It's been amazing how long the pansies have lasted but a snow storm is coming
-
Aren't the white ones petunias? We can buy winter pansies here. They can put up with our milder winters most years. I don't think petunias do well here. I don't see them for sale very often.
-
I planted multi color carrots and the greens got to be about 18 inch high. They were starting to pop out of the ground so I pulled a couple of the more colorful ones. They look deformed! What happend?
-
Whoops yes petunias

Those birds are really fluffed up trying to stay warm. Good shot.

Love these pics! Down to 5 degrees tonight. Wake me when it’s April and the garden season begins. :

This is our state bird, the roadrunner
-
I always wondered what a roadrunner really looked like - Thanks Jazzygirl
A little nuthatch hanging out.
-
In action road runners look just like the cartoons. I had never seen one up close.

Here's another one of a morning sun bath
-
Jazzy,
I saw your post on the (how about drinking?) thread. You gave he/she the nickname Rocky the roadrunner. Cute!

I still start many plants like the following by rooted leaf cuttings from old pink african violet passed down from Mom.
Daughter will love the blooms that appear to be dipped in sugar when sparkling in the sunshine.
She'll also like the frog plant dish.
-
Anyone know why your carrots might come out looking more like a turnip or like it grew skinny legs? The seeds I got were the multi color carrots, but they all came out looking like anything but a carrot. I had pictures, but I apparently deleted them
-
Might have to do with the soil. We have to dig deep and add sand to the mix to grow them here. Maybe they're hitting a piece of clay and growing around it.
-
Wren44 interesting. We took over the plot at the community garden, I helped the woman before me remove her plants, I added organic soil, tilled it and solarized it for the summer to kill any microbes that may eat away at roots. None of them came out "normal". Very weird, but they tasted great roasted!
-
We ended up with 11 inches of snow.

This was a surprise visitor who was checking out my bird feeder. He left hungy but what a beauty and right outside my bay window. It's a Cooper's Hawk.
-
I’ve had those birds in my yard a couple of times.

The turtles at the park near my house love to sunbathe

Betrayal,
My photo of a cooper's hawk perched in a tree watching the blue jays at our suet feeders during 2015.
Jazzy,
I'll share your prior post pic with my daughter. ;o))

I love their earthy smell.

Fruit tree blooms finally happening here in NM about three weeks late

Jazzy,
I would like to smell the lovely blooms!
My crocuses are peeking through the soil.
