buckets of rain on us--I drove home at noon and pumped about 3 inches of water out of my basement--Went back to work--Got SOAKED running from my car to the daycare and back to transport kids to and from school--Came home tonight in a downpour so dense that I could hardly see the road--My Porch was leaking when I got home--My porch NEVER leaks--It has an excellent roof over it--WTH???--Mopped porch--Pumped 4 more inches of water out of basement--Rain finally stopped about an hour ago and now it's starting to SNOW--Gosh, I LOVE living in Montana--It's lively!!!!!!!! Gosh Nancy Lee, I thought Il. weather sucked. I am about as far north as I can stand weather wise. I plan to work in my yard today. Maybe plant a few bulbs. The flowers and garden stuff aren't out yet but some of the herbs are so I can get them in. I love to cook with fresh herbs. Have a good day ladies. Mary

We are now having mild weather. Only going to reach mid 60's tomorrow after a cool night. Saw where OK had several bad tornadoes. Something freaky going on with the weather. I will be glad when my youngest becomes a full fledged meterologist and can tell me what is going on.

Mary, you are quite the green thumb -- out there planting already. Saw my Dad today and realized he is putting on weight. He used to work outside a lot. I don't think he does much except sit and eat now....at least that is what he is doing when I see him...usually both at the same time. He has never been the least bit on the heavy side before, but he has definitely gained some weight now. He is now first on the list to move to a more structured unit since he is steadily going downhill, which is what we expect due to his condition.

My own memory is really worse lately. I think (don't remember exactly) that I read something about my Parkinson's meds causing that....just what I need on top of chemo brain. I will have to look it up again....then decide if I should shake or forget. If it worked the other way, I could forget I was shaking...might not be so bad. Speaking of which, my arm is reminding me it is time for my meds now. That is one thing I cannot forget for long. lol

Talk to ya'll later. Must go score and interpret some protocols (if I remember how).

    Later,

Work in the garden???? I'd have to dig it out of the snow. It didn't stop once it started last night and now I'm living in a winter wonderland once again. The bright side?? you may ask?? Since it is cold enough to snow, it's too cold for my basement to leak. YAY!! Busy day at daycare and kids were like caged lions because they couldn't go outside and play. One of my employees is partially deaf in one ear and she told me today that she's getting an earplug for the other one so she can stand to be near the big playroom when the kids get going at mega-speed and noise. Okay--so this morning at 6 am I started out to town to open the daycare and I got about a quarter of a mile from my house and I couldn't see 2 feet in front of the jeep. So I called a girl who works for me and lives actually in town and had her open. Then I called my other two town-living ladies and got them up. I actually waited until the sun came up and then drove in, but my other two workers who live out of town didn't make it to work. We have about a foot and a half of snow and it's a mess. They plowed the main roads, but my road in to the ranch is just a track through the snow. But on the PLUS side, we had a nice quiet day with only 30 kids and 4 babies is all. This was good because my baby lady was one who didn't make it to town. The other was my cook, but I made chicken nuggets and crinkle fries for the troops. They loved it. Well, I'm gonna shower and snuggle up in my jammies and watch the movie that I rented tonight after work. Hope you all are having a wonderful Friday. Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Well, 12:20 and I'm still sitting around in my jammies. I just got up at 10:30 and figured I'd just stay comfy until somebody showed up and made me get dressed. So far so good!! I'm kinda dizzy and pukey from the pain killers I'm taking so I don't really feel up to getting going today. Can you all believe that tomorrow is April Fools' Day? Gosh, March just flew by. I need to go outside and read the numbers on the REA meter tomorrow. Hopefully, it will be smaller than last month, but since February only had 28 days and March had 31--I'm afraid it will be bigger. But it was warmer SOME of March before it decided to turn into winter again. Oh, well, gotta quit rambling and make some sort of food to try--maybe a strawberry-banana smoothie--Yah, that's the ticket. Have a wonderful weekend ladies. Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Gosh Nancy, you are a brave sole because I freak out when it snows and I have to drive out of town. The roads become covered quickly and make it hard to see where they are. I am just chilling around the house today because the sun never shines here! We are in for a big chill from 80 to 50 then down in the 20's. Glad I didn't plant anything that would die from frost. I have to go to the derm. to get a few things frozen Tue. and I am going to pick up a few things for the grandkids for Easter. I made them a basket but I have to put something in them. Hubby will be home Fri. or Sat. then off a wk. Who will die first him? or Me? We are not going up to Niagra falls because it will be too cold. I want to go some place not too far and go some place better in the summer. Maybe we can just hang out here. All the kids will be on spring break and it will be crowded at all the good places like beaches. I don't think he will feel like driving. Hey Janie, you have to be proud of yourself for raising educated kids. Good job girlfriend!!!! Well, have a great wk. end girls and stay warm Nancy Lee. Has your mom moved P.J. Hugs, Mary

Nancy, did you make the nuggets and fries from scratch or take them out of the freezer? Knowing you, you rung the chicken's neck and did the whole thing single-handed with the other tied behind your back.

Mary, I am betting on you being the survivor in that house. Tool man may fall off a ladder or something.

I went to Niagra Falls many years ago in March. Like to froze my hinny off! You are wise to wait.

Thank you. I am very proud of my "youngins" for many reasons. You did a pretty bang up job yourself lady.

PJ, PJ, Wherefore art thou, PJ? (confession, I forgot the quote and had to google it -- as long as I have google and dictionary.com maybe I can hobble along without my memory).

Jeesh, so it's 50 today and it's raining and the snow is being melted and washed away into YOU GUESSED IT my basement. Two different families in town have literally moved their houses off the foundations and put in new basements. That would cost me WAY more money than I have so I guess I'll just sump pump it til I win the lottery or something. Janie--I love the google and dictionary.com statement. I rely on them and wikipedia to bolster my lost memory. A friend called me up the other day to ask me for a name of someone else's mother and I said "give me some time and call back". Well, about 4 hours later and after I had run the alphabet through about 40 times trying on different names--I remembered it. Actually, by myself, I came up with Jodi. I can't believe I actually dredged it up all by myself. YAY!! But then I turned around and lost your donation to the Relay, Mary. But not to worry, I found it after I opened the book that I'm reading. I remember that I got it at the post office and put it in the book thinking that was one place I'd be sure to not lose it because I usually carry my current book back and forth wherever I'm going. I can read in the car while I wait for the kids to get out of school and I read in the cot room while the kids are falling asleep during afternoon nap time. Thank you, thank you for your donation. I'm actually excited about getting an early start to my team this year. Before I've always waited to the last minute and then gotten stuck rushing around from door to door. This year I'm not gonna do that. Well, Happy April Fools' Day Ladies Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Nancy, I don't know where you get the energy. I cleaned half my house today and I am beat. My friend talked about walking tonight and I am glad she didn't call because the only way I could move is to have her tie a rope around my neck and drag me behind her car. I scrubbed carpet, thats pretty serious cleaning for me. Am I nesting? Why? I don't have the equipment. I don't know what has gotten into me but I hope it is here tomorrow because I need to do the other half now. I have a sinus thing going on and I don't like it. Left side of head, face and throat hurt. My gums hurt like a I have a bad tooth too on that side. P.J. My sister told me she has a friend from Waco. My sister is a flight attendant and her friend is too. Thats how they met. Well I better get and relax. I will have to walk tomorrow I guess. My friend walks miles everyday but hey; I don't so this should be interesting. She may be dragging me. I bet she won't ask me to go again. I want to walk and exercise but I am just uhhh, lazy. Well I guess my lazy days are over unless I can pull something or sprain something . Later girls, Mary

Mary, I find walking is palatable if you keep your eyes peeled for any money people might have dropped along the road. Granted, I've never actually found any...

Nancy, have fun pumping out that basement. Janie, you guys having the nice weather we are? It's wonderful. Planted more stuff today. I'll be tired of planting in a couple of weeks and too lazy to even water. But, boy, I'm good in early April.

I really like to WALK and that is what I do at all these events. I learned early on in life never to RUN unless something is chasing you that could hurt or even eat you. So that pretty much takes care of my running except when I jogged over to the school last week when it was 70 that day. The ktg boys said that they could beat me to the stop sign at the end of the block and I proved them wrong. It helps that my legs are like 3 times as long as theirs, but they didn't realize that. They just thought they could beat me cuz I'm SO OLD!! Heh, heh, age and treachery wins out against youth and strength one more time. I already took my Ambien so I'm missing keys and it's getting hard to type. Probably won't remember doing this in the morning. Nite all and hope you survived the day as well as I did. Paula, It has been in the 80's most days. The pollen count is very high though....over 5,000 two days in a row! You see yellow cars all over the place. It did rain a little bit yesterday and that helped clear the air some.

NL, "back" when I was in my forties, I took aerobics. She had us take laps for a certain number of minutes one night and I was amazed at the burst of energy and speed I got near the end. I lapped several who were half my age and the only person who finished faster than I did was a P.E. teacher, so I was feeling pretty dang proud, and I was not on any kind of regimen or anything other than the classes along with everyone else. However, these days? Probably would not make the lst lap. lol. I need to get back into shape because I feel like I probably could, even now.

Mary, take care and hope you feel better soon. Would tell you to head south, but sounds like you don't need the pollen thingee we have going on.

TN girls play Rutgers tomorrow night (Tues) for the NCAA championship! GO LADY VOLS!

    Have a great day ladies,

So I opened the daycare this morning and made french toast for the troops, then taught preschool for 2 hours, put a toddler to sleep in a bouncy seat and then drove up to the ER in Glendive in a howling ground blizzard/snowstorm to have bloodwork, x-rays, scans, etc. to find out why my backache won't go away. I didn't get any definite answers today, but they gave me a painkiller shot that wouldn't make me drowsy when I drove back home and then some pain killers and muscle relaxants to take tonight. I got home at 7:30 and took the pills at 8 and I'm thinking it's a good thing I didn't take them sooner. My back feels lots better, but I'm loopier than normal. The doctors said not to lift anything heavier than 5 pounds--give me a break--my jeans with all the crap in the pockets weigh THAT much and I don't think I have a bag that weighs less than 10. I'm a BAG lady!! Did I ever mention that? I carry at least 3 bags of crap around with me all the time. I might NEED something out of one of them sometime!!??? I'm crazy--also tired of winter and going to take my dizzy self to bed--Night all-- Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Gosh Nancy, I hope your back is better. You may have to stop carring heavy bags. Today is the last warm day and we are going to get bad storms. I have to drive to Spring. to the dermatologist and the storms rolling accross the flat land are hard to drive in. I am leaving this a.m. and get some Easter stuff for the grandkids while I am there. I stubbed my toe in the middle of the night and it feels broke. Maybe it is just really sore. Better get going. Hows the house going P.J. Hows the Ladie Vols doing Janie? Later girls, Mary

My mom's flying back up that way tomorrow. Some hiccups in getting utilities turned on at the new house, but other than that, all looks great over there. She's still not sleeping since she has her wisconsin house yet to sell. Poor thing.

NL, I was told not to lift >5 lbs bc of the lymphedema. That is when I discovered how many things weigh more than 5 pounds. I transport test kits among other things at work. I learned many years ago that a luggage cart helps tremendously. I go everywhere dragging mine behind me (usually loaded to the brim). Of course, I have to pull it up the steps at one of my offices.

Speaking of my lymphedema, the clinic never did call me to come in. The onc wrote me a prescription and also put in an order for the secretary to call them. I was told it took forever to get in and they would call me. That was weeks ago. I am thinking of taking my script to one that is closer to me anyway and see if they will take me based on the script. I ordered a new sleeve and cannot wear it bc it is too tight. I am still wearing the old one that is stretched of shape and the bandages.

Mary, Mary you cannot get your whole body working at once it seems. Remember when I broke my toe over a year ago and people said there is nothing they can do about it so I took my time getting to the doc. Well, don't believe that myth. I ended up wearing a boot for six weeks. I had split the bone lengthwise and then the whole toe bone was broken away from the foot. Said he had never seen anything like it, but he was able to "fix" it. I was real cute with my boot on my foot and my sleeve on my arm and very little hair on my head. Took forever to get ready in the mornings.
Be careful during the storms. Don't blow away.

The Lady Vols are hanging in there. Play for the championship at 8:30 ET tonight against Rutgers. Rutgers is really in there fighting. They WERE the underdogs, yet the way they were hitting every basket the other night against LSU, it promises to be a good game tonight. TN beat NC in the semis but neither one of them were hitting as good as Rutgers did.

PJ, hope all goes well with the houses. It will be great having your Mom near you.

Hey girls, I told my derm. about my toe making fun of how graceful I am when I am half asleep and she said "tape it" but I already did. It hurts but I guess it will quite some time soon, I hope. I bet I will be careful from now on when I am half asleep and have to pee really bad because I laid there not wanting to get up until I had to. My former employer passed away and I went to the funeral home but could not go see him. I was affraid I would really cry. I spoke with one of his daughters(I was crying like a fool) and left. I just didn't want to get myself very upset. Does that sound bad? (I can't stand to see people in pain so I can go to a funeral home of someone I never met and cry for them.) He was the one I took care of 20 hours a day for 3 years but I worked for him over 10 years in all. I went to the nursing home and saw him regularly and fed him lunch some times. He was a good friend. I am going to try to go to the funeral but if I cry like I am silly, I will leave so as not to bother the family. Glad things are going along for your mom P.J. and Janie, I guess there are breaks that can be bad in the toe. My mom broke hers longwise too and had to wear a boot. Maybe mine is just bruised really bad. I tell ya I can't even put a shoulder bag on my shoulder anymore especially if it is heavy. Wow the temp dropped like 25 degrees this eve. It is cold and rainy, how nice. Later ladies, mary

I hear you talking Mary. Deep down, in light of my beginning "poor unfavorable" prognosis, I know I am very fortunate to still be chugging along cancer-free, whatever the residuals. Having said that, sometimes I get really aggravated that I was one of the ones who got lymphedema out of it, the only one I know whose treatment brought on Parkinson's, had a swollen belly before dx due to gastritis and the chemo/steroid regimen did its thing and made it worse, and it has never gone down sufficiently, my hair came back thin....you know, it seems like what you just said, looks like we could go forward without repercussions from this point. sigh.

On a brighter note, the weather is fairly nice here. A little cool, supposed to freeze the next two days. Do not know what that will do to the Masters golf tournament 100 miles away from here (north).

mary and nl, hope you all feel better. pj, hope all is well with the moving situation.

    happy Easter weekend everyone!

The LE clinic called back. I now have a 5:00 tonight. That is encouraging. Maybe I will not have to miss work for therapy sessions, something I was concerned about since it is daily in the beginning. Be there done that already so I know the drill. I admit I stopped the daily massage. Did not have the time or patience. I did continue the wraps and sleeves however. I would love to have a compression machine and one of those doohickeys you can wear instead of the bandages. I am going to see if they can order me something....besides this regimen. talk to you later. JF

    good morning ladies,

I posted last night but accidentally right clicked and it deleted just as I finished. The therapist called and got me in last night at 5:00 instead of today. Got home around 7. Went to Cracker Barrel with kids. She said that we normally have around 24 nodes per arm so since I had all but about 3 removed, no wonder my plumbing is so messed up. She is going to check to see if insurance will pay for a home machine for me to use, especially since I live alone with no help with the massaging etc. She is setting me up for therapy soon. My right arm is 25% bigger than the left which is considered moderate. Well, I have lots to do today. You all have a good one.
