Any link - triple negative & ovarian cancer?
Hello triple negative community,
Did your doctor recommend that you have your ovaries removed in order to avoid ovarian cancer? Does anyone know - either anecdotally or via research - if having a triple negative diagnosis increases your chances of developing ovarian cancer?
I have received conflicting information - and feel torn about the decision. I am 53 so pregnancy is not an issue. I just don't necessarily want to have a surgery if it's not really necessary. But then again I definitely want to do all I can to avoid another cancer diagnosis.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

AA, have you been tested for genetic mutations, BRCA1 or BRCA2, among others? Here is some info that might be helpful to form more questions for your health team.

I'm not seeing (on a very quick google search) that there is otherwise a link, absent a genetic/inherited mutation. Maybe someone else will chime in with better info.

I forgot to mention that I was indeed tested for BRCA and am negative on that front. Also that they have determined a connection there. Thanks for reminding me.
It sounds like your doctor did not recommend ovary removal. Curious what others have to say.

No, mine didn't. I was diagnosed early 2019, tnbc stage 1. No mention by anyone of ovary removal, and honestly I've never seen it in any tnbc thread unless related to genetics.
