Marshabel, what a nightmare! I hope that's not our future. However, I saw a thing at one of our grocery stores where you put your finger up to something and I think you don't have to use a card. I've got to check that out AND I DID NOT dream that up. Now, if I can remember which store.

sjoc, now that was funny! No left turn on red..no history of bc...LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!

Shirley - glad you got a laugh. Just wish my family found me amusing - my sons keep telling me that they worry about me when I'm out alone. - By the way - how is your daughter and son-in-laws adventure going? Hope all is well. Sandy

Well, chemo-brain strikes again for me!
I just arrived at work about 15 minutes ago. I usually bring my lunch and put it in the fridge, but I opted to buy something today. However, that didn't stop me from trying to put my purse in the fridge! I'm so used to carrying something into the lounge and putting it in the fridge that I just went on auto-pilot and grabbed my purse.
Had a good laugh at myself on that one . . . and a strange look or two from my hall-mates! -
Ok, I have a good one. I get woke up this morning by the phone. Computer system is down at work. I need to get over there and find out why and get ready for lunch quickly because I was meeting bc sisters for our monthly lunch. Anyway I am running around trying to get out the door and was trying to dry my hair. My darn glasses get in the way so I drop them in the sink and continue on. Well I am getting ready to walk out the door and realize I need my glasses. I remember dropping them in the sink 5 minutes earlier and go back to the bathroom. I look in the sink and they are gone! Now I call my kids downstairs to help me find my glasses because I can't see them without glasses on! DUH!!! Anyway we spend 30 minutes looking, time is ticking and I need to go! I give up, find an old pair of glasses and head out the door. These glasses are ok but don't have my bifocal in them so I am getting dizzy as I walk. This was at 11 am. It took me until 6 pm to find those darn glasses. I decide to head back to the scene of the crime. Sorry for being graphic but I take a seat and look around this little 1/2 bath trying to find these buggers, This just has a toilet a sink, a small trash can and a mirror. I look around this little space and WALAH! Hanging right where I would never find them on the cord to the blow dryer. They blended into the scene! I can't believe I couldn't find those things for so many hours!!!!! Gotta love this disease! LOL

sjoc, I had to go back and read your post. Couldn't remember what you said. In fact, I was telling a couple of people about your "red light" incident and told them I couldn't remember the other one...the one where you had "no history of bc." I chuckled again when I reread your post.
Kids are doing well now. They're in Cape Town. I don't know how long they'll be there. SIL saw an ortho for his knee, had an MRI, blood tests to rule out various arthritises, didn't need surgery and ortho is sending him to a rheumatologist. Hope they can figure it out. Their truck was broken into, but other than that everything is fine. Thanks for asking.

LuAnn, I am so nearsighted that there's no way I'd even be able to walk out the door without my glasses. However, six months ago I got a new script. My right eye has been blurred since. My old script is better, but the lens are so messed up. Opthamologist reduced the strength a bit. I should have gone back right away, but my excuse is I hate going to doctors. It's all I could do to go when I did. Now, Wednesday I'm supposed to have a field vision test (something like that) and I suppose I'll tell her about the bum script. And, of course, I'm so rich that I'll be responsible for paying for the new lenses. How stupid am I!
I do find it amazing that you found your glasses WITHOUT drying your hair first! Hey, even your kids couldn't you find them.

Come on I was competing with Xbox, how much sincere looking do you think they did????

Last night I changed into my PJ's, carefully hung up my clothes, took my undies and socks and put them into ... the wastebasket.
And I'm more than 2 years post chemo. -
Last fall my sister went with me to one of my Herceptin treatments, and my chemo nurse always goes through a list of questions about how I have been feeling, like "any nausea, headaches," etc. Well, my favorite is "Any confusion?" I told her that day that my sister and I were discussing our other medical problems, and I could not think of the word "fibroids", only hemmorrhoids! My sis then said, "Oh well, it's just geography. You know, one of those "oids'! We had my chemo nurse practically in tears, and now she doesn't even ask me that question anymore!

When i was a teenager, my family always had baby powder in the bathroom. I would always toss a little " SOuth of the Border" in those days before they discovered it wasn't a good idea. One day, I saw a yellow dispenser and thought my Dad bought a new brand, something cheaper. I did my toss below, and left the house. Well,....It was GOLD BOND POWDER. The fire down below didn't really kick in until I was several blocks away.Nothing like mentholating your nether region . I think that was the fastest I ever ran home!!!

I just love coming here and reading. Better than the comedy stations.

BTW, are you trying to make some of us look bad by neatly hanging your clothes before throwing your undies away! -

I think I have perma-chemobrain... I'm 10 1/2 years out from chemo.....
Spending New Year's moving wasn't a whole lot of fun. After a 3 day marathon move, we finally had everything in the new house. I was exhausted and decided I needed to try out the soaker tub. I'd asked my DD to put the epsom salts in my bathroom. She'd told me she put a bag of something under the sink, it looked like epsom salts but that wasn't what the label said. I started to fill the tub, grabbed the bag, opened it and threw in a handful of crystals. Five minutes later I jumped in and thought "these epsom salts arent dissolving too quickly" the water was feeling really "thick". As I sat there swishing the thick water around I realized what I'd done..... Instead of epsom salts, I'd added the natural product I use to make 'hot flash bags' for friends. Each grain absorbs 400 times its weight in water. I jumped up and pulled the plug. Then I had visions of every pipe in the brand new house bursting so I had the kids turn on every tap and flush the toilets over and over for about an hour. They were howling with laughter and proceeded to torture me by adding water to some crystals in a cup - of course it was a solid mass in minutes. They had me convinced the whole street would back up.
I took that bag right out of the bathroom and put it somewhere. I just wish I could remember where.

Thanks Towanda. I also "found" my undies and socks in the wastebasket the other morning. I prefer to think that maybe the cat put them in there!! NancyLee

Chemo-brain strikes again! I have my special wig brush in my handbag so it is always available when I am out, but I found it inconvenient when I am at home to dig through my handbag for it. I found a cute little brush in the downstairs bathroom which was perfect so have been using it for several weeks. Last night I asked my husband and son whose brush it is and they informed me IT IS THE CAT BRUSH!! I have been brushing my wig with the cat's brush for weeks! Son and DH thought that was hysterical!

Here is my rad fatigue story for the week. I had to shop for comfy cotton blouses so that I wouldn't be sore and could go without a bra. I hate shopping now because I am so tired so an hour in the department store was torture. I got in the car and wanted to go straight home but rememebered I had to drop off a bag of library books that day or they would be overdue. The library was closed so I pulled up to the drive up book drop and came within a milisecond of dropping my new blouses down the chute. Thank God I caught myself before I let go of the door!!!

I have been trying desperately to grow my hair since I am four months out of chemo and have purchased all the Nioxin products. We also have a bottle of prescription lotion which contains urea and dissolves the rough dead skin on your heels and the calluses on the rest of your feet (both in white bottles). Two days ago I tried to put this on my head instead of my Nioxin Scalp Treatment. Stopped myself just in time because I noticed the smell as I put it up to my head. Thank God for super-hero chemo-enhanced smelling abilities! Can you imagine what that would have done to my 1/4" new hair!!

I haven't had chemo - I'm just blonde!
I was backing into a parking spot and pulled forward to straighten out and I hit a car that was trying to squeeze in front of me..when the cop came, I told him I was doing a "KY" turn instead of K turn - he kept giving me strange looks...he probably thinks I'm a perv..hehe
I love the glitter spray story - that's funny
Love Marisa -
Loved it, Sue! I'm sitting here laughing. Too funny!
Shirley -
Here I go laughing again.
Marisa, I've had chemo and am a "bottled" blonde!
Shirley -
I love this thread - it keeps me laughing. We should rename it so it stays on the top - I like your suggestion a while back Shirley - how about "Chemo-Brain Comedy Club"? Does anyone know how to rename a thread?

Traded my truck in for a car yesterday. Brought car home and was taking stuff out of the trunk that used to be in the truck.
Asked my son to put something in the front seat and somehow the car got locked. No problem, clicker and keys in my pocket. Tried to unlock it with clicker and it would not. Kept trying for about 3 minutes getting more and more frustrated before I thought to use the key. Felt like the punch-line of a dumb blond joke.
At least it was in my garage and no one but a 4-year-old witnessed it!!! -
I wish that I could blame this on chemo, but I did it before all this started. It is the dumbest thing I have ever done.
I was going shopping one day and driving on a road that has a "Y" shaped junction. I went from one of the arms to the base. as I was driving along, I noticed that this part of the street had the yellow line on the RIGHT of the lane instead of the LEFT!!!! Thank heavens it didn't take too long for me to figure out what was wrong!
Thanks for all the laughs, girls, this is a great thread. -
Hey Ladies,
It's me again.
Ok spendt the ENTIRE weekend looking for my DH's microvoice recorder.( small thing just a couple inches big;He uses it for business.
Anyhoo,
Looked everywhere, had this niggly feeling in my brain that I was responsible for misplacing it. Torn apart the place.
Of course last night he finds it exactly where I put it so it wouldn't get lost ( in a small drawer in our bar, that I puroposely left somewhat opened to remind me - Ha )
Oh yeah, phone went missing too.
Finally fiquired out to locate it I could call from my cell.
Found it. Yep, in the trash.
I am running out of post -its!!!!
I am hopeless!!!

We'll it was my big day. Off to the SSDI interview. I got dressed as best I could.
My sister came to pick me up and come with me to the interview. I left the interview
and walked outside.
To my horror, apparently, I had one pair of glasses on the front of my head, and another pair
on the back of my head. My top was inside out. I had what looked like a diaper on my shoulder
(to catch my giant hot flashes).
I asked my sister How she could let me go in like that. To my horror she answered, She thought
they should see the "REAL" me!!

Susie,
Ha!!Love that.
You sound like my clone. It's so reassuring there's alot of us out there!

This thread is wonderful. I've so enjoyed reading everyone's posts because it's nice to know I'm not the only one out there doing strange things. I didn't have chemo so I guess mine's attributable to tamoxifen tizzy or rad fatigue (or just plain old age! although I'm only 50).
I left the cancer center yesterday after finding out the machine was down so my treatment was cancelled. I turned right out of the parking lot and then decided I wanted to go to the grocery store which is about 2 seconds to the left. So I turned around to go back and then drove right past the grocery and didn't realize it until I was about 1/2 mile down the road. Not sure where my brain went in those few seconds but it was definitely elsewhere!
I turned back around, made it to the grocery and then got home with only about half the stuff I intended to pick up.
I've got to start making lists!
Then on the way to work this morning the low fuel light came on in my car because I can't seem to remember to stop for fill ups. Hopefully I'll make it back out to a station.
Thanks again for all the laughs these posts have given me. You ladies are the greatest.
