Good things do happen.

In the name of Reps. control, here we are.
We do have DNA now to identify the 'papa' which will at least get into the pockets of careless guys. Still, the Reps. are carrying through their long-range plans and that is as bad as it gets.
-
How it really is:
-
Please, please be true:

The almost non-stop news of Roe v Wade has been a bit hard to take. Still reeling a bit, but I do tire of what seems endless coverage while EVERYONE chips in their ideas. After a while it becomes overwhelming. Still, I do hope memes like the above are true -- and that people will stay highly inspired to go out in droves and vote.
The Reps. gave up on trying to win fair and square some time ago. Would have been great to have more recognition on this the moment Pres. Biden took over. I guess so much at the time was a pressing issue ( rampant covid and need of vaccines, as well as the jobs and economy. Not to mention being confined to homes etc. ) but I do hope we have all figured it out now. Playing nice will definitely no longer cut it. We need VERY serious fixes for the ills that are taking place.
I will admit that I find it daunting and scary -- seeing how far the Reps. got with a total bumbler in the Loon. Time to take care of this NOW.
-
Jackie, I agree about the non-stop the Roe v Wade news being overwhelming. It's heartbreaking but I could see it coming, actually saw it coming back when the orange thing was in the White House. I am not ever going to need an abortion but I see it as the beginning of men trying to clamp down more power over women.
I am very glad to read the fuckhead from Michigan lost his seat. Men like him are such disgusting pigs.

A follow up to the Mr M being called a racist story. A meeting was scheduled for yesterday with him, the building district manager (Dee) and the accuser Z. Someone from Adult Protective Services was supposed be present but she called and said she was sick.
So Dee spoke with Z, telling her to stay away from Mr M. She told Z she was not allowed to enter Mr M’s office. Mr M put a "no admittance" sign on his office door.
Dee also called Protective Services and told them to specifically instruct Z that she is to stay away from Mr M. The residents fill out a work order if their apt needs maintenance; Z can do that if something in her apt needs repaired, and Mr M will have someone go with him if he needs to fix anything. (All the apartments were remodeled three years ago, so repairs aren’t needed very often anyway.)
Dee thinks Z is bipolar. Yesterday Z was very nice. Z has a sister who lives in the next town but is away traveling, and Dee thinks that is throwing Z’s equilibrium off,
So for now, there seems to be a truce. If anything, Z has been harassing Mr M, and if she should start up again, Mr M himself may end up going to Protective Services and filing a report. Btw, he has been documenting everything in writing since this all started.
Thanks for listening!!
-
Good. He should continue to document every single thing, even "passed Z in hallway at 10am, she nodded at me & I at her (or we made no acknowledgement of each other,,,,whatever)".....if she does anything out of order, he should beat her to the punch & file a report himself.
-
-
divine - sounds like things are settling down with Z for now. Glad Mr. M is vigilant about dealing with her.

Many forced-birthers like to say, "Well, if she got pregnant, she made bad choices." The women's-health people will often reply, "She didn't choose to be raped." But while absolutely true, just opens the door for victim blaming - she shouldn't have been drunk, what was she wearing, why did she go there, etc. A stronger statement could be, "She didn't choose to have a baby with anencephaly," or "She didn't choose to have her baby embed in her fallopian tube instead of her uterus," or "She didn't choose to have HELLP syndrome." People forget that babies are more than just changes in lifestyle. They can bring on serious medical conditions that can be fatal to the woman, the fetus, or both.
As for the "lie back and enjoy it" comment, that also presumes that sex is inevitably enjoyable. This is not a given for women. Sex can be painful. It can be humiliating. In rape, enjoyment is not the goal. It's the power of forcing someone to do something that they don't want to do. By definition, if you don't want to do it, you won't enjoy it. Michigan is better off without that toxic bonehead in office. I do wonder how much acting his wife does, pretending to "enjoy" his attentions in bed.
-
It is good news that Mr. M is getting GOOD support from Dee and has his own action plan as to dealing with Z. Hopefully Z's sister won't be gone too long if she has been Z's stabilizer.
I read on the way here, apparently being able to post pics/memes etc. has been turned off for a bit. It was not mentioned what the actual problem was but only that some ? adjustments needed done. I hope we don't have to go too long as we all enjoy them so much here.
-
Just noticed my avatar is missing -- I think that is part of the pics that the mods were talking about -- so maybe that is how we will know when we are able to post again.
-
What the heck? Is that why the meme I posted this morning didn't go through? I noticed that it hadn't but hadn't had time to get back to it until now.
-
DivineMrsM: Glad you DH is getting support and protection from the allegations made by Z. It is so stressful to have to defend oneself against allegations that have no bearing on one's actions but are done from spite, mental health issues, etc. I hope your DH is feeling better now that he has support.
I don't know why we thought that the weasels on the SCOTUS that said they would not undo precedent told the truth. Look at who we are dealing with: 2 potential rapists, a Biblical wife and other odd balls all under the guise of being non-political players. Forked tongues never speak the truth. It is sad that we are going backwards instead of being the leader we used to be. Having witnessed the consequences of illegal abortions in the '60's and 70's, it is not something we want to arise again. Desperate women do desperate acts and end up maimed, sterile or dead. Their unwanted children also end up maimed, or dead. I saw many the child that bore the aftereffects of being an unwanted birth on our pediatric unit then. Many became institutionalized due to their birth defects, trauma events from their parents, etc.
As far as slapping Susan Collins, I think every mother who is denied an abortion should line up to slap her silly. She is one stupid woman and I am so sorry that she got to keep her office. I actually donated to her opponents coffers and don't regret it for a minute. Did the same for the 2 Dems in Georgia so we could get rid of the chicken man and the witch. That paid off. I'm not wealthy but will contribute what I can to those candidates I feel have a chance to support the Democratic ideals. Even small donations help.
-
Every unwanted baby born because an abortion was legally unavailable should be state-supported 100% for the first five years of its life. If they squawk over that, we'll know they're "pro-birth" (actually, anti-women-having-sex-for-enjoyment) rather than "pro-life." How can you be pro-life if you let an ectopic or blighted fetus go on the murder-suicide mission of sending its mother into fatal sepsis while it too dies? How "pro-life" is letting two lives literally be lost?
-
A quote from George Carlin -
"Boy, these conservatives are really something, aren't they? They're all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn. But once you're born, you're on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no daycare, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're f**ked”
-
And George Carlin has been gone for how long? Everything he said way back when is still true today! No progress whatsoever!

Couldn't agree more with George Carlin and others. Betrayal, I think we all had pause over the SC ( liars trying to get on ) hearings. Sadly, fears are now realized in fact. Well, one thing here to think about. It should be forever now pretty difficult to do such a buffalo job on people about your real intentions when you are testifying. That said -- with the way things are going now, the idea by the Reps. is likely that they won't need confirmations. If they are in POWER, they will just exert that power to have WHO they want and dissenting voices be damned. Why we need to fight back with a fierceness never before seen from the Democrats.
I hope we have learned that no Reps. wishes us well and far too many have not qualms in the least wresting everything they want, in any way they can. Fairness -- for them there is no such word. Fair is whatever they want period. So we need to take our blinders and our gloves off. I do think they ( the Reps. ) may have just un-leased a whirlwind not seeing that it has a great possibility of sucking them into it and not letting them out again. They may have given us our strength back ACCIDENTALLY. If it was someone from the right who actually leaked this thinking it was the right thing -- woe be unto you. Of course, the Reps. will try to find a way to make that person right for what they did -- so they don't have to help him leave the party too soon. Tangled webs. AT least we have the fact that due to the Loon, the Reps are deep into horrid mis-steps which they seem completely un-able to avoid. I say MAY THE CONTINUE ON IN DROVES.
-
Forgot to add in my above post -- that we would maybe know when the mods have turned memes, pics, avatars back on when we see our avatars showing back up here. I for one would like to know why they though this step was so necessary?? Someone complaining over something they saw ??? Seems to me I recall a time when some people ( not for sure it REALLY happened that way ) wandered onto some threads where they took exception to some of the postings. So, I'd like to really know if this is the case as to why ALL are penalized.
Of course, seems to me, one could work with the person complaining and the person they are complaining about and not involve EVERYONE at the same time, but have to admit I don't understand the computerized workings of blogs or anything having to do with electronic communications -- no matter the device.

-
Hmmm I say. Unless the above is taken out at some point after I log completely out -- there is a meme here. Maybe I'm seeing it while others are just getting the little box.. We shall see. No pun intended.
-
The justices didn't necessarily lie when asked about Roe V Wade during their confirmation hearings. They used language like 'It's the law of the land' or 'It's settled as precedent of the Supreme Court' or ' Roe v Wade clearly held that the constitution protected a womens right to terminate a pregnancy'. Lawyer double talk. Disheartening.

Did you catch 60 Minutes last Sunday and the segment on Birds Aren’t Real? It’s a satirical conspiracy theory that says birds are actually drones run by the US government. It’s shows how something far fetched can become “fact”. The young people who run it, stay in character and have quite a following.
-
Kavanaugh's face did come through.....not necessarily a good thing. 🥴
-
cardplayer,
I did see that and it’s both very funny and scarily sad. Excuse now while I get my slingshot to shoot down some drones. Oops, I mean birds 😂

Cardplayer!!

An aside speaks about how much this one doesn't realize how much he is setting himself up for use and possible later abuse. That pepsodent smile could really disappear later.
