And so it goes:
Trump PAC claiming to be 'election defense fund' paid $60,000 to Melania Trump designer
Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Federal Elections Commission filings show former President Donald Trump's Save America PAC, claiming to be an "election defense fund, paid $60,000 to a fashion designer for Melania Trump.

The FCC filings show four payments to Herve Pierre Braillard, allegedly for "strategy consulting." Three payments of $18,000 each were disbursed from the Trump PAC in May and June of 2022. A $6,000 payment was made in April.
"Mr. Pierre serves as a senior adviser to Save America, involved in event management and special projects," said Taylor Budowich, a senior official with Save America.
The Trump PAC has raised more than $100 million, in part through emails claiming the money would go to an "Official Election Defense Fund."
But according to investigative counsel for the Jan. 6 committee investigating a pro-Trump mob's violent attack on the U.S. Capitol, that election defense fund never existed.
Two former Trump aides testified during the committee hearings that an election defense fund never existed and was just a marketing tactic.
According to USA Today, Braillard is a French-American New York-based designer that has worked with Melania Trump, as well as First Ladies Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush.

Once a thief, always a thief as in the above. He learned it from his father, but I think he pulled it out of his genes with extraordinary ease. As difficult as life sometimes can be, I have to say I'm grateful for my ability ro empathize with those who have a hard row to hoe. I know everyone here, pretty much to whatever degree feels the same. In fact, I can't imagine for one second not caring -- unless you want me to imagine the orange loser going to jail and losing all his money, while he still has enough brain cells left to know it is happening. Now that I can imagine -- though I can't imagine those who don't feel integrity and honesty. I just can't.
Anyway, I'm glad it is the week-end and things are slowing. I'm still vacationing a little from the news ( at least the all day cable news ). I want to keep up and not be too surprised at anything, but I need to be kind to myself and quit allowing hours of bombardment. Mainly as I find so much of it auful since those who should be in jail are not yet. I do feel it is coming -- and I know I need to find patience -- but until decent things happen -- like some of the lawbreakers going to jail or an election all of us here can be very happy about, I'm needing a little break.

Arizona GOP Hands Democrats A Gigantic Gift In Blake Masters
Arizona's purple voters may hold the key to the majority of the 2022 Senate. NASA handed Mark Kelly the keys to the space shuttle. Many suburban, educated women wouldn't hand Masters the key to their van.

Guess who has two thumbs and got fired without cause? This gal!!
I went in for my regular work shift, and Dan, our franchise owner, was waiting for me. This is a man who loves his own voice and will monolog for an hour. Instead of chatting, he literally read a prepared statement from a piece of paper. He informed me that he was invoking his "at will" status and my employment was terminated immediately. I asked if any clients had complained about me, and he reiterated, "We don't need to answer that, we're invoking our at will status." I am a highly in-demand therapist (my clients have booked with me all the way to the end of the year, and I usually booked solid for 4-6 weeks out), I am very respected among my peers, I have never been disciplined or reprimanded, we are not over-staffed (in fact, we are desperate to hire additional MTs), and our studio is not going bankrupt (we're the second most profitable studio among the 7 studios that Dan owns).
The only reason he would fire me is to retaliate against me for organizing and for helping my coworkers submit claims for unpaid wages with the Dept of Labor. Both of those are protected activities and I cannot be legally fired for them. I'm so thankful that we are under union protection now. Their legal dept has already started preparing my wrongful termination claim with the NLRB. Our organizer has moved up our filing to this weekend instead of next week. We are primed to vote in the union and protect our studio from assholes who think they can do whatever they want to whomever they want.

All the things that disgust Reps.
-
miriandra I am so dumbstruck over this. I'm wondering who helped your franchise owner decide he could and SHOULD do this. Of course, I feel he doesn't have much of a way to justify this and that hopefully will easily come out over and with your UNION help. I too am sooo glad that you have them to back you up. Just flumoxed. You'll be on my mind for some time.
-
Oh miriandra, that is awful! What a bunch of scumbags! So glad you will have the union in your corner!
-
As rough as it is to get through, they're in lock-step with the standard union-busting playbook. First they fire the people they see as the ringleaders (ie. me, and potentially one of my other therapists), then they'll make a big show of generosity to the rest of the team (a big pizza party, "If you need anything - anything at all - you let me know, and I'll make sure you're taken care of."), platitudes for how great the team is and how unions aren't needed. They've probably underestimated how advanced our union planning is. My termination has galvanized the studio.
All things considered, I'm glad it happened to me and not another therapist. Because of my DH's job, I'm probably one of the best situated to absorb this hit.
Also, I fought cancer, little man. What makes you think I'm afraid of fighting you?
-
Love your spirit miriandra. A winning one. Big hugs.
-
miriandra - unbelievable that Dan would pull this from the union busting play book and wrongfully terminate your employment. I hope you’re able to bounce back quickly, and still unionize the massage studio despite Dan’s efforts. Sending you virtual hugs.
-
miriandra, wow, it’s stunning how much control employers want to have over employees and the lengths they go to to get it and/or try to keep it. I’m sorry you have to go through all this. At least it is galvanizing the others, as you say, and I wish you all the best with unionizing the therapists.

As you take a few minutes each day to quiet your mind, you will discover a nice benefit: your everyday, "ordinary" life will begin to seem far more extraordinary. Little things that previously went unnoticed will begin to please you. You'll be more easily satisfied, and happier all around. Rather than focusing on what's wrong with your life, you'll find yourself thinking about and more fully enjoying what's right with your life. The world won't change, but your perception of it will. You'll start to notice the little acts of kindness and caring from other people rather than the negativity and anger.
