Wrenn, the same thing JUST happened to me. Having to copy & paste everything to my Notes app is a royal pain--and then so is having to delete the Note if my post is successful....which is an utter crapshoot. It's been almost 2 months now--the site should have gotten its shit together. I have the sinking feeling that the code for the old "skin" has been deleted so that we can't revive "BCO Classic."

Personally, I enjoyed the old color scheme and layout and found it very readable and functional. I wouldn't have minded if the color had been toned down a bit or even better, if folks had been give a choice of color schemes. I despise the black-and-white look: sterile, boring, harsh, eye-straining, and unwelcoming. I also despise the new layout (in Chrome on my laptop), which wastes an incredible amount of space (though it's less wasteful if I resize it to an unnatural size) and results in ridiculous amounts of scrolling.

The moderators have been polite and patient and they respond to reports about glitches, but we have not heard even the slightest hint that the new aesthetic will be re-thought (aside from making the unreadable gray font a bit darker). It goes without saying that the obvious bugs should be addressed. But I think most people posting here are frustrated that on top of the technical fiasco of this so-called "upgrade," the user experience has been severely degraded by the "fresh new look" and there is no sign of a possible return to the "Classic Coke" scheme or at least something closer.

I do hope the moderators are at least informing the management that the vast bulk of users are unhappy with the new look. I think we all assume that they are and I think a lot of frustration on this board stems from a near-complete (modulo the darker font) lack of response to that.

Has anyone else wondered if the change in the number of active topics from within 24 hrs/30 per page to 5 days/10 per page is to hide the huge decrease in posting activity? Hide from management or big donors? A screen shot with 1-2 pages of posts doesn't look appealing. Before the redesign we had 3-6 pages of posts in 24 hours.

Unless there's been a magic cancer cure, there's a significant drop of posters due to the site problems.

Serenity, When we had a functioning site I couldn't keep up with posts and had to just rely on getting through my favourites and even then there was a lot to read. I can easily cover new posts on any category now because there is so little to read.

Also, remember the days of the newbie fights? Where are the newbies?

So I've only been checking into a few places lately. Wrenn, you're right about fewer newbies - I've only seen a few lately.

Well, here's a new one. I was still logged on and reading some posts when I got a dingaling showing a new private message. I went to the menu but there wasn't one showing. Then I had to log in AGAIN to get the message. What a pile of steaming 🐎💩.

In any case, I think you are missing the big picture. The concerns go way beyond the IT issues.

You are defending actions and behaviour that I - and many of us, it seems - see as being indefensible. Again, not so much the redesign and IT problems - although allowing that to go off the rails the way it has is really bad - but the way that this has been handled by BCO over the past 30+ days. One example: BCO issuing a glowing press release about the redesign more than 2 weeks into this fiasco, despite all the IT problems and all the anger of their membership about the redesign. That is indefensible.

traveltext - Why post any code? It’s not as if the tech team is going line by line through the code like what you posted. All the code isn’t even in one file.

I have to click over to the left to log in. That un-garbles the mess that this forum still looks like. I hope I don't remain logged in when I log out. That's a new one.

Just so discouraging that I have to post now to tell you how discouraged I am, rather than post to greet a newbie, visit with my virtual bc friends, or just read. I can't do ANY of that now. So I'm logging out again and can only hope that one day the activity will return to this site. Of course that goes along with hoping bc never returns in my lifetime. It's all a crap shoot.

I just checked and when I clicked community and active topics it shows me as logged on when I signed off 2 hours ago. I'll try going back a page to sign out?

ctmbsikia, we have opposite problems! I used to stay logged in even when I closed the site, unless I deliberately logged out first. I liked that because it made it easy to pop in several times a day. Now I have to log in with each visit (all ELEVEN steps), which makes me stop and think "Do I really want to bother?" And I just ran into a problem last night when I was already logged in, that I had to do it AGAIN to access a private message. I hope you stick it out! I'm mostly just posting here, a few other threads some days, but I always read the Steam Room to keep up with some of my favorite people.

My log-out has not been working on my PC (Windows 10, Firefox) for at least 4 days now, as per my post yesterday. After logging out, even if I shut down the BCO site and then clear the cache, when I newly open the BCO site, I'm still logged in - and I can access PMs and I can post. The only way to actually log out is to close my browser, thereby losing any other site on which I was logged in or had history (since I'm set up to have my history cleared when I close the browser). That's insane.

Until yesterday I did not have this issue with my iPad. When I signed out, I was signed out. Since some time yesterday, that is no longer the case. Now when I sign out, close the BCO site and then bring the BCO site up again, I am still signed in. So the problem has gotten worse over the past 24 hours.

This has become the Hotel California. You can check out (or log out, in the case if BCO) any time you like, but you can never leave. Scary.

If I want to log out I type out a big long post and then hit submit. That takes me back to the login page to start over (big long post gone).

Why are we being asked do we want to log out after clicking log out. Umm for me, yes I'm sure. I wouldn't have clicked it if I wasn't. I'm curious, whose brainchild was that stupid extra step?

Kath, yes, why? And why, after clicking to log out and clicking again to confirm that I want to log out, I am still not logged out?

It seems that navigation has been set up to maximize the number of clicks. Signing in and getting to the active threads takes at least 12 -15 clicks, when you consider that you need to click 7 more times to reach the active thread list after you finally work your way to the right page (to my post yesterday morning). It almost makes me wonder if every click counts as an activity/movement around the site, and these are being counted and showcased to donors as highlighting how popular the new site is now.

The database is intact. HUH? So why am I showing as HER2- when I am not. And how ER-/PR- got added in when I go into edit,,,,WTF? Do I have to delete all my information, then start over?

Just so annoying.

Mods, is the tech team planning on fixing the “My Diagnosis” section or does BCO expect us to re-enter the information? Was the previous information lost or was there an error in transferring the data? I ask because my primary diagnosis was ILC, but I also had ductal (and ILC) in my other breast. Ductal is the only thing that shows up in the diagnosis area now. Maybe the tech team didn’t consider the fact that people can have multiple diagnoses and just ported the last item entered

From my experience, it looks like the data is intact but there is some kind of disconnect between the database, what we see when we try to edit and what ends up showing in our posts. Several of us have noticed the brackets and I flagged that all chemo treatments are being displayed as “other”. For quite awhile I couldn’t access anything in my profile. When that was fixed it appeared as if all the dates of diagnosis were gone. However, the dates are in fact there when I post.

Cyathea, I see DCIS/ILC in your diagnosis. Is that not correct? Personally I’m holding off doing anything with my profile until the site stabilizes. I suspect that it won’t be necessary to re-enter data once things settle down.
