Just diagnosed with PLCIS at age 69.

Trying to determine if I will just do endocrine therapy alone or radiation to left breast.

I had surgery on October 1st

Pathology report stated that a 1mm foci was present at the anterior margin. A 1mm foci was present at the posterior margin.

1st lab report after biopsy said it was DCIS

Did anyone skip radiation therapy after a diagnosis of PLCIS and just take endocrine meds?

Emotional Rollercoaster

First you need to clarify is it PLCIS or DCIS, before making any decisions because there is a big difference.

Will keep you in my thoughts!

    Hi Linda,

PLCIS has been diagnosed by two labs and then after my lumpectomy. The first diagnosis was DCIS and then after more staining on the specimen, it was amended to PLCIS.

I asked for two additional opinions from two different labs after my diagnosis of DCIS.

    Thanks!

It is an emotional roller coaster! The biggest challenge I found with PLCIS is the lack of information. Our knowledge base is just so new, it doesn’t give us much to go on when making these decisions. (In my case, I went with radiation and no hormone therapy because of a strong family history of blood clots.) It’s frustrating not to have more studies, but then again, I’m grateful they’ve identified it at all and are starting to understand how it is and isn’t different than LCIS. What do your medical people suggest
