Well, DAY 28, four weeks!!!! And we still don't have a working discussion board. Obviously, any changes you intended to make, should have been working before launch on March 1. It doesn't appear you'll even be ready by April 1 (April Fool's!!). Can't you at least correct the stark white background with light gray text so that we don't have to wear extra magnifying glasses to read posts now that the site is again accessible? Load times are getting slower in the past few days, it's displaying days' worth of threads on the "active topics" listings, we seem to have lost postings, and it's still displaying my old diagnosis lines which I had changed long before March 1. I can't seem to change it back as many of us have reported for weeks. I choose not to stay logged in on this site and I'm more than a little annoyed with seeing the atrocious graphic announcing the "fresh new look" video promoting the BCO website (that doesn't work) every time I log out. I will always clear my cache memory after visiting here so I suppose it thinks I'm new and want to see that awful video graphic. I can't decide if it's two heads with insects crawling on them, a boob graphic with eyes, or what it's supposed to be, but for the sake of the BCO members, please remove it asap!!

Still waiting for BCO leadership to take responsibility, apologize, and tell us when we can expect a workable discussion board.

ceanna…. Wouldn’t it be nice for the moderators or ANYONE in authority to tell us IF and/ or WHEN the IT professionals can fix the background and text SIZE, and BOLDNESS?

Day after day asking for patience?

that said, how in the world does ANYONE at BCO think newbies will ever find this discussion board AND stay if MOST of us are having issues and have lost whatever patience we had almost a month ago?

and Dr, Weiss? Has SHE lost patience? If this was MY labor of love, my heart would be broken by now…

Hi Mods. Sort of already reported I think but today, suddenly, I have to log in repeatedly. The only reason I mention it is that I have not had to log in for the last couple of weeks, both on my iPad and my computer. Not having to log in is normal pre-upgrade on my iPad but the computer was a surprise as I have always had to log in every time I turned on my computer. I assumed it was due to my cache resetting but nothing has changed with my computer. Also, the log in screen on my computer comes up kind of scrambled with the auto fill password over top of the login ID/password prompts. If I click on the screen it rights itself. Odd…

Looking forward to things getting more stable. As a reminder of what's really important, I'm facing some challenges at the moment and am hoping I can navigate the community despite the glitches. I get so much support here. I know you are doing your best to get the ship sailing again! Give the techies a nudge from me. 😊

Sorry, edited to add that I am using Safari on my iPad and Chrome on the computer

A few days ago, Ceanna posted an open letter to the CEO and board members, THAT letter deserves an acknowledgement from both CEO and the Board member. BCO uses the data from our pain and sickness to get donation that PAYS the CEO salary. The community deserves the respect, and to date, none from leadership. The mods are totally innocent and try their best to help the community, but leadership? Not so much, the only thing they care is donation. I think the open letter from Ceanna should be printed on the NY Times op-ed page.

fifthyear, I beg to differ. As defined by BCO on their "About Us" page, the role of the Moderators is to help us connect with the information we need, gather insights from the community, and advocate for patient needs within the industry. Does any BCO member feel that anyone at BCO is advocating on our behalf beyond the most basic of IT issues? I agree that the problem starts at the top, but there are a lot of people involved with this organization (look at the About Us page, keeping in mind that it only shows the Executive team) and ask yourself what all of these people are doing. I'm sure they all know what is going on with the community, and yet nothing is being said or done to address the concerns that have been so strongly voiced by the community.

BCO don't care. Since the board has been back up, there has been no response from BCO to my post, Ceanna's posts, JHL's post, VoraciousReader's post, Cyathea's post, Threetree's post... Nothing. Zero. Zilch. If comments made have not been specific to a potentially fixable technical or IT problem, BCO simply doesn't give a damn and are not responding. I believe this is a conscious and planned approach.

After all, when you think about, the 5 days that the site was down worked out very well for BCO. Much of the anger and discontent among the membership about the redesign, appearance and difficult navigation of the BCO site dissipated when the discussion board came back on-line last week. Most people were so relieved just to have the site up that all those other issues fell aside. Sure the board is still difficult to use and hard to read and virtually impossible to navigate and moving in a direction that makes no sense to anyone, but hey, the discussion board is up and we can post, so all is good!

It appears that during those 5 days a decision was made within BCO to move ahead despite all the problems and regardless of the feelings of the community. In fact, the 5 days that the site was down has now been spinned into a reason why the upcoming redesign of the discussion board (to bring it in line with the rest of the site, no doubt) is necessary. Here is part of Hope Wohl's current message on the home page of the discussion board:

"Completely redesigning and re-platforming the discussion boards is a top priority for Breastcancer.org. This upgrade will provide a much better experience and prevent technical disruptions like those that have occurred in the past few weeks."

It's pretty clear what BCO think about the input and opinions of their members. The 5 days the site was down got most people back on board; as for the rest, we are being ignored in the hopes that we give up and shut up.

Lastly, one new technical issue. In several of my previous posts I've mentioned that I've found it impossible to find the information I am looking for on the main site. I finally decided to see if I could get to the information I want by using a link that I'd included in an older post. Guess what? The link put me onto a different page. So I tried out a few other links, including one from the Mods in a thread that is currently active (but the link was posted prior to the redesign). None of them worked. I got a couple of 404 Errors, Page Not Found and in one post the link showed as being broken. I'm sure that some of the links in older threads still work, but it appears that this is an unintended consequence of the main site redesign. Oops.

    Hello Mods,

I was just wondering whether anything can be done to put the photograph (avatar) on my posts back to normal. For some time now with all the technical problems my head has been cut off! If it cannot be remedied please remove it.

I keep having to log in each time I want to post and the thread comes up at page 1 when I was on the most recent page. The pages of the post look very bland and have somehow lost their pleasant character.

I do hope everything will get back to normal soon.

This must all be very frustrating for you.

    Best wishes

    Sylvia

We are reading everything, and reporting all issues and comments that we read here. You are far from ignored. We are looking at new platforms, and the tech team is working on the reported issues from this current platform we are on.

Everything you say to us is duly noted, we promise. We'll continue to keep you updated.

So, let's do the math. Four weeks we have tried to deal with a dysfunctional website and the mods keep telling us the "tech team" is working on this. At a minimum of a 40 hour workweek, and four weeks of problems, let alone the fact that there must have been "some" work on the discussion board "coding" before the premature March 1 launch, that means that if only one person on a tech team was working on it, over 160 hours were spent--if a "team" of three that would be 480 hours--if working 24/7 during the crisis downtime would be countless overtime hours! So where are the fixes, and where is leadership's management of this failed project? If a business tried this, they would be out of business. We keep coming back to help others in hopes that BCO will have finally made it work again, but instead we encounter more problems, and the same "we're reporting" the problems and promises. Yet AGAIN!! Please give us reason to trust you and be responsible, accountable, and give us information on when we can expect these threads will work!!

A new problem showed up as I tried to "Bold" this message so I can read the "fine" gray print. It will not allow me to bold the whole message, just parts of the whole, and not all even if I try to bold in segments.

I'm sure this has been posted numerous times, but can the font be enlarged? It's very tiny for my chemo weary eyes.

Also, my name should be JACK5IE.

    Thanks.

PS…still having those glitches regarding posting with starting out with a capital letter and the period at the end of the sentence.

To make the font bigger (on a computer) hold the Ctrl key and tap the + key.

I don't know about any other devices. My posts show across the entire page this way, not shoved over to the right.

I have just tried to read the 'calling all triple negative cases in UK'

    https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/72/topics...

    I go to page 1 , annoying

worse -I cannot change page, as I can only see 'pre' of previous as the page has dropped off the right side of screen

    I am using a chrome book .

My take is that this is going to affect fundraising. And it should.

cowgirl, BCO's big donors funded this redesign, and what those donors are hearing is how wonderful and innovative the redesign is. The complaints from discussion board members are stuck here on the discussion board - no one else sees them. Meanwhile, BCO and Work & Co issued their glowing press releases, which have been picked up all over the place, and Fast Company has a article that's full of praise about BCO's new direction and their patient-centric and user-friendly new design. In the scheme of things, with all this positive publicity, BCO's coffers will fill, even if every member of the discussion board decides to stop donating. This is why we don't matter to them.

Where we do matter is that without members posting on the discussion board, the discussion board dies, and that would be problematic since their new design focuses in part on the "community". But to my earlier post, most of the discussion board members have forgiven and forgotten and are moving ahead with their posts. So it's a win-win for BCO.

Mods, you said "You are far from ignored. We are looking at new platforms, and the tech team is working on the reported issues from this current platform we are on.". Thank you, you just confirmed exactly the point that I had made in my previous post. Yes, our concerns about the technical / IT issues on the current platform are being looked at. But my point was that the broader concerns raised by several of us are being ignored, and with that comment, they continue to be ignored.

Can we stop here & get some clarification. When you said "We are looking at new platforms, and the tech team is working on the reported issues from this current platform we are on." does that mean you are looking to 'use, license, purchase' (not sure of the terminology here) yet another platform? What did you do prior to this March 1 launch? I thought that involved migrating from a previous outdated platform to this one, which has been a bit of a bust. So, now you are looking to obtain another one? My non-IT mind is thinking you need fewer platforms and a better 'team'.

Regarding the various points beesie.is.out.of.office so eloquently brought up, I would appreciate you addressing the actual non-forum articles and lack of content. So many of us have benefited from the links that were easily available.

Would you please address the content issue?

    1) posts that I've bookmarked are no longer accessible. Like this post where I've been keeping mTNBC treatment options & links to relevant studies - the link no longer works https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/8/topics/...

    2) I tried to post a reply when I was inadvertently logged out. It let me type my reply, took me to a login screen, I logged in, and then the reply was all gone, blank, not posted. Can we have the reply box not avail if you're not signed in? Esp now that the system seems to sign us out very frequently.

Hi Moth, that link seems to work for us. The thread is still there and should be accessible to you. When you say you've "bookmarked" the post -- do you mean on your browser or through your Favorites list?

Also, re: reply box, that is a helpful suggestion, and we will take that back to the team. Makes sense to not have the option to reply if you're not logged in. Thank you.

Well, if all of these "things" are being addressed, or sent to the tech team for the past month, why are we not seeing corrections made? The only real change I've seen weeks ago is a slight increase in text size, but not the light, unreadable gray text color. This is a minor style sheet change so why don't we see it for a whole month? It would be helpful for us to see a list of all the errors reported and when the tech team plans to implement corrections. We need an explanation of what now is called a "replatforming." Why, oh why, would BCO leadership authorize a launch on March 1 of such an unexplainable, untested, premature mess? If you're trying to eliminate the discussion boards, you're doing a great job!!

Does anyone else get an Oh Shit moment when they see that something has been reported to the tech team? Might as well send it to the foxes they hired to guard the chickens.

Mods, I see the "xxx unread comments" under a topic, click, read it, and it still says the same thing when I go back to the topic list. Does the count only change if we've commented, or logged out and back in? It's really hard to keep track of the topics I've read.
