Pupmom, congrats on you Kansans holding the line tonight!
And despite the GQP's blather about "budget tricks," the PACT Act finally passed today, overwhelmingly.
-
Thank you, Jon Stewart! My DH has two burn-pit exposures listed in his medical records.
-
WE DID IT! I'm over the moon this morning about how Kansans came together to protect reproductive rights! High fives to all my sisters in arms!!

pupmom, good for you and your state of Kansas! A state that went for Trump by fifteen points.
CNN: “The biggest warning to Republicans, many of whom have trumpeted the overturning of Roe and backed pushes to pass stricter abortions laws, is perhaps the turnout in Kansas. With 78% of the vote in on Tuesday night, nearly 700,000 people have cast ballots in the primary, a figure that already dwarfs the turnout in the 2020 presidential primary election.
"This is further proof of what poll after poll has told us: Americans support abortion rights," said Christina Reynolds, a top operative for Emily's List, an organization that looks to elect women who support abortion rights. "They believe we should be able to make our own health care decisions, and they will vote accordingly, even in the face of misleading campaigns."
Great to hear of the passage of the PACT Act, too. -
We restore the holiness of the world through our loving-kindness and compassion. Everyone participates. It is a collective task. Every act of loving-kindness, no matter how great or small, repairs the world. All those ever born have shared this collective work since the beginning of time.

Cheering too for the Kansas victory on reproductive rights. I would guess this might make at least some of the Reps. have a second thought or two. In the long run though, they do seem hell bent to continue to be Trumpian in nature. I'm not sure I'll ever understand or get over how they perceive taking things away is the way to survive in elections.
Not totally surprised then about the Pact Act. At some point even the Trumpian people have to see that way too much negative ( backlash ) feeling is coming for them. A bit surprizing they keep making their foolish choices. They have Reps. soldiers and plenty of women as well that they leave under the Reps. bus wheels as well, when they behave as they do. I'll just keep hoping that they continue on now which will be our best opportunity in the up-coming elections. If they ( the R's ) don't do quite as well in '22 as they think, it will be interesting to see any 'adjustments' for the '24 go-rounds.
-
Yeah for the women in Kansas who stood up and were heard! Now we need to get other states willing to do the same and thumb their noses at the SC and its puppet justices.
-
Betrayal, I think other states will follow suit. Ruby red KS showed it CAN be done!
-
Great news about Kansas and the passing of the PACT Act. -
Ha! Dorothy's slippers are turning blue!

Love it, pupmom!

Every person who believes in a woman's right to choose, every person who believes that veterans should get the health care they need, every person who is horrified by the events of January 6th, MUST get themselves and their likeminded friends to the poll this and every November!!
-
I think the reason that Repubs & their voters continue to tolerate (even champion) the erosion of rights is because they believe it will impact only the "other," whom they hate. So long as we "libs" get "owned," they're happy. How else to explain about-faces on bills they'd supported after each Dem. legislative victory? It's all about teams, tribalism, & the game--not about the effect on actual people.
-
Sadly that sounds about right Sandy. Eating your own, no salt or pepp0er required.
-
"It's all about teams, tribalism, & the game--not about the effect on actual people." And that's why I HATE them!

-
Sandy, sadly I agree with you.
-
The Trump-backed candidates who won last night in AZ & MI shouldn't rest on their laurels, because independents and even the majority of GOP-registered voters did not vote for them, nor even turned out in the primaries. Nov. will be different (I hope).
But the DCCC and DSCC should concentrate not on the unwinnable GQP races (Boebert & MTG's districts are packed with bigoted ignorant morons) but on the tight ones--especially Red seats (at the state level too) they can flip to Blue. Focus on the threats to liberty & voting rights, not on personalities. Idiots will vote for their own.

Alex Jones' Lawyers Accidentally Leak Years of Texts and Emails About Sandy Hook
I love the smell of schadenfreud in the morning.
-
Yes, yes. That lovely wafting odor.
-
A bit off the beaten track right now, but I just ran into it looking for something else.
-
I almost never wish bad things on others but Alex Jones is so loathsome and despicable that my overactive imagination is coming up with things that would give medieval torture a run for its money.
