Guardant PIK3 test- cost?

My MO ordered a test for the PIK3 gene mutation. Since they were not able to get enough of a sample from the biopsy I had last year, she wanted to get a blood sample and send it to a lab. The draw was on Wednesday, the 10th, and was sent to Guardant Lab. I received a voicemail on Friday, the 12th, from a person at the lab asking me to call them back. Don't know why. Their website says that their turnaround time is about 7 days.

I'm thinking that they're going to want me to pay for this, but I can't tell from their website how much it might be. Has anyone else had this test from Guardant and how much did it cost? Of course, I called them at 5:30 on Friday and they're closed until 6:00 AM on Monday. Just curious and trying not to stress over something I can't control.

I’ve had Guardant 360 done twice and never had to pay anything either time. Do you have any kind of health insurance? I vaguely remember receiving some sort of letter in the mailfrom them saying they would try to get insurance to cover. They accepted what my insurance paid, and I did not receive any bill from them either time.

Moissy, thank you for your reply. That is very comforting. I do have insurance, so they may just want that information.

Yes, the price for some of these tests can be nerve wracking! As I remember, it took about 14 days for my onc office to get the actualresults, and I asked for a copy for myself to keep. Wishing you all the best.

Holy crow!!! I just spoke with a woman at Guardant Lab. My out of pocket expense, because they are considered out of network, would be $9,000! Not happening. We don't qualify for financial assistance with Guardant but they are going to contact my insurance company to see if they will approve this. Yikes!

Insurance has denied my claim as "investigational and not medically necessary". Oh well. I'm not paying $9k just to find out that I may or may not have the PIK3 mutation.
