I am so worried i have IBC
Hi im new and from the uk ...around 3 weeks ago i noticed my r breast was red above the aeola i suffer with chronic hives which i have had for about 9 years now and i scratched my breast and i thought the redness was down to the scratching but it has not gone away then i noticed my aeola felt harder and i have a dry skin patch but its smooth and not rough like orange peel im not sure if i was scratching it to make it go like this or not cuz i scratch everywhere on my skin in bouts because of the hives, ive noticed on my aeola that the pores have enlarged also on the area round the redness on the top and the sides of my breast has also got enlarged pores too the bottom of my breast feels slightly heavier and it feels warmer than my other breast,i went to see the nurse because there were no dr appointments available she checked and then got one of the drs to check me and he checked and found one of my lymph lodes was up slightly and it was smooth he said its most lightly to be an infection of some sort so prescribed antibiotics and he is booking me in for an ultra sound scan, im worried because i read that ibc might not be detected via ultra sound scan i am so scared that i have ibc and i suffer with anxiety that i have had for a number of years,im shaking through fear i am 58 years old ...any advice would be appreciated please ..thank you

eeyore58 - I know it's real hard to lower the anxiety levels when things like this happen, but hold on and wait for the tests. My cancer looked as if it could be IBC, but it turned out to be IDC. Still scary, and still cancer, but not as bad as some were thinking.
Also, if the doctor thinks an ultrasound might be helpful, he's thinking it might be something other that IBC, assuming IBC does not show on ultrasounds. He evidently thinks it's more likely something else and worth looking for that "something else" first. Also, I've scratched myself before too, where it has turned red and then stayed. Yes, it's nerve wracking and I've wondered what that can mean too, but it will eventually go away if it's just from the scratching. Your nipple problems sound more concerning, but again, it could be an infection or something like a benign fibroadenoma. There's no way to really know until they do all the tests. An infection could cause the lymph node issue also. While it is so hard to watch, worry, and wait, do hold tight until they come up with a diagnosis. In the meantime, maybe those antibiotics will produce some kind of positive result.
Fingers crossed that your problem is not serious.
