I was able to watch several hours of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral today. It was quite moving. So much pomp and circumstance, such pageantry and precision, all done remarkably without a hitch. To add to it all, the respectful throngs and throngs and throngs of people lining miles and miles of roads as the Queen made her final journey, everyone on their best behavior. What an amazing send off. Rest in peace, Queen Elizabeth.

If, like a Cherokee warrior, I can look at the new day as an opportunity to stand on new ground, then strength and courage are on my side. I will remember that things do work out, bodies do heal, relationships mend-- not because I said it, but because I believe it. But it is time to make things right, to stay on the path. As water runs fresh and free from the woodland spring, so new life and meaning will bubble up from my own inner source. I will be still and steady, because there is nothing to be gained by showing fear in a chaotic world. -Joyce Sequichie Hifler

I'll celebrate after he actually ( do they ever ) gets penalysed. But then who knows, maybe the penalty will be something good like losing his re-election.

Truly amazing Ruth. I was gone to Marion V.A. so only got to see a slight bit before I had to leave. Very special event. She deserved the grand sent-off. I wish King Charles well.

    The Bitchy Pundit

I'm a political junkie, which keeps me in a constant state of agitation. This would make me a masochist if it weren't for the fact that I was born bitchy. Following politics just allows me to share my natural gift with the public in a more focused way than would otherwise be possible.

    Indicting Trump

    September 20, 2022 by

I know that democrats have been chomping at the bit to see Trump indicted. I also know that most of you are watching each new development in the multiple investigations into Trump's crimes and telling yourselves, "this is it!" I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't believe that Trump is ever going to be indicted for a damned thing by the federal government (more on that later).

I understand how good it feels to believe that he's going to end up in prison. Believe me, I understand but I believe it's a fantasy. A lovely fantasy, but a fantasy nonetheless. Many a meme perpetuating this fantasy can be found on my Facebook page. I've started to realize that not making it clear that these posts are happy place fantasies is antithetical to what I'm trying to do here. When I started this brand, my goal was (and is) to get people to think about politics in a completely different way than the way they've been thinking about it for the past 40 years. Politics is not sports. You don't pick a team and stick with that team through thick and thin. What we've gotten with that approach is that corporate bank accounts have gotten thick, while yours has gotten thin.

This happened because virtually no politician is fighting for you, and it's time that we all realized that so that we can make more meaningful choices in order to undo everything that has been done really, since Reagan.

Perpetuating this fantasy about Trump being locked up suggests that democrats are going to do something about it, which simply isn't believable if you divorce yourself from that team mentality and apply a basic tenet of life that everyone on the planet knows to be true: follow the money.

This shouldn't be difficult to work through since the Roe decision just happened. Democrats never bothered to codify Roe into law for one primary reason: it's an issue that they fundraise on heavily. You can tell yourself all the sweet little lies you want to make democrats the "good guys" on this, but they're not true. Democrats had two chances to make it happen. That's a fact. But they wanted to keep fundraising on Roe and to get elected on the basis of being champions of women's reproductive rights. Don't believe me. Believe your own lying eyes:

I know that fantasies are more fun and probably better for your short term mental health, but it's time to stop the fantasizing because those fantasies have become toxic to your own self interests.

Nancy Pelosi made it clear where democrats stand on prosecuting people in power when she didn't want to "look back" at W's crimes. That's where they stand ideologically.

In terms of where their motivations lie, it's clear in the tens of thousands of fundraising emails that we've all gotten on the basis of "getting Trump". Do you honestly believe that democrats are going to take that gravy train off the tracks? Really?

If democrats were serious about indicting Trump, they would have put handcuffs on more than just one person who ignored their copious subpoenas. They would have made an effort to motivate Trump's allies to show up by making it clear that there's a jail cell waiting for anyone who doesn't show up, and that they can plan to occupy that cell until they're ready to appear before their committees. Putting one person in handcuffs for ignoring a subpoena after several people had already done it is purely performative, and you know it.

If you divorce yourself from your team mentality, you know that what I'm saying is true because you've witnessed it with your own eyes. It's time to stop with the fantasies and start making electoral decisions by following the money like your life and livelihood depend on it because they do.

The only caveat to this might be Georgia. It's possible they might go rogue and hand down an indictment, but I really don't see this happening on a federal level. If it happens, I'd be elated to eat crow and profess how very wrong I was.

I'm not saying that you won't see fantastical and fun memes about Trump being locked up on my Facebook page. They're fun. But I do pledge to make it clear that these are fantasies of a perfect world, just like Law and Order is a fantasy of a functional justice system and West Wing is a fantasy about how government should work. I watch both, but only because I like to fantasize in order to ease the angst of reality.

https://bit.ly/3S1abTJ This is a shortened link but won't open for me. I hope it opens for you. It is a pretty thought provoking article by the Bitchy Pundit. To briefly state -- she does not think Trump will in the end actually get TIME for his federal issues although she does wonder about some of the Georgia issues. It caught my eye because we have all waited soooo long for justice and so far if it happens it seems to be ( where Trump and his near and dear co-horts ) rather minimal.

It I read the article right I had the impression that maybe rather than jail time he would be broke and disgraced in that way. I can't deny with someone having such a deep obsession with money, being broke might be just as good as being in jail, where Trump is concerned. Then again, I do wonder as it seems to me he has soo flaunted the system, that perhaps he could end up with a number of penalities aside from jail time. Having his whole time in office prettty much nullified, and stripped of any and all benefits.

I've also wondered with his deep mental flaws if he could ever truly appreciate jail time anyway. I do feel that worse would be losing the attentions he has been paid to date ( so many of those by the Reps. party ) as well as money and of course becoming infamous, rather than famous. I see jail time as more a deterrent for others and some of that is happening with those who are being tried, convicted and sent to jail from the 1/6 events. This does indeed seem like the reason why Trump is suddenly seeming to give Q-a Non signals that he needs them. Proud Boys and others like them ( many still out there ) are not being so loudly active and may not be for some time. It does seem Trump is having to go to the real "crazies" for some help now. Not sure it bodes so well for him. I can't believe that he isn't upsetting the Reps. who he has made so chaotic it is possible they won't do too well in the up-coming election. Of course, it seems that way. We all know polls and other things can be deceptive, so all is with a grain of salt. I will say though it certainly seems that Trump is working overtime for himself which tends to mean not trying to help his Reps. comrades at all. He just threw J.D. Vance uner the bus big time in his Ohio rally. Was supposed to be for Vance and Orange Guy all but said Vance had his head up Trumps badside. The implication was that at least Vance wan't alone in that. Talk about narcissism. It was on full display.

BY THE WAY: I did try and copy the piece and an Obama video piece seemed to have attached itself and I could not figure how to get it erased. I usually am able to.

I took the long road, but did get it in just in case the link didn't work. I should point out that I don't necessarily agree with everything she ( Bitchy Pundit ) had to say, but I did find the piece highly provoking and worth some thought since I have spent so much time hearing " anyone else would be in handcuffs and marched to a cell " with the indication Trump has and continues to get a certain amt. of special treatment -- none of which in my estimaation he is entitled to.

It sometimes is hard to wait for things, and already if what I read is even close to true, nothing much will happen to anyone until after the election now that we are this close. It is maddening in a way -- when guilt could not be any plainer to find and see. Sure seems though that federally speaking something needs to happen over the classified docs. fiasco.

Cannot believe the posting I did earlier in response to ruthbru's post about number of people who watched the Queen's funeral is not here. The idiot has already posted that if he were in attendance his seat would have been better than Biden's. Fact check: 1. he was not invited; 2. his seat in either FL or NJ is much further back than Biden's and 3. neither his inauguration or any of his rallies were ever able to garner an audience like this. She was beloved by many for her dedication to service and ability to work with people over 70 years. He could not touch her record with his 4 disgraceful years. What an a**hat. Hope this one makes it.

Ruth, the number of views for the Queen's funeral is staggering and yet in a way not surprising when it is said that 90% of the world's population has only known her as the head of the monarchy their whole lives. And just look at the photo you posted. Such pageantry! Such respect and homage paid to the Queen! We were all suspended in the atmosphere of their world for several days as she was laid to rest, allowing the magnitude of her influence to soak in.

As for the former guy who was not invited, I am quite certain the Royal Family members felt amazingly good about not inviting him. As in, high fives and secret handshakes and big giddy smiles all around. Who needs that shitstorm raining on their reign? The Royals have more class and refinement in their baby toenail than that orange clown will ever have. It was probably the Queen's first order of business to put him immediately on her “do not invite" funeral plans the minute she got done meeting him for the first time. I was thrilled he got the brush-off, cold shoulder, frozen out, snubbed.

Ruth, loved that meme from Vonnegut. In the light of the Orange guy having to insinuate that had he chosen to show up for the Queen's funeral he would have been given what ---- an almost front row seat. I was astounded since the information was new to me. Somehow I'm not surprised at all. Orange guy will never give anyone any due for anyrhing. I would imagine the Queen felt about Trump much like the elite of Mahattan and other places felt about him, likely even more so I think she put off having him visit as long as she could and bravely and quietly sufferred his crudeness knowing beforehand that it would likely happen. I'm sure she would have preferred not having to have the audience with him at all. She kept her dignity and stature through the ordeals though. They are most definitely from different worlds period.

Something about Queen Elizabeth I wanted to mention is that as she aged and became a grandmother, she always reminded me of my own mom. Of course, my mom never dressed fancy like Elizabeth and wasn’t English, but she was short in stature like the Queen and built like her with that slight hunch of the shoulders. Mom’s hair was similar in color and style and even her facial features were similar. And as my mom aged, she never rushed around but sort of moved like the Queen..It’s been 25 years since my mom passed away and I think of her every day. Our relationship was complicated for many reasons but there was always love. Queen Elizabeth’s funeral made me think of her even more than usual.

Now that you mention it, she reminds me of my mom too. Same hairdo, soft skin, purse, a twinkle in her eye, and a combination of kindness & no nonsense. My mom has been gone almost 20 years, which seems like yesterday and forever both. Maybe that's why the queen was so popular, she reminded peopel of their own moms.

A heightened state of awareness comes when we look, and then look again, and then relax into whatever situation we are in. When we have a capacity for fascination with simple things, we are able to sit peacefully for hours on a park bench, or in an airport, engrossed by the different gaits and gestures of people as they walk, talk, and stand. We develop the ability to be patient as we stand in line at the grocery store because we have the ability to look with fascination and wonder at all that surrounds us.

Mothers are definitely special and I truly believe that as we age we become a lot like our own mothers. As for my mom who has been gone 24 yrs. while I think of her in some way almost daily, my thoughts always bring joy and contentment. Like most, there were some points of disagreements but they weren't truly negative to the relationship. I find myself always hoping to be able to embody all the wonderful things about her that made her so special in my eyes and definitely a little better than anyone else's mother, know that last statement is relative.

I feel much the same way about my Dad. Can't imagine having any other one and the memmories of him are special and comforting as well. Often seeming harsh, but a soft spot ( if you knew where to look as he hid it well ) a mile wide.

Perhaps he should keep the money. Tish James is now bringing suit against him for his business practices and she has a lot of VERY tough evidences. Not to say he can't squeak out, but I hope not. I hope she does great financial upheaval to him. No one deserves it more. The chickens are starting to roost. Interesting as well that he will now have this too, to have to deal with in addition to his MaraLago " storage " of documents issue.

Doesn't sound like he is going to fare too well with Judge Dearie. There is that roost again.
