Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself. I turned 40 this year and had my first mammogram. A few days later I received a call back, which the doctor said happens often so I wasn't that worried. I go back to get a closer look mammogram on the right breast and it reveals micro calcifications in a specific pattern that could possible be precancerous. Went back the next week to do a core needle biopsy via mammogram. Results showed DCIS. Surgery scheduled for December 7. A few days later doctor calls me back saying there was an addendum after the biopsy that he had found more calcifications on a different area of my breast. I then had to go back and do an MRI on both breasts to be sure. MRI showed a left breast mass, and a right breast complex cyst. I then had to go back and do an ultrasound, on both breasts, confirmed results of MRI. Had to go back and do an ultrasound guided biopsy on both breasts. Luckily both came back negative for any precancerous cells. Just had surgery on December7, a right breast lumpectomy. I am now awaiting the pathology results to see if radiation and medication is needed. I am hoping not. The waiting seems to be the hardest part. It's been a hell of a month and a half.

    BlueGreenBaby, Welcpme to the club none of us asked to join. WOW you have had quite an experience!!! And, yes, the waiting is the hardest part and there is a lot of waiting involved. Please keep us posted on how things are with you. There is a lot of support and wisdom available here.

    So I had my surgery exactly one week ago today. I've been waiting for a call back with results and hadn't received one, so I called my breast health specialist. She told me that I need to call the surgeon. So I called the surgeon and I have to have a post op meeting with him and then he will discuss the results with me. Ugh. This waiting is driving me insane. My anxiety is through the roof. You would think that with something as huge as cancer they would hurry things along. My only saving grace is that it must not be urgent or too bad or else they would want to tell me right away? Ugh. I hate this. I did get to take a look at the pathology report in my MyHealthRecord website, but I'm not doctor and I'm not sure if I am even reading it correctly. So frustrating all this waiting. Now I have an appointment on the 21st with the surgeon. I just want to know already!

    hey there….

    I was just recently diagnosed also, results of stage 2 DCIS. Got the results as I was going through airport security on the way to Mexico. Worst timing ever….

    They said go ahead and enjoy the holiday (seven weeks) and we'll deal with things on my return. Works for me.

    Do you have MyChart? Results have to be posted there as soon as they're available, without waiting for your doctor to release them.

    I have a website called MyHealthRecord. The pathology report has been posted, however, I'm not entirely sure how to read it, or understand it. It definitely says DCIS, but I also saw something about IDC. I'll just have to wait for my appointment for clarification I suppose.

    My surgeon hands out the paper booklet Your Guide to the Breast Cancer Pathology Report, published by breastcancer.org. It was very helpful. She walked through the parts that were relevant to my situation.
