So true Divine. Painfully true. As a nation we are allowed to say what we want but politicians, corporations, and their lobbyists choose what we MIGHT get, if anything. Someone gets happy, but more often it is them, not us.

Be grateful simply for being alive. When you are grateful for life, pure and simple, your life becomes one you can be grateful for. That may strike you as circular or even backward logic, but your attitude really does have an effect on how things work out. When you can't change your life any other way, you can still change your attitude. When you do, your life changes. You find more chances to love, and you will be surprised to see how much more love is returned to you. -Bernie Siegel

Wow, that is sickening, cardplayer.

There has been another shooting in Tulsa at a Saint Francis Hospital and Health Center. There is not a lot of information yet -- they haven't identified the shooter whom I think is dead, so it won't be known for a while WHY. One of my first thoughts was the shooter wanted his 'fame' to begin. He too heard almost nothing the last few days ( if he was listening to the news ) about the Uvalde shooter. That was must a thought that popped into my head and may be the farthest thing from the truth of ever. It took place in one of the buildings that dealt with ?? cancer maybe --- Women's Breast Center and also same day surgeries were done there. Seems to have been the only part of the complex that was involved.
People really are tired of this and actually -- while I pray the shootings stop -- while they go on the pressure to get something done will continue. It should have taken place after Newtown -- and I really thought it would. I was so wrong. Time is long past now. People are paying for the Reps. to have their way and they are paying with their and their children's lives. So un-called for and so very un-fair.

Here is another view point of the 2nd' amendment as related to the Uvalde shooting.

A bit more about the shooting in Okla.
4 killed in shooting at Tulsa hospital; gunman also dead, police say
Police say a man armed with a rifle and a handgun was also dead after Wednesday's shooting at St. Francis Hospital.
June 1, 2022, 6:00 PM CDT / Updated June 1, 2022, 8:05 PM CDT
By Tim Stelloh and Lindsey Pipia
Four people were killed as a gunman opened fire inside an Oklahoma hospital Wednesday, authorities said.
The gunman, described as 35 to 40 years old and armed with a rifle and handgun, appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Tulsa Deputy Chief Eric Dalgleish told reporters.
Tulsa police Capt. Richard Meulenberg said the gunman fired that shot as officers were kicking in a stairwell door to gain access to the Tulsa medical building where the gunfire erupted.
As many as 10 people could have been wounded in the shooting, Meulenberg said. No injuries were considered life-threatening, he said.
The shooting occurred shortly before 5 p.m. inside the Natalie Building at St. Francis Hospital, authorities said. The victims, whose identities have not been released, appeared to be a combination of patients and employees, Dalgleish said.
Part of the shooting appears to have occurred inside an orthopedic facility on the building's second floor, Dalgleish said.
The gunman and his motive have not been identified.

Creative gratitude is an attitude. It is magnetic and will draw good to you. It is good therapy, a road to happiness. Thankfulness is a way of living more fully. Be thankful for your health and you will have health in more abundance. Be thankful for the love you receive and it will be increased. Be thankful for your success and you'll open doors to further achievement. Be thankful for your friends and more friends will come to you. Be thankful for beauty and you'll experience it more deeply. Creative gratitude is a force for harmony and goodwill. It brings people together in love and understanding. It is high on the scale of creative qualities to be practiced day in and day out in our moment-to-moment contacts. -Wilferd A. Peterson

Both great memes, cardplayer and mainly since they are oh so true. MTG is extremely dumb. Then again, I've had the feeling a time or two that she might be 'trying' to mislead. I mean, peach tree dish and petri dish are for the most part ( at least for me really HARD to confuse. The last one is very true and I guess Cruz and some of the other male members of the GOP are just VERY nuts to think more guns, given to people who have to outgun and disarm someone that even the police seemed afraid to tackle -- it is just ludicrous.
-
I guess I will have to write my idiot Senators & Representative again. You think that if you were in a 'safe seat', you might dare to do what is moral and right......sigh.

Here's the message that I just sent to my Senators and Representative. Feel free to use the Action List if you contact yours.
Sensible gun control regulations take NOTHING away from 'a well regulated militia'. As a former teacher who has been locked in a darkened classroom, crowded against a back wall with a group of frightened 6th graders during an active shooter lock-down (which, thank God, turned out to be a false alarm......but next time may not be), I beg you to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. Please, please support the following measures:
1.) Ban all assault rifles
2.) Require gun owners to register their guns
3.) Require gun owners to carry insurance
4.) If you have a restraining order or order of protection against you, you must give up your guns
5.) Universal background checks - even if you are gifting this to a relative
6.) Seven day waiting periods
7.) If you have an assault arrest, you must give up your guns
8.) Red Flag laws -

Ruth, that is a fantastic letter. I hope everyone uses it. I didn't do much here yesterday. I've felt a lot of negative feelings about the other side ( the Rethugs ) since Uvalde and its aftermath ) so I've held back a bit. I guess I'm a bit discouraged and depressed. Added with some exasperation and huge frustration over where the line is on this. The dichotomy of the Reps. wanting NO abortions -- so they can what -- let more children be harmed in schools.
Well, maybe I'll get my legs back under me, but I do feel weighted somewhat right now.

Just a thought:
-
What a guy!! I don’t give a flyfig about any pro sports team, but this is unreal.

Ruth: Fantastic letter. I hope it makes them think. However, until their families are directly impacted, they will not change. They interpret the Second Amendment just like they interpret the Bible, using only those words that they can manipulate to achieve their purpose and message. True Christians do not support the slaughter of innocents nor justify the use of the instruments of war used to slaughter them.
We had a "shelter in place" policy at the college that was a joke because all the doors had a glass panel in them, the faculty were placed either in the front of the room distant from the door or there was a long corridor into the rooms where the faculty was placed at the front of the room (meaning we were sitting ducks before we could dash to the door to lock it). They refused to install panic buttons for faculty use and suggested we could use our "private phones" (not to be used in classrooms) to contact our unarmed security. The classroom phone was either in the back of the classroom near the door or in the room with the corridor, in the middle of the corridor. So it seems the faculty or the students were sacrificial in whichever room you happened to be. Don't know who dreamed this plan up but it was a mandatory annual inservice that was a complete waste of time. We had many students who had behavioral and mental health issues that were never addressed because of their "rights" which had a negative impact on their fellow student's learning experience. We all dreaded that one of them would take it upon themselves to take their disgruntlement out on us.

Cardplayer -- it is an aguly thing that so MANY souls need to be sacrificed to the gun God and sundry other Reps. Totally disgusting before we even get to pain and heartache.

BREAKING NEWS
Peter Navarro, a White House adviser to Donald Trump, was charged with contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena from the Jan. 6 inquiry.
Friday, June 3, 2022 12:30 PM ET
Prosecutors said that Mr. Navarro, 72, was issued a subpoena by the House committee on Feb. 9, but failed to appear for a deposition or provide documents to congressional investigators.
The indictment charges him with two counts of contempt.
I would love to hope that Meadows and Scavino who are trying to weasel will have some second thoughts here but who knows. They have an Elliot Ness complex going on I think.

Navarro didn't get it for lying -- he ignored his 1/6 subpoena ( back from Feb. ) and didn't appear before the committee. Gohmert is so eager to pop the Democrats with some kind of wrong-doing that he grabbed whatever came to mind first just so he could strike. He is about as smart as those 'rocks', so very many of who reside right along with him on the Reps. side of the scale. They're all in a box.
