No doubt we would all agree with the sentiment: "There's more to life than things." Yet much of our lives seem to be spent in the acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of material goods. Certainly we cannot enjoy the basics of food, shelter, and clothing without a concern for things. The truly important things of life, however, are those which cannot be encountered by the physical senses, purchased with money, or placed on a shelf. When we take a look at what we value most in life, we generally find family, friends, health, peace, contentment, laughter, helping others, and communion with God foremost on our list of priorities.

That's a real truth Divine. I suppose in come ways we should consider ourselves fortunate that this person was so un-caring and inept. Then again, I'm hoping this along with so much else does not go totally un-punished. It is said that many of these things could be hard to prove but part of the reason we already know something about this is the amt. of people who were there and aware.

I'm not sure from the sound of a lot I've heard lately, but it does seem like the 1/6 committee has more than enough corroborations for what they will be presenting. I think I heard on the news (MSNBC) just this morning that when the committee is able to start the public hearings that their will be no suspicions of what happened. Everything ( and that covers the whole nine yds. for sure ) will be backed up in ways that will leave no doubt.

I'm sure there will still be doubters. But they will be quite a minority I think. Most of the government Reps. ( House & Senate ) really know how it all came down and are not going to own up completely, especially as they had some part in it. Some others are nervous about losing votes so they are trying to avoid any confrontations. I think the party is going to come to a bad end. I'd like to see it happen in '22. The media would like for you to remain scared and convinced that Democrats are going to lose. Even the Cook Report had us even for it last time they had a look at it which was recently. Nothing is set in stone, but it does mean that the Dems have to keep the pedal to the mental. Sure would be nice to get a lot more of the truth and now skewered reports from the media.

You can fool all of the people -- but a lot of young folk, not so much.

May be an image of 1 person and text that says '"'ε been teaching for 20 years and my students have NEVER been this excited to talk about history, thanks to ALL these education bans and book bans. So, keep it up, Republicans. The young people can't wait to VOTE OUT all you fascists. My son takes a week off his job every year to go to libraries and read passages from the year's banned books for City Lit's annual "Banned Books Week." Not sure if it'll be virtual-only this year--last year it happened in-person during what seemed like a momentary reopening of stuff around here.

You are in charge of your feelings, beliefs, and actions. And you teach others how to behave toward you. While you cannot change other people, you can influence them through your own behaviors and actions. By being a living role model of what you want to receive from others, you create more of what you want in your life.

May be an image of text that says 'The decent people will keep being decent and wearing a mask without a mandate. The mandates were there to help protect us from the people who refuse decency if given the option. @JonPavlovitz'

True. If you are smart, you will keep on protecting yourself. Too bad there likely are people chomping at the bit to give up having to wear a mask. Why they like to live on the edge who knows. They have a weird viewpoint of freedom and of respect for others as well. Only an idea on my part, but likely could be the same kind of people that throw drink cups and sandwich wrappers out of their cars and won't clean out the leaves in their ditches that tend to help clog them up for everyone pass them.

No wonder he was so freaked out about low-flow toilets. But I don't understand the diatribes against dishwashers needing a second rinse....unless he was using them to launder money.

I too am not much surprised by Trump. I thought of him as sociopathic from nearly the first and that hasn't changed. His success in getting away with things is partly due to how blatant he has always been. Having money, or money enough brings worshipers to you, and they will okay your actions -- allow you to do as you wish in hopes of finding as much favor for themselves as you seem to have.

I have always had an aversion to Trump because I detest evil things. He wears his evil proudly, even flaunts it. It is an attraction that many have already paid for, and plenty will continue on. In fact, heard on the news this a.m. that Giuliani is negotiating right now with 1/6 committee. He will try to save himself -- or as much as he can. People don't realize that they are not equals of the orange freak. They will come away with a smell and a stain that will likely not be removable for their poor choice of thinking they can exist in the Trump world. He ruins everything he touches which they should easily see in all the failed business ventures and the fact that Trump has lived on borrowed money for yrs.

It certainly casts a new light on his 2019 comment when he said, "People are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times, as opposed to once. They end up using more water. EPA is looking at that very strongly at my suggestion."

Ruth, great follow-up meme. How often I'm sure we have all thought that. I gave it three months or so after the Democrats won the presidency, house and Senate, but here we still are. And that is after the orange abomination got himself banned from all the standard media sources. I so wanted to be able to leave his four yrs. and him behind, then again, I do have to say the fact that he 'stayed' around has done so much to bring the Reps. party down. I just hope it keeps on going down. Much of that will depend I think on what may come out of the 1/6 televised hearings.

The leaks we often get are tantalizing so I hope we can get them out there at just the right time.

Going to be interesting to see if he tries the Mark Meadows tip-toe through trying to hand out just enough. Didn't work for Meadows. Hope it doesn't work for him either.

Pretty big, big thing to happen right now. For the excess notoriety which Loon badly needed to bump up and the excess grifting available at the same time, I wonder if in the end the Loon will get that he made himself a truly viable target when he decided to run for Pres. Of course, he never expected it to happen (if prior reports are believed) but nothing has gone too good in HIS world since he decided to try and steal the last election. If that trend continues, I'll be the first not to shed a tear.

Trump Organization's accounting firm says it can no longer vouch for financial statements from the company

The accounting firm Mazars USA said financial statements from the Trump Organization over a nine-year period can no longer be viewed as reliable, according to a letter made public by New York Attorney General Letitia James as part of her civil probe of the former president's company. Mazars also said it will no longer work with the Trump Organization, meaning the company may have to get new financial statements that could complicate its ability to secure loans.

Judge to dismiss Sarah Palin's defamation case against The New York Times
