Diane--LOL!!! You must be my long lost twin--because that's my life right now! Breakfast goes fine and then it's all down hill from there!!

I was sooo happy my rads RN didn't weigh me last week--maybe she could just look at me and tell--'this one hasn't lost an ounce!'

Like the mantra though--I'll give it a try. You made my day--needed a laugh--thanks!!

    Diane,

Maybe I should try your mantra... mine..." I will be good, I will be good. I won't eat chocolate, french fries, pie, cookies, cake, etc..." ( Do you see an emerging pattern here?) <G>... It kind of went the way of my other old mantra..." I am 29, I am 29"!

Seriously ladies. I think we all cheat on what we eat. Goes along with being human.. not to mention if you happen to be a "chocolate - aholic" ! So, don't get down on yourselves if you slip and slide once in awhile. The important, albeit difficult part... to get back eating right and exercising again. This past week, I did a lot of sliping and sliding... but went to the gym today and feeling better already.

    Patti & Rose,

Love your recipes. Will try and post some of ours when I have more time. Have been spending more time with my granddaughter lately and less time on computer.

Chocolate bad... Carrots good... Hmmmmn! Nope can't say it. Chocolate never bad!

mmm...york peppermint patties....Well, ladies, I also had a couple of parties this week end- went over the top with ice cream (moose tracks with toppings) and gained 3 pounds. I think we have a rougher time loosing and maintaining weight cause of menopause and/or tamoxifen or arimidex. I am back on South Beach diet as of Monday. I don't think it is great for you to exclude carbs, but I've lost weight on it before. I will try to stick to it after the initial 2 weeks.......All the time I spend at the gym, cooking healthy foods and I still seem to put weight on- about 8 pounds all together-since I've been watching my weight!!! FRUSTRATING!!!!! Rosebudd

Atkins is it for me. I had lost 55lbs before they told me about the BC. Since I started Chemo in April I have gained about 15-20 lbs. I went back on Atkins and use my Gazzel machine 10 minutes a day. I have lost 5lbs in a week. The Steroids make me hungery all the time so I think the Atkins is the best for me. Good luck!

OK Ladies I did again.....ate all my food before noon, then hit the vending machine for a bag of chex mix at 3:00.

I joined weight watchers just after chemo, but was still too sick to really keep up. I buy the Smart Ones desserts. They are small but good...but when you 2 or 3 a night-sort of defeats the purpose...lol

Well-time to wrap up work..(hmmm a wrap sandwich)
man am I hungry. Have a good night ladies..

    Good Luck....

You ladies are so funny..reading back on all your replys to my previous post brought a smile to my face. I have to go for a pelvic ultra sound today so I think the 40oz of water to should fill me up for a bit. Then I think I will treat myself to something yummy while I watch American Idol. Have a good one!

    Patti,

Welcome home! Sounds like you had a terrific time and those "extra" pounds is probably just "water retention"!!! I had a family barbeque over the weekend, my first real hostessing soiree since my bc dx last March, and I pigged out and gained a couple pounds also. But got on scale this morning and they were gone, so must have been retaining water! LOL

Help!! Is it me??? I seem to be retaining a ton of water since chemo..While I have lost weight and the initial chemo bloat I seem to be retaining lots of water..It fluctuates from day to day..Could it be residual from chemo?? I finished at the end of November...I am so swollen tonight. Has anyone else had these symptoms?????????? Or is it just my weird anatomy??????????If I didn;t know better I would swear that it was time for my period... xoxo,Patti.........

I'm with you Patti! I wake up every morning, and think how swollen my feet and ankles feel as I hobble to the kitchen for my daily dose of caffeine! It seems to get better during the day. I lost my initial 6 pounds and in spite of slacking off in the working out dept., haven't seemed to have gained it back. I think that was all water weight. I am taking a well-deserved break next week and flying to Florida (with my trusty sleeve!) to visit my folks for a week and then I am determined to hit the pool and Curves again with a vengeance. I am having my oopherectomy on July 9th, but hopefully that will just slow me down, I want to go back to school in August being noticably leaner and meaner!!

Hi ladies, You all seem to be doing well in the weight department!!! I had lost 2 pounds, but then gained them back plus 2 more. I'm really discouraged. I've had to stop exercising-for the past 3 weeks- because of my knee, but the doctor just gave the go ahead. Maybe this will help. I can not keep up the no carb stuff.
Regarding the water retention, it is possible it is from chemo. The chemo has aged our bodies--if you were pre-menopausal. My weight can fluctuate as much as 4-5 pounds per week. Maybe it is water weight???? Or, maybe it is the 10 or 12 uh-oh oreo's that I ate when I was frustrated??????

Hey Hilde I hope you have a blast in Florida!! Eat,drink and be merry!! You deserve it..Plenty of time for the d word when you get back..You have the right attitude..Good luck on the 16th..I will be thinking about you!! Hey Rose ..I keep thinking hell maybe I should try the oreo diet! I would probally have better results and not feel so carb deprived..LOL!! I would certainly have enough energy from the sugar buzz and it would put a great big smile on my face...!!! I have to get my rear out today for a walk...I go all guns ahead with walking and then something comes up and I ditch it!! So I am really going to make an effort this week..Wish me luck!! Any new recipes out there for us to sample?????????? Have a nice day my friends...........xoxo,Patti

Hello Ladies - well I am just grinning ear to ear because I came back from Pizza Hut's all you can eat buffet...AND I don't feel one bit of guilt about it. I do wish I had a little piece of chocolate to top off my sweet tooth though...lol

Hey-how much do you think implants weigh? I went from an itty bitty A(really) to what the doc says is a C(looks like a large B to me). That's got to be worth something...2lbs more, 5lbs????

Oh well - I guess I'll keep my walking going - 2nd morning in a row I was out there at 6:00am doing just under 2 miles.

Have a great weekend everyone...good luck and enjoy whatever you do!

Hi Ladies - just got the results of my ultra-sound. All is fine. The cysts I had a year ago are gone. What scares me is they were borderline operational at the time of my BC dx and now they have vanished. Hey-one less thing to worry about.

Diane--good news on your scan, what a relief!

Patti--I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you to--hope you get good news on your latest scan.

My hat's off to you both for getting out and walking! I had really wanted to try and do this regularly myself, but rads is making me more tired by the day! So I'll just sit here on the sidelines for now and cheer the rest of you on!

    Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks Patti. I had #15 of 28 rads today. I'm more than half way. I'm getting red, and a little sore--but not too bad.

Today was not a good day--a very weepy day, which I haven't had in months. My husband and I were driving in the car with our 4 yr. old, who started asking me how long have I been sick, and what person did I get sick from. Then my husband let out such a sad sigh (he's usually the strong one), and said how heavy this all weighs on his heart. So, hence the weepiness.

Just feel like I am nothing but a financial and emotional burden these days. Didn't help when I got the ins. statement for my exchange surgery, the PS charged $14,000--my ins. co. will only pay $3,500. So add another $10,500 to the heap of medical bills!

Tomorrow will be a new day, and hopefully my usual optimistic self will have returned! Sorry to be such a downer here.

On a positive note--I've had no appetite today and hardly ate a thing!

    Have a good night everyone.

Dear Raven you are never a downer..It is the rads kicking in on top of everything else that you have been through so far...I finished rads at the end of March and still have my weepy days...I wish I could win the largest mega lotto going so that I could help all of my sisters here...We should not have to spend one cent of our money to fight this battle....It is not fair...Sending you the biggest hug and prayers that tomorrow will be a better day for you Raven...xoxo,Patti

Raven, you have been through hell and back--we all have. It is especially hard to face an illness when you have a little one. The chemo and rads are tiring. You will get through this!!! You pay back the PS or hospital at your own pace, at your own budget. You have enough to worry about. Someone told me you only have to pay 10 or 20 dollars per month!! I agree with Patty, it is awful that you have to pay even one cent! Hugs and more hugs Rosebudd.

Thanks Patti and Rosebudd for your kind words. I'm trying to pull myself together. Still a little teary-eyed. My husband's co-workers raised about $3,000 for us--they gave it to him today. I was so touched by their kindness and generosity (so of course, I had to shed some more tears!).

I guess when one door closes, another door really does open. We will get through this.

I've already decided that when my 10 year old is at her sports camp every morning in July, I'm going to go back to the gym (haven't been there since last Sept. when this all started). My 4 yr. old can play in the babysitting room, and I can slowly start to build up some stamina again.

Thanks for the encouragement and support. I'm so grateful for all of you wonderful ladies here on the boards.

    Have a good night everyone.

Hi Raven now I am teary eyed reading your post....It is so nice to read about the nice things that people do..There are so many people with generous hearts...It is just awesome..When do you finish rads?? I think the gym plan sounds great..I have been trying to walk as I am not up for the gym..I have too many issues with arthritis and leg pain..It was very steamy here today and I did not make it out for my walk..I should have gone early this morning before things really heated up..I pull out every excuse in the book!! LOL!! I need to work on that..Thanks for checking in ..xoxo,Patti
