DCIS 11 years ago
Hi Everyone,
I was diagnosed with DCIS grade 2 about 11 years ago. A little over 2 weeks ago I found 3 little lumps along my mastectomy (cancer side) scar line. Went to see my PCP yesterday and she felt all around it and did not seem overly concerned her thoughts were the lumps felt smooth and a bit moveable. She still ordered an US which I have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow morning. My question (s) is, those of you who have had a similar experience this far out from your original dx, what was your finding? also, If it was necessary to biopsy what and how was the biopsy done? I have an appointment with my PS for next Wednesday, would he be the doctor to do the biopsy if it is necessary since I have implants? I am not sure what doctor does what any more since its been a while. Ugh........
Thanks kindly in advance for your replies as I know these questions are asked often.......

grannyjuju, I was treated for DCIS 12 years ago. I am glad you sought diagnosis for the lumps you found. I have been followed by my MO and RO all this time with now, yearly visits. While I have not experienced a recurrence, I am afraid that it continues to definitely be a possibility. I can't speak to how a biopsy is performed and by whom when there are implants. I hope all is found to be benign.

Thank you Jelson for the reply. Your diagnosis and mine are very similar. I am glad that you are being vigilant and monitored. From what I understand the longer we go without a recurrence the less likely we are to have one and if we do the better the prognosis. At least that is what I believe to be the case. Hang in there be vigilant and take care of you and enjoy life.
So, I had my ultrasound yesterday and after reviewing the ultrasound a mammogram was ordered (usually goes the other way around). The radiologist looked them over and told me the 3 lumps were calcification clusters (sort of big ones) most likely B9, even though calcifications were the finding from my original cancer DX of DCIS, hmmm?? He did not offer any explanation as to how or what could have caused them and suggested for me to see my plastic surgeon for consultation. I already had an appointment with PS next Wednesday since my plan was to remove what was there either way and also since I now know these little culprits were causing the irritation and discomfort. So, I am going with B9 results until proven otherwise, YAY.........Juju
