I have a palpable lump in my left breast (non cancer side) after a double mastectomy and diep flap reconstruction. My gp is sending me for an ultrasound which I’m having on Monday. Any thoughts of what this could be other than cancer?

Ausykaren - It could just be a cyst, but you are wise to get it looked at! Sending positive thoughts your way.

I had a small lump, size of a corn kernel/small pealess than a year after my BMX with immediate DIEP recon, turned out to be fat necrosis. I felt it (unlike the cancer lumps I never felt) and my doctor sent me for sonogram and mammogram. As radiologist explained, necrosis is not uncommon to find on the DIEP flap line. Hope yours is same!

Ausykaren, I have a lump in one of my DIEP breasts that's pretty big--maybe 2" in circumference. The first time my oncologist felt it she freaked a little. My plastic surgeon said relax, it's a fat necrosis. After 8 years it hasn't changed. I so hope yours is absolutely nothing too.
