New Platform Requests
Comments
-
What would you like to see in the new platform to make it easier to use?
-
Larger font in posts- Larger font in topic titles in lists of topics
- More distinctive bold
- Darker, larger font in private message text box
- Less glaring white background
- Unbury Sign Out button
- Increase rows per page from 10 to 30
- Allow uppercase back in our usernames
-
I would like the “search username” functo search for partial spellings. Sometimes I’m looking for someone and don’t remember which numbers in the name, and a partial spelling returns nothing.
-
Definitely the improved search. I'd like an option to stay logged in, or, if I have to log in, to not have it be so many steps. And increase the number of threads shown in the forum contents.
-
Tone down and relocate that extremely prominent bright red "donate" button. It's tacky and gauche.
Also, get rid of those creepy offensive boob logos.
Have a feature that allows for routine input and comments from the discussion board membership about the services currently offered by BCO and future direction plans and ideas - and pay heed to it.
I also second all the requests above!
-
Unlike others, I hope the white background remains. Many studies show it is easier on eyes. I prefer the white background.
I would like to be able to “save” a post because it is nearly impossible to find a year old post when you need it. So many people post great tips but I don’t need the info at the time. Then treatments change and I VAGUELY remember reading something 6 months ago about a medication or SE tip. Try finding that using the current Search tool. Ha ha ha. Maybe Save a Post isn’t exactly the right description. Maybe be something like marking a thread as a favorite, we could make a specific post as “important”
-
I’m not against the white background, but I need to reduce brightness because it strains my eyes.
-
Bold and different sized fonts with an array of shading against a white background might help, but just the stark white background is not at all good. I don't know what the population is in the studies that show a white background as preferable, but I wonder how many older and disabled people they included. White might be generally OK for the general population (and even then you need legible font), but many of the members of this discussion board, do not fit that definition.
-
Improved search and the ability to QUOTE SOMEONE in a reply. Get rid of all the white space and the creepy new logos.
-
The ability to like threads and individual posts
-
Serenitystat - Thanks for creating this thread. It is interesting to see what other people are thinking and it is wonderful to have a place where the members of the board can express their thoughts and ideas, and make suggestions. I hope the BCO powers that be, take what they read on here seriously and to heart.
-
ThreeTree - 😎 I started the thread on a lark to check if we lost the capability to create new topics as another member had trouble yesterday. Hope BCO will consider many of the suggestions.
-
Yes, I would love to be able to stay logged in - or at least make it more obvious when I am logged out so I even know to log back in before I visit threads.
Yes also to saving posts and improving the search functionality.

I support most everyone's suggestions. I do want a readable font size and bold text in the discussion threads and private messages. White background is not the issue, but the amount of white background makes it glare and with the current faint gray text, it becomes almost impossible to read. What I don't want to have happen again, like it did a few years ago, is that the white space is replaced with ads and even more tracking tools!!!!!
Very definitely the "catfish" looking, offensive graphics have got to go. Stop asking me every time if I want to fill out my profile and "recommendations." I will never provide you more tracking data. My initial account registration certainly is enough to stop asking me. Logout needs to return to the top of each page. I will never remain logged in. One issue I'd like to see improved is that links in a thread open a new browser window instead of going in and out of BCO.
Seems that each browser, phone, and/or tablet is not being accommodated with the current coding. I know I only see a tiny icon and not many of the graphics people post. I've found that Edge browser does not like some of the graphics but operates faster than Chrome.
When will this replatforming happen? It's been quite some weeks since they admitted this was coming, but still no timeline????? If this has been planned for over 4 years, please explain why we've spent over 3 months trying to cope with this fiasco??
Ideally, BCO leadership needs to include our desires for a workable platform and implement as quickly as possible. Experience tells me they will again ignore us as they've done in the past. Perhaps they can replatform themselves!!
Wouldn't it be great to return to the minor issues we had before March 1, and actually get back to helping newcomers and building relationships, and welcoming back those who have been so disenfranchised they have left??!!!! BCO step up and fulfill your mission statement.

Have a separate section where the moderators post their "news" and "articles". These should not be mixed in with discussion board members posts to and for each other.
-
threetree--that is an EXCELLENT suggestion. I had to put the moderators on ignore so I don't have to sift through that stuff.
-
BCO, and the mods, already have their "half" of the BCO website in the "Learn" section. I'm not sure why they feel the need to repost their information on the "community" threads other than to try to increase thread traffic. If they really wanted to share information, they would fix the "search" feature and people who did want additional information could find it.
