It is a bot slower than usual but at least I can log on now and it seems to work fine for me on my iMac.
-
Re: Auto log-out issues and profile issues are top priority and are being worked on as we type!
We thank you for your continued patience.
-
Still showing as Her2- on the threads even though in my profile that I can update, it says (correctly) Her2+. AND where did the ER-/PR- come from? I never added in my ER/PR status.
-
Mods,
ShetlandPony hasn't been able to log into BCO for a month. It shouldn't be a test of endurance and commitment to come here. Please fix this.
-
alicebastable, are we really surprised by that ad promoting the "Learning" side of the BCO site? That side pretty much worked since the ill-fated launch of March 1. It's the discussion boards that are the problem side--both technically, and those of us pesky people who are trying hold the BCO "leadership" accountable. We're just not seeing much "leadership" here. They have not provided us answers or accountability for their poor choices. What leadership in the business world would allow this mess to continue for a month without answers? What board of a business would allow this lack of leadership? Maybe that post on FB will generate some public discussion about the fiasco here, since our comments and feedback receive no answers except "we're passing that along to the tech team!"
BCO has for years tried to push the focus toward their leadership on the medical side of BC information to big money people. They want to track, profile, and provide us their "recommendations" to gather data to prove their usefulness to the big donors that fund this site. Strangely, they have the notion that we would be willing to upload our medical records here, I suppose to gather more data. Who would ever trust that? They can even get a discussion board to work again.
I'm not planning on pushing the only colorful "Donate" spot on these boards, but am realistic enough to know they need to fund raise to keep the BCO site operational. It does make me feel used, and since the "Community" side has such a low priority for repair for the past month, and they keep prematurely tooting their own horn to promote the "fresh new look", I really don't know why I keep coming back, other than to continue relationships and help newcomers. My heart breaks for what some have expressed about how they came here for help and couldn't get it because they can't deal with the technical "difficulties" in the past month. BCO "leadership," when are you going to take responsibility for this launch before checking that it worked, stop promoting a website that doesn't work, and get it fixed?
Edited for typos.
-
Serenitystat, we haven't heard from Shetland and weren't aware she was having such a difficult time accessing the boards, can you ask her to email us so we can start to get things working for her? community@breastcancer.org

ceanna,
Good post! I keep thinking how absurd it is to think that anyone would upload their medical records to bco (I realize they probably wouldn’t be public but upload my medical records for any reason to an entity that is not part of my medical/treatment team? That is a resounding NO!
As for me, I find myself here less often. After all of these weeks and the way bco members have been treated , i.e. no real answers to many questions and lack of accountability, I find my self simply not caring as much. It does make me sad as I’ve been a member for 10 years.
-
Mods,
I posted your email address on her thread. I don’t have her email address, but you do. You can ask your tech team to get it for you. It’s a simple query.
How many other members can’t log in since the redesign? Maybe this should be another priority.
-
exbrnxgrl, I feel the same way. Not the same and I've been here almost 13 years. When I read the part about uploading your medical records I absolutely could not believe it.
-
Shetland Pony hasn't been doing well this year and it should not be on her to go through poorly constructed, slow, rickety hoops to use this forum when she feels up to it.
Post my personal medical information on this (or any) site? Oh hell no. Now I'm nervous about the diagnosis information I entered when I joined in 2018, and what BCO plans to do with it.
-
Imagine being cut off from your support team when you are struggling and then having to tap dance to try to get them back. I wonder how many more have just given up.
But keep promoting the site on social media as if it is amazing. Maybe first do no harm?
-
Logged in. After reading several of my favorites, I noticed that I was logged out. Took me a while as I'm not coming as often, damn glaring white background and tiny print. And hell no to giving BCO my medical info! Bad enough my doctors have patient portals that could possibly be breached. I surely wouldn't trust BCO. After ten years, I'm about to give up unless things start changing. I'm curious as to whose brainchild this fiasco belongs to.
-
Good grief! How come I am showing as IDC AND ILC?. ILC was NEVER entered in my profile. Like the other mysterious ER- /PR- that I never entered which doesn't show up when I post but it is there when I go to update my Profile.
-
where are the CEO and Board Members? We are beyond Mods handing out answers like giving kids candies to shut us up this is INSULTING not to mention stressful. Leaderships owe us a response and not the Mods, not anymore
-
We fully understand how weary you are! We'll have more info early in the week. We at BCO are really, really sorry for all this unexpected functionality upset. We mods are here all weekend and will do what we can to help in any way.
-
Mods,
1) Have you been able to contact ShetlandPony yet? Can you add a mailto link on the login page to contact you in case of issues? She’s not the only one.
2) Your apology covers the broken functionality but not the APPEARANCE of the redesign. Does that mean you will continue to ignore complaints from people having difficulty reading the site?
3) “Weary”? That doesn’t cover it at all.
-
Serenitystat, yes, we've reached out to Shetland and will continue to email her until we get a response! We can certainly ask about getting an email contact added to the log in page.
-
I almost think we need a big button on each page that says "I'm still angry about all this /gesturing wildly at everything/" and then we can just click the button & not keep repeating complaints here :P
JK!

Mods, two days in a row I have logged in, been taken back several pages on the first thread I click on, proceed to read several threads to then see I need to log in yet again. First time I was on my Mac Book Pro and today I was able to get to BCO on my iPad. Still difficult to read but one good thing with the iPad, I don’t have that God awful wide left column of glaring white. TBH, if the white isn’t toned down and font quality improved, I don’t think I’ll be around much longerafter ten years.
-
Thanks so much for reporting this, kathindc. This is a known glitch and is being worked on currently!
-
Why can't I get into PRivate Messages?? It's impossible to find. When I click on "private messages" there's a number but it doesn't take me to my account so I can send/receive a private message. Please fix this now or explain how to get into. Thanks.
-
Veeder14, those should be accessible on your profile page, are you not able to see them or the send private message button?
-
If I BOLD a word while typing, it looks bold until I submit it; then it looks the same as all the other words. (The word 'bold' was bolded every time I used it in this post.....4 times....)
-
Ruthbru, you're right, it just looks like the rest of the cheap-ass font they're using.
-
Mods- When is the Profile section going to get fixed???? My Profile is a mess. Targeted Therapy shows up multiple times. Dates are wrong. I need to start over and retype my Profile to clean it up.
When are we going to see fixes? We submit problems and they never get fixed.
-
They're working on it…
I can tell because now my location is no longer displayed.
I also have to replace my oh-so-fitting signature each time I try to edit my personal information.
🙄😳😱😬
-
Mods - Not sure if I'm not doing something right, but I can't get my diagnosis to save to my profile and then onto my posts at the bottom? I have filled it out over and over and saved, but it just goes back to the original page saying "Add a diagnosis." I was just able to add treatments to my profile, and this is the first post since then, so it may be at the bottom when I hit submit?... But can't get diagnosis to work.
Update: Treatments didn't post here either, although I think they are saved in my profile.
-
I can’t save my diagnosis and it won’t let me select any numbers for percentages. I am using Safari. I also tried from my laptop with Win10 on chrome. Thanks
-
Devices:
iMac and iPad
Browser: Safari
Comments:
All functions appear to be working except my location is not showing and bold not functioning.
Happy with the new design.
Improvements:
Please add a "Keep me logged in" button.
Add a function to set your own number of posts per page. Ten is way too few. -
COMPARISON
If you go to the Wayback Machine (www.archive.org) you’ll find snapshots of the old design going back in time. Here’s a comparison between the old and the new Active Pages page as viewed on my iPhone.
