I don't put many political comments on my Facebook page, but I did put a similar one about the U.S. not being founded on Christianity. That we are a nation founded on religious freedom.

This year I seemed to run in to the same thing over and over: various women my age or slightly older pressuring me to attend their church services, join in prayer circles, attend screenings of religious movies, etc. What is it about Christians that they are so uncomfortable with people having different views on spirituality? I don't ask them to switch their belief system to mine. They need to offer me the same kind of respect. I've brought up this topic on the atheist thread. Some Christians want me to change, to conform, in order to fit in with the way they think. But true belonging is about being accepted for who you are. Take me as I am or forget it. (I've been reading a lot of Brené Brown lately).

As a non-Christian, I ask myself this question daily. I simply don’t understand but if you, raised as Christian, don’t understand either then I’m truly baffled! I am not an atheist but my religion doesn’t seek converts so I am left scratching my head. I definitely fall on the live and let live side of things.

I'm definitely the take me or leave me type. I'm spiritual, not religious. I believe REASONABLE ( meaning no Jim Jones types ) religions are fine for those who wish to partake. I don't wish to be invited though. If I feel some interest ( which would be unusual ) I would ask a friend if they would mind if I visited their Church on Sunday or Saturday or whatever day or night. I do think many religions encourage their parishioners to ask friends and family ( especially if they don't partake ) to come to Church. I detest being asked and will say no thanks.

First, one time wouldn't show me much. Also I do have a feeling that people can choose their religion experiences based on odd reasons. One of my friends, being black, did not go to the "black" Church here in town. She said their services were too long -- so she visited a few churches around town and chose after that. I presume she was looking for the one that took the shortest time. I don't choose anything based on length of time or sermon.

Finally, I think some people benefit by a 'structered' experience with other like-minded people and that doesn't interest me. I don't need a special time, or building, or others to give me a 'boost'. I have been there, done that, and while I likely share a lot perhaps of what those people may feel ( have to guess here ) I transcended many parts of the expirience for something that feels closer and more honest for me. I don't have to comform to time, place or anything else and can have "religious" times all the time. Just lookikng out the window and seeing 8 or 10 deer in the yard, or watching the sun come up, or seeing a good rain and being able to imagine the clean smell afterwards -- lifts me up. Nature is more of a natural church for me and one that is more comfortable. Still, I am happy for my friends who feel like they need a structure and other people and a pastor to call their own. If each supports the other I'm all for it as long as they are fine with how I care for my religious/spiritual life.

I try to be respectful of everyone’s beliefs or lack of regarding religion. Several years ago I became very irritated by the Saturday morning door knockers who always wanted to “Share the good news of Jesus Christ” with me. After politely telling them I wasn’t interested, they tried to push some literature on me. I politely refused and made the grave mistake of mentioning I was Jewish. Their eyes lit up! A potential convert ripe for the picking! Sigh… and slamming the door shut was my only recourse. Rude but necessary. After a few more visits where I did not open the door but instead howled, shouted demonic phrases and generally acted like something out of The Exorcist, my problem was solved 😂. Yup, I had to behave in a most obnoxious manner to get rid of them since politely stating my position was completely ignored. I seriously don’t understand proselytizing at all.

Joel Olsteen is one of my favorite hypocrite to pick on. He infamously said the city didn’t ask his church to provide shelter. He lied and said his church was flooded and couldn’t provide support. He’s preys on the poor in his community and gives nothing back.

Sorry I'm late to this thread (really hard to keep up), but have been busy dealing with basement flood aftermath (of course, nothing compared to what KY, Jackson MS, coastal AK and now PR and DR/Haiti suffered & are going through), preparing for Fri's Madison gig (went well) and watching CLE videos--21.5 hr down, 9.5 to go. The retrospective on the 2019-20 SCOTUS term was awkward, since the atty. presenting it (an acquaintance of mine) got his predictions 180 degrees wrong. (He taped it after the 2020 & 2021 reporting periods, while RGB was alive & kicking, 45 was still turning the Oval Office into the Oval Orifice, and Breyer had yet to retire).

Pissed that Cannon agreed to appoint a special master and refused to lift her stop-the-investigation order, but happy that she at least picked a guy both sides could agree on has no political baggage, and is an expert on white-collar crime and national security cases--instead of the inexperienced MAGA moron with the Drumpf-appointed wife. Glad that the DOJ appealed, but have some trepidation it might backfire if it gets to SCOTUS which might hold that Presidents are above the law.

Well, whom on that side lately even knows how? I do think some are catching on to the precarious postions that the orange fool has handily helped them get to and are having a thought or two. Or would that be a bit of panic stuck into some of their general confusion about how to keep the maga people without actually going along with Dumpity Trump.

They are not listening to well to McConnell these days either. They are in strong dis-array so I would expect to hear a couple of decent ideas come out of Fox. Believing tghey really mean it will be much harder.
